    At first I thought, "geez, a 25 minute video? Surely an honest review wouldn't necessitate that much time" and now 25 minutes later I have to say thank you so much for your insight, your quality video editing and narration, and how well you depicted the moped as a "frankenstein" as you call it. I don't know that I'll get one, but this review has been the greatest resource for getting to know this brand and this bike that I've found to date.

    I received mine January 2019 and I love it and will never sell. The speed the price and what you get is amazing. Totally worth it. There is a few minor flaws like the wood covering and the loud annoying chirp of the alarm system but overall I am very impressed. I did not know about the 60v to 80v thankyou for explaining that.

    We purchased this Vivi 27.5” electric bike and a Tentaquil 26” electric bike for our 13 and 14 year olds. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ The Vivi was much easier to put together. With the Vivi, there was a video link to assist with assembly which made the process easier to follow (we did put the handlebars on upside down, but it was a quick and easy fix). With the Tentaquil, the assembly was not as simple to follow, but after we messaged the company for an assembly video, it was easier and they did respond quickly. The other major differences were that the Vivi has a grip throttle on the right handle (like a motorcycle) and the Tentaquil has a push throttle that you use your thumb to activate. The monitors were also different, so if you’re looking for something specific in terms of changing the bikes functions, pay attention to what the monitor offers. We were really impressed with the overall quality and functionality of both bikes, but if you’re looking for more power and an easier assembly, definitely go with the Vivi!

    Sadly Michigan changed the requirements for a moped limiting them to 30 MPH. This is the main reason I ordered an e-bike. I started looking at electric motorcycles and mopeds last year but decided to go with an e-bike to avoid registration. I live in a smaller town and do not have a motorcycle endorsement. Since class 3 e-bikes can go up to 28 MPH I talk myself into one. If the old definition still applied I might have gone with this moped. It sounds a lot like what I was looking for a year ago!

    What if you put a larger and brighter set of tail/brake light and turn signals on the back and sides of your rear basket?
    I got rear-ended (in my car when stopped at a red light) by a truck the other day. That extra lighting higher up and out on your rear basket could give an oncoming vehicle just enough extra reaction time to avoid hitting you. Especially since people text and drive these days.

    Amazing review, best I’ve seen so far. I’m considering this bike for my NYC commute.
    Question regarding the weight, do you think this bike would be too cumbersome to get into a second floor apartment using a stairwell?

    • @mirandys
      @mirandys  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Everyday? Yeah I’d say it’s waaaay to cumbersome. Once a season and you have a friend to help? That’s doable. I’ve seen one guy on the RCR MODS Facebook group that carries his up and down a flight of stairs and had a good method of doing so, but I know he had to remove the rear rack to do it, as basically you are carrying the bike up leaning back on the back wheel only with the front wheel in the air like on a dolly. That’s the only way I could envision you doing it regularly. It’s a heavy ass bike. I put mine in the basement over the winter to do some mods indoors and it was a total bitch to move with 2 people. No way you could do it alone safely.

    • @mirandys
      @mirandys  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’d say your better bet it to get two really good locks and a cover or something for outdoor storage on a daily basis and maybe move it inside only seasonally. Unless you do the dolly method and don’t need the rear rack.

      Still have it. Still enjoy it. However, the current price is fairly high imo for a bike with the build quality issues I have seen. I purchased mine used and at about 50% less than what they cost new now, so while I don’t regret my purchase, I don’t know if I could justify current new pricing. With the Sondors MetaCycle coming out and Cake Bikes new lineup (like their Makka bike) it seems that better build quality at this price point is either already here or right around the corner

    • @mirandys
      @mirandys  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      there is, but given the risk of damage, it bouncing around against the metal frame, and its lack of protection from rain and snow, and also the aesthetics of a dumb ugly cord sticking out... I didn't find this solution to be a great long term option for me. But yes, you're absolutely right some users do push the cord out of the hole and I think ONYX may even ship them that way now... I simply don't trust that solution from a long term wear and tear perspective.

      Andres Barrios hi! So you don’t want to put it through the frame tube (you’re right it won’t fit there), you simply want to run it under the seat between the seat and the seat brackets that are shaped like two metal “U”s. Hope that makes sense. Let me know if not and I can try to explain it better. No need to take off the taillight or anything, I made that mistake myself the first time. What's your thoughts on those retro-styled electric motorcycles from Super Soco? Would be great to see a video on these.

    I would have to take it up one flight of stairs to my apartment. Is this something that is doable? Is there anywhere you can grip it below the seat to roll it up the steps?

    +Randy S great video thank you. Can you purchase a bigger seat for a companion as well as passenger foot pegs?

      It’s definitely possible, the bike is larger than a traditional moped, but definitely smaller than a traditional motorcycle. I would recommend adding some thing like a buddy seat on top of the rear rack if you’re looking to carry a second rider. Those can be found on treatland.tv you will obviously want to pick up some pegs as well.

    Awesome video again! I'm getting the rear motor phase wire spacer. How were you able to install it? Does it require removing the rear wheel? Thanks!!

    • @mirandys
      @mirandys  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      no need to detach the hub motor from the bike (no need for full disassembly)... you can get the spacer on by sliding the axel off the dropouts and then right back on.

    Do you pedal when you ride? Do you ride in the bike lane? Have police ever bothered you? Can you lift the bike up a set of stairs?

    • @mirandys
      @mirandys  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No I don’t pedal when I ride it’s largely pointless the gear ratio is such that you can only really pedal at low speeds. I will ride in an empty bike lane for my own safety and separation from cars but I won’t ride if other bicycles are using that space. Never been bothered by cops but they do wave sometimes or give a thumbs up. Too heavy to carry upstairs on a regular basis and nearly impossible to do alone safely. I’ve seen some dolly the bike up or down on only 1 wheel and that looks easier but you have to remove the rear rack.

    Damn i was saving up for a super73 but now.....😫😫 i want this.
    Few questions for anyone who may feel the need ro answer.
    1. As someone who has not ridden an ebike before how would i go about testing one in the Dc, Maryland, North Virginia Area?
    2. In normal mode the top speeds are 28mph?
    3. Where are some places to look for used cheaper options?
    Thanks in advance

    • @SLACKERBOY
      @SLACKERBOY 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You could fit two people but there's a decent amount of people who make seats or longer seats for the RCR. Saul for NYC is one of the more popular choices.

    I think you would of liked the Monday motorbike gen 7 too

    • @mirandys
      @mirandys  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      cool bike, but honestly the aesthetics of the bike are where the Monday loses me. The proportions of the frame to the height of the battery and wheelbase is a little awkward and reminds me of a Tomos Targa a little too much. Looks like overall build quality might be better than ONYX, from images I've seen, but I like the speed, performance and aesthetics combo of the ONYX better.
