@WhosTheVoss You could take this approach to help your stripping process. 8’ = 96” * 0.5 = 48” of red and 48” of white. Choose desired stripe width, we’ll use 4” for this example. 48” / 4” = 12 stripes. Alternatively you could divide by “desired number of stripes” to get stripe width. Say you want 16 stripes; 48” / 16 = 3” stripe width. If you really wanted to geek out further, use the golden ratio method to determine your candy cane’s neck and hook lengths, then use golden ratio formula to decide your stripe number or stripe width.
You could also do a shinny clear coat after the stripe paint to make it shine when light hits it to give it the “wrapped in plastic” look or a “candy gloss” look. Great project by the just in time for Christmas!
I laughed for about 20 minutes at the Zach and my name is Aaron! Absolutely Gold! Perfect comedic timing! And you left us there and moved on... oh my gosh LOLLLLLLLL SUBSCRIBED!
LMFAO 🤣😂🤣 The yard stick bit had me LoL-ing 😂 so hard I was crying!! Truly Great Stuff!! Anyways, I Love These Canes! You did an excellent job on these things Sir! & I Still Love Your Authenticity (which is something most people lack & simply don’t have cause they’re just straight chameleons nowadays)! Don’t ever lose it cause your authentic comedic style is the best!! 💯 🎯
Useless tip o the day, if you add a second coat of the white paint after you mask off for the red. The coat of white paint will effectively seal the tape (as any paint that seeps in will of course be white) and give you a sharp line.
I made these a few years ago but used piano hinges on the curve and removable stands. As I'm limited for space with all the other holiday decor, they take up a lot less room storing them flat.
I took your advice and used some strap hinges. Was good until the last vertical piece, which I had to secure using a nail in wire holder to keep wires on walls.
Just going to throw it out there a sheet of parchment paper secured underneath your project with a couple clamps and a shim at the end is a life saver on glue ups. I typically use a small spring clamp on the over hang Just hanging off the table to provide tension keeping the sheet flat. Nice work now I'm going to have to build about 20 of them.
I haven't tried it myself yet, but have seen in videos where taping the lines like you did over the white paint, then going over the area with another coat of the white, to seal the tape edges to the white layer would help with getting the red line edges to come out sharper.
What a great idea. I’m going to try this with Landscape Timber because they are partially rounded. $6 for an 8’ at the big box in my area. Enjoying your channel.
I like being above average, I like your math skills sir! Another great project that even someone like me can, probably, complete... successfully.. Also, you do carry a resemblance to Zac Efron in his High School Musical days
Thankss ;) Zach Efron, thats a new one. But hes a good lookin man sooo Ill take it ;) lol, they guy that called me Zach was talking to me on the phone though 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤣
$120?!? Dang, must be really nice wood lol. I spend $14 on the HT 4x4 and $9 on glue that I’ll use for a couple other projects too. Was thinking $45-$55 to sell
Another painting tip you did not ask for from a professional painter, if you use the yellow painters tape and make your lines and before you add paint take a moist Rag and go over the tape. The moist rag activates the tapes clue and seals it so that paint does not get underneath
Do you have a fan page or a page for fans to share their work inspired by your videos? I would like to share the projects I attempted to create thanks to you with a few tweaks (cosmetic wise) to make them my own but it is you that has placed these amazing ideas for us to create. You're also the funniest YTbr I have watched yet. (Side note)
I tried and tried to setup a spot on the website where you could share projects but it required a lot of management. I see a lot of what you guys make on Facebook, Im active in pretty much every woodworking group ;)
@WhosTheVoss a website does require a lot of management, especially when you have to manually have amazing ideas. I'm glad to read you're able to see the projects. It's an amazing feeling when I or someone else creates something, and it comes out! Keep bringing on the content. Your projects are a blast to recreate.

Your a legend my friend! Keeping a good retention rate is hard to do (88 videos and 54 subs on mine lolol) I bow down to you my friend! Keeping woodworking fresh and neat while having fun! Great job Zach! I mean Aaron :) One day i shall be as good as you! (Probably not) but i shall hope! Haha have a good day my friend!
@WhosTheVoss Yeah, I'm working on how to make them more interesting at the moment. I try to show people the raw in and outs about V-Carving(along with other woodworking projects and things I build), but I'm definitely practicing to make it more entertaining! You're a legend, my friend! Might have to do a collab video one day once I get enough of a following to make it worth your while! :) Until then keep up the good work! Definitely looking forwards to your next videos! Thank you for the kind words as well!
Everything matches up the same, id make it bigger like a 36" so the wind or weight doesn't knock it over, could really mess up a pinata if you had one positioned underneath if that thing came down like a gavel

How much do you sell these for

This guy like 5 stars thank you always give you free for everybody. I love it so much.
Thanks buddy :) woodworking is already expensive! 🤣
Love this video. I want to make some out of 2x2s to line my walkway this Christmas
I like it! I have some as well and want to do the same thing!

You only come across a few life changing moments. And this is one of them. Imma give it a try
Not a useless tip! Thanks
Thats an old pro painters tip.. excellent advice for crisp lines on any paint project 😊
Fabulous tip!!! ❤

That's the best thing ive read all day! Definitely would be a space saver indeed :) and you wouldnt have to deal with any glue
I took your advice and used some strap hinges. Was good until the last vertical piece, which I had to secure using a nail in wire holder to keep wires on walls.

20 of them?! A commenter recommended landscape timbers since they are more rounded, might check em out :)

I could see that working! Imma have to give it a try. Ive seen where they use paintable caulking on the seam but Ive had questions :P
Asking Zack about all the nails and screws was my favorite part
🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for your great videos! My hubby thinks I've moved out to my shop because I like recreating some of your work!
🤣 Im glad to see its getting people to make some sawdust! :)
Yup, definitely want to mke some of these. Several different sizes too.
I want to line the pathway to our house with them. I need like 10!
I am going to be doing at least the small one this year! These are great.
Heck yeah! :)
What a great idea. I’m going to try this with Landscape Timber because they are partially rounded. $6 for an 8’ at the big box in my area.
Enjoying your channel.
Danggggg i didnt think about the landscape timbers! Thats a solid idea :)
I Love your energy man! Thank You 🫡
Thanks buddy :)
Nice work! Fun little project
Thanks buddy :)
Always enjoy your videos! Thank you!
Thanks buddy :)
Very entertaining yet awesome candy cane DYI. Thank you for sharing this video. I’m officially subscribed!

Might just have to make a couple and post of FBMP and see if they sell. Seems like they’d sell easy! Love the videos
Should get a couple bites! Happy building :)
I made one to try. What did you price it at? All in I am already over $120 in expenses :/
$120?!? Dang, must be really nice wood lol. I spend $14 on the HT 4x4 and $9 on glue that I’ll use for a couple other projects too. Was thinking $45-$55 to sell
Great video!! I think I might try these. Thanks!!
Its a fun build :) stripes are a bit of a headache the first time :P
Great video and love the idea. All the best from Ireland.
Thanks buddy :)
Great quick easy ish project. Thanks!
Quickish indeed. The painting adds two business days lol

Imma give it a try! :)
Good job and project thx for sharing Keep building
Thanks Larry :)
I have an extra pressure treated 4x4x8, so this is perfect timing
There it issssssssssssss!!! Get you a giant candy cane ;)
Always great information, content and a very nice experience!
Thanks buddy :)
This is the content I didn't know I needed. ☺️
This is the content, everyone has been needing. The big dogs of woodworking are asleep at the wheel :P
Nice work. Thank you
Thanks Ron!!
Man if I were to make many of those candy canes I'd have to make a stencil for the painting.
The stripes were trickyyyyy :P
Really cool project.
Thanks buddy :)
These are really cool, Za…I mean, Aaron!
Thanksss ;)
I would use two thin boards and a 'c' clamp to clamp the hook and main stem while the glue dries.
I like it :)
Do you get your 4x4 from a big box store or lumber yard. That 4x4 looks much better then construction grade
I dont know why but my Lowes has some sexy pine 4x4's. Their treated selection on the other handdddd... Yikes
Very Cool. Great video
Thanks Jay! :)

Motorcycle amputee here keeping it 5 toes down baby!
🦶 they are baby bikes (mine is the Triumph 400) :)

I wonder how it would work if you taped it off before you made the miter cuts and painted it???
Because you flip the 4x4 the stripes wouldnt line up afterwards. It might not look too bad though
Awesome man! Who's Zack?
No idea! Some guy said "Thanks Zach" at the end of a phone call. WHO IS ZACH?!
Could the stand for the smaller candy cane also work for the bigger one?
Everything matches up the same, id make it bigger like a 36" so the wind or weight doesn't knock it over, could really mess up a pinata if you had one positioned underneath if that thing came down like a gavel
Your sense of humour keeps cracking me up. Aaron, not Zack, LOL.
🤣🤣 thanks buddy :)
Awesome build! How much would you sell these for?
Ummmmmmmmmmmmmm (thinking) probably $40 for the tall, $50 for the small if it was stained/painted and ribboned
They are not makin 25' tapes any longer either or 16' tapes either 😂
Those candy canes turned out great
Nope! 🤣 Thanks buddy
Great video. How much do you sell them for?
$40 bucks for the tall one, $50-$60 for the smaller one (stained, painted and ribboned)
If you still have all your fingers and toes, you're above the average woodworker...
... or you just haven't been doing it long enough 😂
Not an 'if' , its a 'when' ;)
great build ideas. :{)
How much do you sell these for?
$40 for the bigger one, $50-$60 for the one with the stand, stained and ribboned :)
👍👍👍
🎤😎😝
Thanks for calling me less than average 😂😂😂 As I always tell people…..you really only need one eye.
Thats true!! ;) 👁️
You want to stay away from the sharp spinny thing because you want to be above average.
Indeed ;) 🤲🦶🦶
I am confused, cause your boards do not look like 4x4s
$14.98 pine 4x4 from Lowes :)
Agreed, looks like a 4 x 6 to me
"Ooh that was a wet one..."
Not something you'll want to say when you get older.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Only 5 toes here, guess I'm below average.
Ohh noo!! 🪚🩹 Below average, but beautiful ;)
@@WhosTheVoss I'm told I have a nice stump, LOL just glad I survived and can still walk around on 1 1/2 feet :)
Well I’m bringing the average WAY down. Zero toes now days
That does impact the national average! Gotta be careful out there!
Man I hope you don’t have to ship any of those lol.
Make them pay for it!
@ would have to.
USPS guy is going to be reallllllll angry 🤣 I wouldnt ship these :)
@@WhosTheVoss that’s what made me think of it lol. Our ups guy is a 5’ lady.
Joker lol
There he is! Where you been attttttt??!
