I got tired of waiting for my RCR on Indiegogo and my wife got tired of my whining and when I was watching a SurRon video and OHing and AHing said “ if you like it so much, buy it “! The SurRon just became my “Go To” bike. When I’d go in the garage I’d always head for the SurRon. I disconnected the pedals so they hung down like footpegs. I sort of wish I’d kept it, but I didn’t ride it, so I sold it.
Looks hella fun but you make the SR look more fun 😆 obviously targeting different stuff as you mentioned. Silence and brakes is definitely great for riding with others
...no matter what you got a great gig you make us all jealous but you give back big time with all your information with great videos...for me it's the K6 BULL for adrenaline rush and doing 0-60 in 2.7 sec is crazy STAY SAFE and ride to have fun 😎
the motor has a 5 second delay for safety to avoid wheelies you can remove it by changing the settings on the kelly controller with a android bluetooth device.
I really want one of these but I’m waiting to see if they will make it more powerful in the next year. Not that the power is bad or anything but there have been a lot more powerful electric options in the last year or so. I have a standup electric scooter that has 6700 watts of power and now seeing 10,000 watt options of the same scooter. I’m hoping onyx will increase power to around that… then I’ll be putting in my order for sure.
@mike S The stock Onyx is tuned down, with the stock 41ah battery, you can tune the Kelly controller to 20000watts with no issue. The torque is absolutely insane and whiskey throttle will kill u.
Hey dude! I’m only 15 but I lift and am about 6/5 240 and since your also tall I was wondering how’s the seat height and overall size? Specifically In comparison to the sur ron. Im looking into these and im gunna grow a few more inches so im trying to plan for the future. Does the unit you have got the off road kit? If I get the rcr I do plan on getting the off road kit and taking it on some mountain bike/ light dirt bike trails so I am wondering if you think it can handle that….. The main reason im interested in the rcr over a sur Ron or x260 is the increase in top speed and power since im so big. Thoughts?
For your height I’d recommend the Sur Ron and the modifications I did to make it fit us better, I think the rcr is really small for us tall people and not nearly as modifiable for height as the Sur Ron.
Small bit it’ll work, Sur Ron you can add a seat extender to make it more comfy easily but rcr is basically set position. It’s fine sine you won’t be pedaling anyway but not great
Dope video! Still loving my RCR everyday! Also every wood cover is different. None of them look exactly the same! Eye love my RCR and the Sur Ron is fly as well. But that sound would annoy me everyday all day. And Eye ride pretty fast in the streets and in between cars a lot here in NY so the sur Ron handlebars would definitely need to shaved down so they wouldn't be so wide. My plan is to add a Sur Ron and a zooz Bike and those 3 bikes should cover all my needs for business and pleasure since spending money on gas is not in my future plans at all anymore
I couldnt stand the sound of the Sur Ron. I was chain (never tried belts though) but it absolutely grinded my ears, it's not a pleasant whine at all. There was no stealthing it on bike paths and side walks. That and the twitchy throttle at mid speed (20-30mph) and dead spots made for an annoying ride all around, even with ebrake and regen off. While the torque and wheelies were fun, its not a street cruising pleasure. The Sur Ron is made for hooliganing and trails. I sold mine in a week. Looking at the RCR right now for a replacement.
@@TheMainCaptain that's my fear of the Sur Ron. That sound would drive me insane. And you will love the RCR! You just have to get the 41ah battery and then possibly a 51ah from chi or another company and your travel distance will be insane. It's so quiet. Nobody will ever hear you coming and you will definitely have to beep often to let people know you're coming through. The Zooz 1100 is definitely next on my list and the 2023 versions are awesome!
@@mackmccord3743 For sure, I dont know how people stand it, my Trident 660 is quieter than a sur ron. Ive heard people say the belts are much quieter but theres some reliability/strength issues with them. I think I'll pull the trigger on the RCR in the spring, I love the vintage cafe racer vibes from it. I havent heard of the Zooz yet. Ill have to look it up
man nice review. I already have a SurRon and I love the thing. I've been thinking about getting a cty2 though. Should I just save my money since I got a SurRon? I just like that the cty2 looks more like a bike and cops can't hassle me if they pull me over. I also was thinking about the zooz bike to just to bash around in. So many bikes, so little time....keep up the good work. Cheers!
Hey I'm in cali and I want a bike for similar reasons however I would love to be able to get a zooz bike past the 50mph mark. Any idea what the common rout would be for an upgrade? Source? I love that it looks similar to a 24" bmx bike aesthetically and I've always rode 20" bmx so that's a dream build for me.
James, I’d go for the rcr if you’re gonna get an onyx, it has noticeably more power. But I’d probably just use that money to upgrade the Sur Ron if it were me haha, you can make a seriously awesome Sur Ron for 8k. Zooz bike looks fun too, I saw one at an expo here doing wheelies!
@@JuicedJoyrides Yah man, I already got a bac4000 on mine and some fox40's lol. I just wanted to have an onyx to add to the collection. You're right I don't need it. I have been thinking about a zooz lately though.
Get the onyx used with mods already! and ur all set!! as far as price goes there is always a chance somone sells u one with a bad battery so expect later on or even soon u may havbe to get a new battery but other then that these bikes run for ever with low matnince you should check everything over every 500 miles or so and a visual check every time u go to get on the bike
Oxyn not fast enough to surron set up but just update controller and battery 80ah 72volt 45amp if you had 3000watt or 5000watt it's can top off at 50-60 maybe 70
And it's even better and easier to use if you put an inexpensive Pedego Thumb Throttle from amazon, it makes it so much easier to control the bike and break lever
@@JuicedJoyrides try the thumb throttle that Eye mentioned first. Eye paid a lot of money for a domino throttle and hated it because Eye ride for hours and it makes your hands really tired quickly. Went through all of that just to go back to the stock onyx hand grips (because they feel awesome once you realize how trash the other options are. They are grippy and they don't make your palms sweat) and half throttle to put that Pedego throttle on. It's really good. Take my word for it! Eye have spent lots of money on this bike to get it working and looking great without back, butt or hand pain which the stock setup will definitely give you.
@@JuicedJoyrides I'm actually enjoying the shocks and forks it came with. I'm not having a bad enough time where I wanna sink more money into shocks just yet.
From what I've seen elsewhere this specific bike you have seems underpowered.. most people were able to get it up to about 53 before it stopped climbing quickly, and were also able to wheelie quite a bit... im 6'5 but i only weigh 180.. its odd seeing this video now.. the sur ron doesn't have the range im looking for.. is this the smaller 24ah battery?
I thought his up to speed part was a little slow. Likely the 23ah version? I weigh 250lbs and my 72v 41ah gets me up to speed faster then in this video. Selling it though as it is a bit much for me. Never thought i would ever say that. I’m buying the cty2. Just got my rcr onyx and only have 24 miles on it.

Haha great way to put it, the Ron really does have a better finished design. I get compliments on it ALL the time, so much so I just started carrying a YT biz card to pass out to people interested. Thanks for the comment dude!
Definitely a lot more enjoyable than a Surron, 60mph and the feel of a bike rather than, 3sec. acceleration but max at 40... rather get a real dirt bike,,, just letting you know!

Thank you for the review. Was it easy to change the surron breaks?
Yes, it’s super easy. You just pull a pin and drop the new pads in pretty much.
