Some of those pieces look perfect for a star wars diorama I'm working on... time to dig in my trash!

Nice! I have seven boxes full of discarded plastic bottles, knick-knacks, and whatnots myself. Now, let's built something.

This art style is called "Scratch Bashing", and the results can often times be better than kit models :)
Non-shrinking drywall spackle mixed with a little bit of water and matte Mod Podge is your best friend for filling gaps before painting.

During the lock-down here in Ireland, I've burned out almost half a dozen electric multi-tools, and now have my new one arriving soon, to work on even more of my weird and wonderful trash up-cycling projects :-) I'm a skip diving, trash rummaging, and trash grabbing up-cycler, and unapologetic with it, as all the stuff I find is pretty much free, and my club-mates (Who have more storage space than myself) are more than happy with all the things I've made over the past year. The six 25 mm scale Star Wars At-At's I made from discarded cardboard and plastic that local shops were throwing away have gone down very well among my gaming club members, and now they're gearing up for all the scenery and vehicles I've made/am making too :-) I LOVE your channel, as cardboard is one of my favourite mediums to work in, and the lightsaber tutorials have me almost screaming with joy/inspiration to have a go at some for myself :-D

Perfect timing for this video! I am making model scenery for a tabletop wargame with a sci-fi theme. Like you, I noticed that I could obtain the futuristic shapes I desired by looking to plastic trash and started collecting my waste. My questions are now those same questions - how to fill gaps around soft plastic? How to strengthen soft hollow shapes? How to create small details that don't look glued on? I look forward to your exploration of this topic!

You could use acrylic wood filler for gaps. If you want to stabilize hollow shapes, you can cut old plastic folders or anything that is flat that is also plastic, and layer them inside the shapes. For small details, you could try using liquidy glues. If you can still see some of the glue, you can sand it down. Hope this helps and good luck with your project. 😀😀😀😀😀

My favourite part is your questions! I have made terrain from plastic rubbish but so far I only took them as 'given' forms, I am excited alter them as you have. And he idea of deforming them using heat gun or soldering iron is definitely worth trying!
I gave up on the thin flimsy transparent plastic as it is too easily deformed and paint flakes off when it moves. Excellent exploration.

You can strengthen the walls of flimsy plastic parts with either Styrofoam (XPS foam is used for insulation), if careful can use cans of expanding spray foam, or simply fill the object with ready made spackle, both can be purchased at most home improvement/hardware stores.
