I have to say I like the repainted version at the end. The sand color gives it a more worn and dirty appearance and the weathering is great . This was really a neat project and you did a great job on it. Thanks for sharing this.

First.. I just found your channel a couple of hours ago.... already subscribed ! I really like that you show how to make things with minimal supplies.. and how to achieve great results even without an extensive supply of previously curated "bits" For those just starting out this is a great help !! .. : )
Next: Love this little droid... I am loving the repaint .. !! It was recently suggested to try something outside what we typically make.. I generally make tiny scale models of houses, furniture and accessories.. so this looks like a great item to get me outside that for a change of pace. And since I love all things space and droids.. this seems perfect.. ! I am thinking I might try this one.. for myself, I am fond of the color used just before the purple.. that greenish/tealish sort of color.. I really liked that as well..
Also.. I have have a tip : ) I see that this video is about a year old, and you may have already figured this one out, but just in case..
When making a cover for a circular tube, instead of tracing and marking .. cutting out then trying to fit it to the tube..
try this: 1) Cut an oversized piece of the material you want to use as the cover. 2) Glue the tube to the base. regular pva or heavy tacky glue seems to work best on paper products.. for this method btw. but hey.. you do you ; ] 3) Let completely dry. 4) Then cut away the material that extends beyond the tube.. you can used either scissors or a craft knife depending on size of project and materials used.. I generally just use scissors and it makes a very smooth, finish. If there are any tiny bits along the edge you can't quite get with the cutting.. a little sanding will smooth it right out. I came across this little trick some time ago and it has proved invaluable for time saving and accuracy, not to mention the frustration factor, in my own miniature builds. I hope you give it a try and that it is a help to you.. : )

Good tips on construction and safety (I can’t count how many times I’ve remodeled digits with xacto knives myself over the years) and looking forward to more in the future!👍

Could you make MORE tp roll mech vids?? I think for lots that watch and are beginners it can be hard to find good plastic pieces and greeblies or get too used to throwing them away too quickly, but EVERYONE always has a roll of TP thats almost finished and ready to use, would love to see more TP roll robots and droids and mechs made from them with different style legs and arms and or weapons

If you're going to use two layers of corrugated cardboard set each layer perpendicular to one another, it'll be less flimsy.
I'd also recommend, if you're going to use a hollow cardboard tube, take a couple of pieces of carboard, cut them to the length of the tube, and the diameter of the inside, slit each one half way up the middle, slot them into each other so they form an X, and then fit and glue them inside the tube. Just to increase the structural integrity.

I've never bought expensive super glue. Out of all the super glue I've used in my life, I've never had any luck gluing paper or cardboard with it. It just soaks in, sticks the item to my fingers, but they never to each other. In fact, garden variety super glue kind of sucks in general. It works wonders on stuff you DON'T want to glue together, but on the stuff you DO want to stick, the joint usually comes apart at the slightest prodding.
I broke a CD case (one of the hinge legs snapped), so I super glued it. Naturally, as soon as I tried to flex it to put it back on the other half, it snapped right off again at the joint. So I put the case together, put the broken part in place and applied a single drop to the joint. Of course it glued the case together like cement.

Same here, I also have never had good luck with Super Glue... A friend put me onto the BSI glue. He let me try the Thin, Medium Gap Fill and Heavy Gap Fill and I found the Medium works the best for me...
