There are gamers with certain disabilities that can’t play FromSoftware games and I would love for every person to be able to play the game. @laurenfazenbaker9777 this might sound crazy, and I know you just called me a simp for my take, that's okay, I think you would actually agree with some of the points she made if you watched the video. It's really awesome that you've fallen in love with Elden Ring, and I hope you continue to conquer the Souls franchise ✌️
@@justkubz well thanks for the positive message. I did watch the video. She lost me when she said kids are a disability. Kids are not a disability. A responsibility? Yes. A very big one that should take precedence over everything, including video games. To most parents who want to actually be parents, kids are a blessing. To call kids a disability is pretty dehumanizing at best. That was huge red flag for me, and thus why I couldn't why I cannot in good conscience get on board with her take.
@laurenfazenbaker9777 that's an absolutely fair point, and there are things that I too disagree with, the thought of a child being a disability has never crossed my mind lol I just didn't feel like the overall takeaway of her video was that one singular point, and it's been interesting to see that sometimes we struggle to find the common ground even though we're likely more similar than we are different. I hope you enjoy your evening!
0:18 you are the worst kind of person, immediately attacking somebody instead of gesturing in a duel. You sir have no honour. (Also you can actually pause elden ring lmao, though its technically a bug)
I named my character "Honor Above All" and send my duelist sign to all summon pools at lv.220. I encounter 3 types of people. Honorable 1v1 duels, dishonorable 1v3 gang bangs, or the host wasting my time and entering the boss door right before we were about to fight. I'd also like to mention that I always do the "May the best win" gesture at the start of each duel, even sacrificing my I-frames from being summoned to a world. Honor is worth more than runes, rune arcs, consumable items, or short-term pleasures. The Honor I have garnered from acting like a human will stay with me, for it feels much better to look back on those honorable duels and winning against dishonorable opponents then stooping to their level. Honor is above all, and the Law of Causality will strike the maidenless down
She’s not saying that she wants less buttons to press, what she’s trying to say is that she wants more options for people who can’t press all the buttons, or shortcuts to pause the fucking game.
Short of being in a boss fight, you can quit out in half a second and reload your game in less than ten, and you will be right back where you left off.
I think you should be able to pause. Maybe not get access to inventory and armour set so you can change things, but pause would be a nice adition to Elden Ring.
Im just really curious - whats really the reason why we cant pause the game in the middle of combat? What will a pause button do in terms of difficulty?
Your favorite game is based on it having a pause button? Don’t get me wrong, Sekiro is literally my favorite game of all time, but because you can pause? lol that’s weird.
You can in 99% of cases in the game - immediately quit to main menu. it takes literally 2 seconds if you practice the button input. It's like 4 or 5 button presses and you've paused the game.
For one, kids aren't disabilities theyre responsibilities, and two ik my disability isn't as bad as others but i have seizures, and sometimes i get them while playing and i dont need a pause to just put down the game to try to handle my epilepsy, bc the games not as important as me almost dying
The simple solution: Game when they have gone to bed. If gaming is that important to your life situation hire a nanny or get a neighbor to look after them for a couple of hours. And like i said ``important`` which mean some of us unwind by gaming, so yeah it is important to our mental health. Which again helps with everything😶
The worst is ever since she made this video some people on twitter all of a sudden want a pause button too. Where was all this during demon souls, dark souls and bloodborne? Now that your fav eceleb asks for it NOW you want it?
Honestly, if she said "Hey, can you add a Pause button like Nioh 1 and 2 because sometimes, i gotta go to toilet and i almost beat the boss and i don't want to fight the boss all over again." then she wouldn't get a huge backlash. But she gotta go spewing scat about disability and "womansplaining" about it is just obnoxious.
My 3 year old plays Elden Ring he knows how to call torrent, lock on use spells switch armor and weapons and uses them, knows how to summon his spirit ash and other people I have video of all of this he beat a boss on his own at 3 years old and that's just Elden Ring he likes to play Apex Legends, siege and marble blast he's not amazing but he knows what he's doing 😂 these "gamer/streamer reviewers" have issues with this game hahaha
Simple. Elden Ring is a product. No singular product can be made to appeal to every single person. FS made a product and released it to the world. You get what you get, just like any other product that exists.
In Elden ring you can stand there forever on “pause” in most areas of the game. If you have responsibilities then the game comes second. That isn’t a disability.
This is pretty bad , but I still think quantum tv was way worse. He said "A game that isn't made for everyone isn't a game that should be made at all."
You can pause it. Press start (go to menu) select equipment then press the select button and press menu explanation. Viola the game is paused. I thought this was common knowledge. People posted about it when game first came out. She just needs to Git Gud. Plus if your having difficulty using the controller Microsoft have the adaptive controller. It's up to hardware manufacturer to implement not @fromsoftware.
I agree with Alanah on having an easily accessible pause button for Fromsoftware games. It can address some of the issues players have. But I disagree with her terminology (disability) and the removal of buttons. It’s already simple enough as it is.
I think you are misunderstanding her point because she used the wrong word. Having kids greatly impacts how you get to interact with the game. I am not sure if you are just looking for drama or genuinely didn’t see her point, but she is right. Whether anything can or ought to be done about it is a different conversation but she was very reasonable I thought. I am a father of 4, and I don’t consider my kids a disability, but there is no question that it impacts how I get to game VS me pre kids.
I will agree that pausing the game isn’t that important however, being able to use summons or being able to go off and getScadutree fragments Those aren’t disability options Alana was not asking for the game to be made easier a disability setting for example, that allows you to hold down R1 to attack instead of having to click it multiple times would be a nice feature for those that have difficulty using their hands. That is a fact it does not make the game easier. It just allows a sub group of people who couldn’t play before be able to play it, holding r1 doesn’t make the game easier.
How is she gonna explain the term in the video, and you still not get it? Physical disability isn't the only use of that word. She works in the industry it's an industry term. If you really have a problem with the term, it's not her fault.
THIS is why it should be a EASY MODE? NO! How is this even a argument? You find a time and place to play Elden Ring! This is NUTS! Don't pay video games if you can handle REAL LIFE! Elden Ring is a video game, not a lifestyle....

@@sharkking4 yeah or they could just add one button. I don't even care, I don't pause the game, but I'm sick of this troll reply. What people mean with a button to pause the game, is just pressing the menu button to pause the game like in most other games
"Caught in the semantics" Is what Asmon and other centrists is saying out here to make her point good. Well "pause" Is a design choice and I don't think putting it in the game will just "make it better" Or it "doesn't affect" anything. It will brake immersion, and I'm sure it will be abused in gameplay somehow 🤣. Yeah it must be nice but it's not the point of the game. The argument about "The bosses is designed to be beaten anyway" Is kinda weak too because everything is designed to be beaten even in pvp. The point is the uninterrupted struggle and triumph you'll feel in the game at any given time.
This is the most redditor take. You’re hung up on the word disability, you cut up her vid so it’s out of context. Dude asmondgold watch her take in good faith and had better criticisms than what you’re trying to spew. Do better.
Elden ring should have button mapping feel free to mention if I am correct but her take on children being a disability is absolutely insulting if her kids heard that think about that for a moment ( if she even has children)
im disabled and i playd all fs games. if i had kids i would play with them (not fs games) because u cant watch ure kids and play video games, and i know there are some they say yes i can play and watch but in the time ure eyes r on the game ure kid can die , maby he pulls something down and it hits his head? my brother has 2 kids one 0,7 years and on one 2,9 years, u have 2 constantly watch the second. if u want play games, do it if u have time and not if u want 2. hope my english was ok.
You repeatedly saying, "what are you asking for exactly" and saying the game is already accessible because it has summons is just ignorant. If you watched the video instead of just trying to get likes from the gatekeeping crowd, you'd know. People with disabilities do want to play videogames too. And adding in accessibility options for them in no way would take away anything from how you want to play your game. She's pointing out that she doesn't agree with people who are complaining the game's too hard yet won't use the options that are in the game.

But elden ring i a easy game to play even with pain because like u say you dont have to butten mash. Sometimes i get extra pain in my left thumb because of the steering but come on. There are games that are 1000 times worse
You can pause Elden Ring. If you explored the pause menu for 5 minutes. Literally just press start, X or A or whatever PC uses, then press the map button. You are paused. You can do it as fast as you can press buttons.
@proxywolf2006 Well, it's called being a parent. Maybe make sure your pet creampie is set before you are about to get on a game that requires time. Also, the whole point was she said you COULD NOT pause the game. When the reality is, you can. So her entire argument set around that false fact is invalid.
A game shouldn't have to change to make it easier for other people to play. Especially people who don't want to invest the time to learn the game well enough to actually play it. Should we go back now and change Chess to make it easier for people who do not want to invest the time to learn how to play it well? Simple. Just play something else.
I feel like this is not even a "take" or even that deep. Why are souls channels crying about this? Did you even watch the actual video? She clear says that she understands the negative reviews due to accessibility issues. And it is a disability by definition of the word disability. She was not saying in legal terms of the word disability. Definitely not the best choice of words but not really that big of a deal. She states in tge first half that she deat the game and enjoyed the game and believes that the game is not hard. Are we crying about people just having opinions now? Kind of pathetic.
Bro put down the pipe😂 I watched her video yesterday and she explicitly was talking about accessibility option for people with handicaps, clickbaiting and calling it a dumb take is quite pathetic, the more people are able to enjoy this masterpiece of a game, the better, and if they won't experience the exact same thing in their playthrough like you, because of accessibility option and the like, then ask yourself for real, does it dimish what you experience? 😂 Come on bro stop whining
In her defence, she clearly meant children are a hinderance, but she has a point. My cat was choking in the middle of the Messmer fight and I was really close to killing him, I had to drop everything and help my boy out. When I got back to the game I was already at the grace outside the boss arena. I think being able to pause would be extremely handy, and accessibility options are a must have, whether they be controllers or having an option to map buttons more simply. There are a lot of gamers out there who are limited in what they can play because of a disability they may have. The more options they have for being able to play, the more games they can play
@@joshprimegamingthere are already so many abusable things in the game, so much so that the common defense for "this game is too hard" is "you choose your own difficulty with your build" ... So why would there being a pause button to abuse be a problem?

I've had many things happen like my oven going off or somebody knocking at the door. You just put the controller down... Accept the one death because you've probably had dozens or even hundreds more so it really doesn't matter
I remember when i first started scared to lose a couple thousand runes now i casually invade with 300k runes that i lose on death
If I remember correctly you can pause if you go into the menu and press explanation, more situational you could use mimics veil i (know this isnt a pause). Might be wrong though.
I started playing eldin ring because we had a kid.. I can just walk away. Better than leauge or tarkov.
Exactly my point
I think I basically things like Press to run instead of Hold to run should be there, also, accessible stuff like Tricolor thing (forgot name of disease)
lol i knew there would be quite a few people defending this dummy. She would fit right in over at Kotaku as a game journalist.
Well she did come from IGN.
Alana Pierce sucked at IGN too, a career in failing upwards.
i totally agree with having a pause button in elden ring, it doesnt "remove the difficulty" its there for convenience
Im a dad of a two almost three year old boy and a 1 year old daughter. My son is always trting to play. He loves the boss fights cheering on his dad and enjoying it almost more than me lol. I still do dad duties and he plays with me. Balance is the key
There's accessibility controllers available for purchase.
Ok....I'm a total Souls noob. Never played a Souls game until Elden Ring. I had a blast with that game. I am loving the DLC.
It isn't too hard. Difficult, challenging, yes. Too difficult or too challenging? No.
These people whining just don't want to put in the effort to learn the mechanics
I do it to prevent lag switchers. People with a regular connection will have no problem moving out of the way.
that's what they all say 😔😔

@@joshprimegamingexcept when they use a gesture also ngl using healing incantation is kinda unfair for your opponents
She’s not saying that she wants less buttons to press, what she’s trying to say is that she wants more options for people who can’t press all the buttons, or shortcuts to pause the fucking game.
Simp said what?
@@joshprimegaming Huh? I never fall for that trick.
at least someone who understands...
Short of being in a boss fight, you can quit out in half a second and reload your game in less than ten, and you will be right back where you left off.

I think you should be able to pause. Maybe not get access to inventory and armour set so you can change things, but pause would be a nice adition to Elden Ring.
I have a son, he is never the problem.
No body is changing a dipper and being able to return to ur game in under 2 mins that's like superman speed 😂
Just quit out. That’s what I do when I fall off a cliff or if I get called away after starting a boss. It’s like 4 button presses
Im just really curious - whats really the reason why we cant pause the game in the middle of combat? What will a pause button do in terms of difficulty?
I would love a pause button in ER. That's why Sekiro is my favorite from soft game
They have a pause button tho but yea I love sekiro to
Your favorite game is based on it having a pause button? Don’t get me wrong, Sekiro is literally my favorite game of all time, but because you can pause? lol that’s weird.

Yes u can pause. Just go in to inventory and a couple of more steps and the game pauses.
yeah how about we get to actually press the menu button to pause it instead
You can in 99% of cases in the game - immediately quit to main menu. it takes literally 2 seconds if you practice the button input. It's like 4 or 5 button presses and you've paused the game.
For one, kids aren't disabilities theyre responsibilities, and two ik my disability isn't as bad as others but i have seizures, and sometimes i get them while playing and i dont need a pause to just put down the game to try to handle my epilepsy, bc the games not as important as me almost dying
Lmao the dsp comment was pure gold
Pause smause, who needs it?
I literally have a two year old and I play elden ring all the time with no problems lol
These kinds of people are dead inside and running on a pre-programmed auto-pilot. They aren’t even conscious.
Did you watch the illusory wall video? He basically proved everything you said wrong.
Problem is she doubled down and argued that she used the correct word and then referenced a link to a resource of where she learned it.
too fucking bad
@@Edwin-iw8gb what is?
Elden ring make a growing men cried, Some release a full loaded in their depend.
Sometimes I wish I would break my wrist so I'd have a reason to not game for a couple months 😂 perspective really is everything

Don’t be dishonest about mashing in Elden Ring… In PvP I slay many of players mashing out of hit stun… The mashers are out there and eating is good!!!
I'd rather have the "games impossibly hard" take
"Caught in the semantics" Is what Asmon and other centrists is saying out here to make her point good.
Do better.
Asmongold is even more of a brainlet than her though.
Elden ring should have button mapping feel free to mention if I am correct but her take on children being a disability is absolutely insulting if her kids heard that think about that for a moment ( if she even has children)
Well she is EX-IGN so why am I not surprised?

You repeatedly saying, "what are you asking for exactly" and saying the game is already accessible because it has summons is just ignorant.
If you watched the video instead of just trying to get likes from the gatekeeping crowd, you'd know.
People with disabilities do want to play videogames too. And adding in accessibility options for them in no way would take away anything from how you want to play your game.
She's pointing out that she doesn't agree with people who are complaining the game's too hard yet won't use the options that are in the game.
You are not reading between the lines, first its a pause option. Next its simplified button inputs. What's next?
Thats how you end up with games like Dragon Age Veilwalker
Well guess what? There are a bunch of video games out there besides Elden Ring. Just play the ones that aren't affected by your disability.

She has joined the victim club. Play some other game lady, you ARE asking for an easy mode. You CAN pause the game in PVE as well, all she has to do is a google search to find out how. You should never be able to pause a multiplayer game, that breaks the whole game in anything that isn't turn based. She IS asking for an easy mode despite the mouth noises she makes.
SKILL ISSUE
Guess what no one force them to buy a game that they know doesn't have a pause in it. This is just a pathetic take. *DON'T BUY THESE GAMES IF YOU CAN'T HANDLE IT* Another thing that is what people are asking for an easy mode you see it everywhere. 👀
I have kids. I can play elden ring. I have disabilities. I have rheumatism and have lots of pain i my hands for exempel.
So pressing multiple buttons is as fast as oressing one button? I doubt that Especially considering lag input can be a thing on pc with performance
Exactly
I feel like this is not even a "take" or even that deep. Why are souls channels crying about this? Did you even watch the actual video? She clear says that she understands the negative reviews due to accessibility issues. And it is a disability by definition of the word disability. She was not saying in legal terms of the word disability. Definitely not the best choice of words but not really that big of a deal. She states in tge first half that she deat the game and enjoyed the game and believes that the game is not hard. Are we crying about people just having opinions now? Kind of pathetic.
From stans are omega loser and the definition of mental disability 😂
Bro put down the pipe😂 I watched her video yesterday and she explicitly was talking about accessibility option for people with handicaps, clickbaiting and calling it a dumb take is quite pathetic, the more people are able to enjoy this masterpiece of a game, the better, and if they won't experience the exact same thing in their playthrough like you, because of accessibility option and the like, then ask yourself for real, does it dimish what you experience? 😂 Come on bro stop whining
I did say that she had some good points but some that were totally braindead. "Childrens are a disability" how tf can you defend that?
In her defence, she clearly meant children are a hinderance, but she has a point. My cat was choking in the middle of the Messmer fight and I was really close to killing him, I had to drop everything and help my boy out. When I got back to the game I was already at the grace outside the boss arena. I think being able to pause would be extremely handy, and accessibility options are a must have, whether they be controllers or having an option to map buttons more simply. There are a lot of gamers out there who are limited in what they can play because of a disability they may have. The more options they have for being able to play, the more games they can play
