  • Found this cool little Final Faction Dollar Store toy and thought it would be fun to do a quick custom scratch build. I took a hairspray caps a quarter machine container and some Dollar Tree Final Faction droid parts and built a pretty cool scratch build Snow Droid.
I hope you enjoy this custom toy!
Thanks for visiting DR Toys, have a great one!

Love this build. I'm such a huge fan of Toybashing, trash bashing, kitbashing, whatever you wanna call it. That tea light wiring was PERFECT! BTW That's a capacitor on his spine.

  • @wwt17

That's super cool. I thought it would be a nice touch to put those wires on the other leg, too. That way it doesn't look like you're trying to hide wires, but more like they are part of the robot.

Dude you didn't sound to thrilled with the outcome but the insane amount of work you put into this piece and that wiring which you wound up having to make holes throughout the piece including the base and that ingenious placement of the tea light is seriously impressive. This seemed like an exercise in patience at a ten! I am very impressed.

Thanks. Sometimes at the end of a build I’m critiquing my own work, thinking about all the things I wish I would have done. That’s the fun part about being a maker critique and observe your mistakes and make the next one better.!😃

Great work, it seems more a rag tag Army's droid than a regular one, it has an "emergency" feeling, as something build for a disperate situation, where all the firepower is needed 👍

I know you were going for Star Wars Stormtrooper and it definitely still has that vibe. but to me, it also has this hand-drawn cell-shaded effect like something straight out of Borderlands 3. Love it.😊 it also looks like something I'd pay $20 to $30 dollars for at a hobby shop, If I hadn't watched you build it I'd never have known it was made using recycled bits of plastic caps, and dollar tree toys. xD

That's a really excellent result! As a personal thing, because I always have an internal backstory to everything I make to justify the end result, I would have matched the wiring on the right leg, to make it look more functional. That's a great scratch build, though.

    • @DRToysCreations
      @DRToysCreations  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Great point! In actuality I should have drilled through the top portion of the leg as well and I could have hid the whole thing. I really don't have a ton of experience with wiring and when I was looking at my footage of it I thought the same thing... it's not quite right. Lesson learned 🙂

Came across your channel recently and love your videos. One thing I noticed while watching the turnaround was that something felt a little off. I realised it's that the left arm and left leg are both behind the body whereas in a natural walking motion the arms and legs are opposite (when right leg is stepping forward, the left arm is swinging forward) The build and paint was fantastic, but I think switching up the legs or arms to make them alternating would have made it work better and create a more interesting silhouette.

Thanks. Yup, simple oversight can make all the difference in the world... I noticed that as well, after everything was glued into place... MERP 😬
Thanks for the insight and thanks for checking out my work!

cool pill bot, only complaint i had is that the weathering seemed too yellow in some areas, and seemed like it really needed a touch of watered down brown in the deepest nooks and crannies, otherwise really cool robot i love it!

Yeah, it's not perfect. I tried a new powder rust and I dont know exactly how to use it yet... It's all part of the journey. 😀
      Thanks for watching!

Just found your channel! I’ve been building my own R2 units, some R1s, and now I’m making a bipedal protocol droid based on EV-9D9 - building a series of speeder bikes too. I’ve already built one star ship and I’m in the middle of a couple more... i’m going to get a volume of work done before I do my painting - I really need to start a channel that would be a lot of fun

@@DRToysCreations I’m not even sure what software I need - is there anything simple to use that’s not a fortune
