Another great option is a Necromancy spell that targets the entire enemy force. You don't need to play Litch path to unlock it for your caster generals. They can twin cast that and wipe most armies by themselves. Just don't use it against undead armies as that will heal them.

When I saw it I thought it would also impact my living units so I passed over it. Great call out thanks!

Thanks for the tips, just a couple notes I'd like to add:
    1) When merging two armies, you can click on those arrows between the units to move everything from on army to the other. It even stacks identical units and leaves leftovers in the army you tried to merge.
    2) My favorite "trick" to accumulate an even higher number of my favorite units: let's say you wanted to go all-in on signifers; whenever the Call to Arms crusade ability (sword icon right next to the Mass Teleportation ability) is available, you open your army's view (where you can see your general's feats/spells etc.) by clicking on the 'i' button, then click on the two-way-arrows button on the right to create a new army and move you signifers there, then you move that new army like 2 steps aside to make sure you don't click on the other one when you use the ability. After that, you merge this temporary army back into the original one. this allows you to bypass the random mechanic of the ability. Normally it selects a random unit, but by having only one type in the army you can guarantee that it's what you actually want.
    3) You can stop a your moving army mid-movement by pressing space. Very handy if you ever happen to missclick and find yourself running head-first into an army you cannot defeat.
3.1) Also, if you want to explore new areas, it might be a good idea not to do it with your main army. You don't want to run into a high-level enemy and lose half your troops. You can separate a single piece of unit (e.g. one shieldbearer), create an army for them alone and sacrifice them.
    4) By the same token, you can set up defenses around your bastions. Put armies of singular units on the way to your bastions. You can put them right in front of the fort by starting their movement and stopping them by pressing space. Since they all trigger a fight, they can impair enemy movement, giving you more time to get to the bastion in case you find it hard to maneuver your main armies efficiently. This also makes building Citadels completely unnecessary (not that they were a high priority to begin with).

Those are great tips! I didn't know fights impair the movement of demon armies that's definitely good information.

Man I used to HATE crusade mode until I started watching your guides. Thank you so much for these!
Now the crusade campaign feels like a lot of fun. I just had to stop trying to maintain so many big armies and also to be a little more selective about my troop types.

Excellent video as always. Unfortunately, as I found out, my first playthrough that reached Act 5, I was playing (by design) a chaotic flake so when I did Regill's quest, the first thing he did was accuse me of my chaotic actions in Act 4 (totally justified, I was RP'ing a selfish jerk by choice), forcing me to sack him and his compatriots. Oh well, at least his gear upgraded my party :) No Signifiers for me, I guess.

good job. i can't agree more, the spells you get are just insane also your army's power seems to have an influence on your general's spells. the mythic path spells your generals can get, oh boy i remember the angel stuff i was flinging around was just deadly.

Oh yeah Angel was fantastic for Crusade Management.

After finishing the game once with normal difficulty crusador management, I am playing in subsequent playthroughs on easy mode as I primarily play this game for fun and this part of the game feels like work to me. Especially as you cannot allow to loose a battle or win one with too many casualties. Although i must admit that, even though I too rely heavily on a caster general, I didn’t build that many of the general buff buildings as I like to have at least one of every type of building. So thanks for opening my eyes to look at this in another way.

think the biggest problem is since you cant usually build many unique mythic path units your basic archers and footmen just carry you bc you may hav put their buildings in most forts. so you recruite hundreds

After watching your video about act 3, i had a short to do list. I made a mistake in where i place buildings in Drezen and only had space enough for one large (4 square) building. I'm now trying to asses whether it's worth tearing down and rebuilding, and if so, whether to do it in act 3 or wait until act 5 when there's more money to throw at it all.

    • @SlanderedGaming
      @SlanderedGaming  ปีที่แล้ว +3

If you feel confident what you have will get you through Act 3 then wait. Act 5 will give you a lot more resources to make tearing down and building things back up more feasible. Also at the beginning of Act 5 you have to wait for your Generals to be available anyway so there is some downtime while your buildings are coming back up.

I think the 3 day delay is due to Galfrey just losing your armies right before you get there.

@@SlanderedGaming I don't remember off the top off my head, but there are some mythic paths lack certain things, late game tanking unit, a late game hard hitting archer, ect. its not super noticeable but its there. azata, lich and angel are the exceptions they get everything they need from their paths itself. it is worth noting owlcat said they wanted to make this crusade system to emulate HOMM3 and in hommage to it.

One main army, plus a reactive army to defend against invading armies. I use another general to move troops around as you have enhanced movement on generals by act V.
