Great report TMAC. Some years ago I found a bag/folder left inadvertently in the back of my ambulance by a patient we took to hospital. When I walked the bag into the ED to give back to the patient staff suggested I open it to check its contents as the patient had moved on to an other ward. Thanks for sharing! As a US Navy veteran who's participated in drug patrols, I have a few thoughts about this. My main point is that drugs of all kinds should be legalized. Alcohol is a legal drug. Why is it different from pot, heroin, coke, etc.? Why should these substances be legal? One, you're not going to stop the stuff from coming in! There's simply too much demand for it. Two, illegal drugs breed a lot of crime, such as the Mexican cartels. Three, in the US anyway, the drug war is Unconstitutional; our Federal gov't isn't allowed to prohibit or control drugs in any way. Four, because of gov't efforts to fight drugs, our rights have been trampled upon; things like no-knock warrants, excessive force, and so on all started because of drugs. Five, they corrupt gov't and law enforcement. Finally, drug use is a spiritual issue, not a legal or law enforcement issue. I'd like to expand on some of these points. As I stated above, there's a ton of demand for drugs. When our ship did a drug patrol back in the 1980s, we made news in our city, as we'd made a 12.5 ton bust for pot. Weeks later, another ship, the Elrod, made a 100 ton bust; that was like 8 TIMES what we did! We were quickly forgotten about. When you consider that only 5% to 10% of loads are caught, one must ask the question: how much are we not catching? How much is really coming in? There's a huge demand for drugs, so someone will supply them in an effort to meet the demand. Based on my experience of participating in drug patrols, you'll never stop the influx of illegal drugs. Drugs corrupt governments, the military, and law enforcement. Though I can't prove it, I have circumstantial evidence that the US Government is on the take; i.e. high level US officials are being bribed. Why do I say that? One, the altitude and speed parameters we'd use for flagging suspicious aircraft were low. Two, the way we conducted drug operations off the coast of South America was all wrong. I'll discuss these points in detail. As I said, the altitude and speed parameters were low. I don't know if I can divulge them now, even though it's almost 40 years later; what I can say is that they'd only catch the small time operators, while giving a pass to the larger operators. What I can say is that the speed and altitude parameters would only flag a small time smuggler using a small, twin engine aircraft like a Piper Aztec; larger, big time operators flying Douglas DC-7s or Mitsubishi MU-2s would be given a pass, i.e. we wouldn't call them in. Why only go after the small timers, while allowing the big timers a pass? To ask the question is to answer it. Also, the way we did drug patrols off South America was all wrong; we were stupid in how we deployed our ships. We patrolled just a few miles off the coast of Colombia, which was the main exporter of pot back in the 1980s. When a US Navy or US Coast Guard ship shows up off the coast, the smugglers all run and hide; they all crawl under rocks like a bunch of cockroaches. If you're really trying to catch the smugglers, why do you want them to hide? Don't you want them out in the open, plying their trade, so you can catch them in the act? Again, to ask the question is to answer it. What we should have been doing is plugging strategic gaps in the routes between Colombia and the southern US. We could have deployed a destroyer or two between western Cuba and the Yucatan Peninsula; we could have deployed another ship or two between eastern Cuba and western Hispanola, or Haiti; we could've put another ship or two between eastern Hispanola, or the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico; finally, back then, we had patrol missile hydrofoils, or PHMs, in operation, that could've covered any traffic coming around eastern Puerto Rico and the Bahamas. Pot's a bulk cargo, so it has to be transported by sea. to put it another way, any seaborne vessel coming up from Colombia would have to pass through one of these choke points. While I can't divulge the exact ranges of US Navy air search radars (they've no doubt improved in the 40 years since I did drug patrols in the Caribbean), I can say this: the air search radars would've been sufficient from ships patrolling the aforementioned choke points. Just to be sure all suspicious air traffic coming from South America was detected, then another ship patrolling the gap between Jamaica and the Yucatan Peninsula would fill it. As the old punch line goes, I told you all that to tell you this: if I, a radar operator, could figure this out, then why couldn't the Admirals in the Pentagon not figure this out? After all, they've attended the US Naval War College, which means that they've studied strategy and tactics; they've been equipped with the knowledge to figure out these things. The fact that our naval assets were deployed in a far less than optimal manner tells me one thing: that high level officials in the US Government, both civilian and military, were on the take; they were corrupted by the drug money. I can come to no other conclusion. While I could say so much more, I'm going to end this here. In conclusion, drugs should be legalized. One, they cannot be stopped. Two, illegal drugs breed crime, such as the Mexican cartels. Three, here in the US, the Federal Government has no Constitutional authorization to conduct the drug war. Four, our rights have been trampled in an effort to fight drugs. Five, illegal drugs corrupt gov't and law enforcement. Finally, drug use is a spiritual issue; it cannot be solved via law enforcement.
You have come to the correct conclusion...The reason your were never briefed on the matter is because the drug trade is CIA territory and would therefore be above your pay grade as they say. Illegal drugs undoubtably corrupt governments and law enforcement, but to believe that they weren't corrupt to begin with would be quite naive. However, you recognize this fact when mentioning that the "Federal Government has no Constitutional authorization to conduct the drug war" and the adage laws for thee but not for me would certainly apply to this situation. Also, If drugs were legalized then there wouldn't be nearly as high of a profit margin simply because the highly addictive nature of drugs. Not to mention, the support of modern pharmakeia further drives up drug dependance to unprecedented levels. A drug users dependance is what drives up the demand at the expense of said user and governments financially take advantage of this addiction through the utilization of drug cartels overlooked by the CIA which allows for complete and utter control of a supposed unregulated drug market. This in turn yeilds a significantly higher profit margin than if the drugs were made legal and supports your reasoning as to why Law enforcement wont ever solve the drug issue, because that was never it's intended purpose...it was simply set up to help control the flow of drugs. As with all addictions, the drug issue is yet another spiritual issue plaguing humanity in our modern day, but often with more detrimental consequences. The only way I can see the drug addiction issue being solved is by ending user consumption which should then eradicate the demand. However, this is easier said than done when one considers the active opposition from governments who are essentially running the drug trade and facilitating the vast dependance of all kinds of drugs in our current society.

Fellow Thai here! Great research on this and I knew you would’ve had to mention the plant. Not only where they planted at the circuit but In last years race if you looked around at the food stalls there were stalls that offered THC additives into their food, I still have a picture of it in my camera roll. And yes the tourism sector in Thailand is trying to promote marijuana but in certain cities… there is just an over saturation of the shops being opened. YO what's with the spooky music when the cute Thai ladies are showing you how they trim and pollen press? This is a perfectly legal activity for them. Weird editing decision bro.
I don't see a problem with it, really. It's better than the draconian nature that a lot of the world treats it. I feel like it's more the advertising of it that's the issue here. Much like alcohol sponsorship using their alcohol free brands to indirectly advertise their name and actual alcohol variant. Much like how cigarette sponsorship was reduced. It wouldn't surprise me to see some form of boom of sponsorship then it's going to be massively regulated if not before the boom.
Nice one Taylor. You have a new subscriber. A much greater story can be found amidst the very murky Red Bull empire and the Thai justice system. For a start may I recommend you look at "Death of Wichian Klanprasert" in Wikipedia. That will set you onto a shockingly brazen and stinking trail, which I suspect not many Moto fans are aware of. Best wishes.
I loved my hobby until the police told me i had to stop. 🤬 would love to do it again but can't risk getting caught again I'm going to Thailand in February. Is this tour something you can pay to do? or is it a case of needing to know someone?
Nothing shady… you visited legal places. The ‘ backstreet’ farm is open, legal and paying taxes… the area is also safe…. No risks at all. You should dig into the crypto sponsors for criminals…. Instead of creating drama where there is none.
Taylor - lets have a deeper dive into why Canabis is illegal in your home country in the first place. Honestly it will blow your mind, id suggest you bring your mum along for the ride also. Your welcome :)
A fantastic video and very interesting in how the sport is funded. I wonder what the Saudi states have hidden away to afford to host not just motoGP but also F1.
Cannabis is harmless unless you have cannabinoid hyperemisis syndrome like me who had it and was in and out of the hospital for 10 years. Now that it is more well known I fully support legalization.
To a Canadian this is very much a "meh" story. We legalized and started distributing in 2018... every Canadian is allowed to grow up to four plants and have 30 grams on them at any point.
as someone who's been using prescribed drugs for years and also occasionally used weed as an alternative to painkillers, i don't really understand why people still see weed as something that should be banned. sure there are some specific types of weed that have very high thc levels but it's literally NOTHING compared to something like fentanyl or even oxycodone.
I have no idea what drives anyone to spend that much to go a little bit faster than someone else in a form of racing that is normally so competitive that you are rarely ever going to win. If the object is fun, then it isn't. If the object is brutal will to be better than everyone else, well, that's the part I don't understand.
Crime has funded motorsport for so long, even in Johnny Herbert's book he says he had to take a bag down a dark lane and swap it, the great train robbery played a massive part in 60s/70s motorsport.
Very interesting, and something that NOT ONE single MotoGP journalist has brought up! Great investigative work Taylor.

Great interesting story and video Taylor - I suppose big money has always been corrupt so they have to find sponsors from somewhere
Top work Tmac
funny that booz and sigaret ads are a problem.
but OF is okay....
F1’s budgets for teams is now 145 million a season.
What have Lamborghinis with Romanian licence plates got to do with anything?
I’d be taking a loooong shower after going in that weed factory
There’s plenty round where I live… if only it was so prevalent when I was racing - would have been easy sponsorship 🤣🤣
Amazing insight. Awesome video.
I’m from Northern California, San Francisco Bay Area. Ground zero for this culture. Welcome!
😂😂
Love the guy describing a plant grown in artificial light with huge energy demand as "organic".
You’ll be working for Panorama next !
There is a large scale facility next to my job. The air drying structures waft out the odor on certain days
"that's dope" yes it is. Subscribed last year.
What a great video ! Had no idea that Thailand had legitimised Cannabis and the political consequences .
Great video! Just wanted to add that F1 these days have a cost cap of $135m
Yeah. But it costs more than that to run the team with various personnel (drivers) not included.
Legal in Canada, and it's available in shops everywhere. Not a problem. Just sayin' ...
agreed , 420%
I thought the smoke haze was from 2 stroke engines, thanks Taylor
haha, short story my dad used to go watch the racing, he got me a signed poster from your old man, it was on my wall for most my childhood ^^
Brilliant Tay - much better than that Dooley girl!
YO what's with the spooky music when the cute Thai ladies are showing you how they trim and pollen press? This is a perfectly legal activity for them. Weird editing decision bro.
I heard that oil companies are also getting more prohibited(?) Yknow, "going green" and "sustainable"(?)
Who knows where bike racing will end up in it all!
Oil companies/fuel manufacturers are already developing sustainable fuels, in order to comply with MotoGP, etc new requirements.
I thought you looked chilled out lately Taylor 😂😂😂😂
😂😂
research IMSA in the 70s. lots of interesting financing going on with the race teams.
That is no back street shop they got the suits haha. Hope you tried a little before you left man!
Wow My home town, many things happen there all good and bad
Ha, brilliant 💪🏻
I wonder if he even realized the biggest sponsors of the past are also drugs , nicotine and alchohol.
The fact that cigarette sponsorship is banned but, alcohol, vape, and crypto is not, should tell you all you need to know.
Talk about leaving no turn unstoned!
I loved my hobby until the police told me i had to stop. 🤬
would love to do it again but can't risk getting caught again
I'm going to Thailand in February.
Instead of creating drama where there is none.
mans just telling us to go to Thailand for cheap weed
What's your conclusion then Mac? Different leathers and sponsors per event? The cows won't like that! 🐄🤠
More mental Crypto millionaires I say, it makes it interesting when they turn up 😂
Gambling money has taken over from tobacco sponsorship in Australia and that has a bigger effect on families than drugs including the drug tobacco
Was that Bill and Ben trimming the weed.
Very interesting I know of a few legitimate businesses that were initially funded through canabis .
Thia stick … been around since I remember 1970’s.
Taylor - lets have a deeper dive into why Canabis is illegal in your home country in the first place. Honestly it will blow your mind, id suggest you bring your mum along for the ride also. Your welcome :)
The thumbnail looks like a F’d up Tiger Woods 😂
A fantastic video and very interesting in how the sport is funded. I wonder what the Saudi states have hidden away to afford to host not just motoGP but also F1.
Duhh.....black gold
So Thailand is charging EU / UK prices for crap... insanity...
That will be a strip search for you when you pass through customs our end then, and after the dog sniffs you 🤣
😂😂
one thing i don't think it was in motogp was the winnow thing, I could be wrong as i don't watch motogp
Thailand needs a Woodstock☮
as someone who's been using prescribed drugs for years and also occasionally used weed as an alternative to painkillers, i don't really understand why people still see weed as something that should be banned. sure there are some specific types of weed that have very high thc levels but it's literally NOTHING compared to something like fentanyl or even oxycodone.
“You can’t smell a picture”
qatar isn't a new region, lusail is a classic track for mgp
Hey it’s just weed brother calm down
Why ban Zero % alcohol beer? Surely governments should encourage this? 🤦🏻♂️
This video made me unsubscribe…and then subscribe again! 😂 Great video…interesting to see this side of motorsports.
How was product testing? 😂
I have no idea what drives anyone to spend that much to go a little bit faster than someone else in a form of racing that is normally so competitive that you are rarely ever going to win. If the object is fun, then it isn't. If the object is brutal will to be better than everyone else, well, that's the part I don't understand.
we are all so really fu**ed up in this world🤣🤣🤣🤣
just found this out? been like that since the 30s if not the beginning
Crime has funded motorsport for so long, even in Johnny Herbert's book he says he had to take a bag down a dark lane and swap it, the great train robbery played a massive part in 60s/70s motorsport.
Oh weed is the least insidious. I'm certain there's some Pharma millionaires and amphetamine/fentanyl kingpins involved in motorsport currently
@coliimusic wouldn't surprise me if there is some sponsors that exist only on paper that's laundering that sort of money
@@kbaovaadose2403has been since sponsorship became a thing.
Hope you weren't racing that weekend, no doubt something would have showed up lol
There is a simple way to keep the costs down, claimers.
Great plant and Great sport!!👍
homie trying to villainize weed smh
