So I just did this using this guide today and it worked perfectly! Using a dremel with a cut off to cut the inner ring of the valve cover tube seal in segments helps it come out easier. Just make sure to go slow so you don’t put to much pressure. I found using a needle nose plier after making the cuts and twisting around in a rolling motion helps
Aaron I have so much enjoyed this series. Total respect for how you have perservered and not let anything set you back!! That in and of itself is inspiring. I am wondering what the differences are on my 08 G35 HR motor and the one you are working on......
yo i think the spark plug tube seal fix is a good idea. if you check later down the line and its leaking you can just get new valve covers which would have been the solution anyway. nothing lost to try aside from a little time. its been cool to see this whole series of you bringing the g35 back to life. hope that bug leaves on his own haha.
Hey Aaron, I know this is a very old vid of yours. But wanted to ask how the tube seal fix is holding up for you. I'm looking into doing the same on my R51 Pathfinder. Thanks.
GREAT!! so i decide to change valve covers by myself and i do the left one first, finished barely no issues.. then as I'm taking the last one of the bolts on the right side. it snaps and it's stuck inside the hole.. FML!!! now i gotta take the car to a mechanic... worst part is if i would of looked inside the spark plugs tube. i would of noticed that after i cleaned it a few months ago and changed the spark plugs. their wasn't no oil in there and i didn't need to change the valve cover..... SMFH
Hey Buddy~ Your thinking OUTSIDE of the box is awesome - That's a great way of thinking. Since your video's a few years old now, how did it hold up in your motor ? If you had to do that gasket thing over again would you advise changing anything ? Maybe one of your viewers know's about a different vehicle in existence that uses the same diameter seal except taller , that could possibly eliminate the need of using rtv to stack 2 seals together ? It would be nice to see someone who makes small parts with a 3D printer start spitting these thing's out at a custom size , but made out of some really badass heat resistant neoprene / rubber material or something similar. Sell the shit outta of em. (( Just a thought )) I need to do this repair on my 2004 G35 as well , thats why im curious about a how your idea worked out. Thanks again for taking the time to make this video.
thanks for the video i saw another video showing the same. Im installing a turbo kit on my z and need to reseal my plug seals while im in there changing injectors and running water lines to turbo.
yo bro , ive been looking for spark plug tube seals for my G too ,and i found another option, its the balance shaft oil seal on Honda G20A motor. 27'41'8mm ,well its lil bit thinner than the OEM g seals, but it also works fine , hope it can help someone who got the same issue like i did . oil in the spark plug tubes.
Bro that's a pretty good idea that's what I need to do too in my G as well but I'll wait on the update to see if u don't get any problems & if it's holding up together 👍 & bro u should get some raid for that bug 😂
@@AaronNewman i noticed online they are actually selling them for the nissan and Infiniti models. google it.. do u know anything about it? if u do.do u suggest it..or go with the civic ones? sorry for all the questions
Jodi Doe they’re both supposed to slide down a tad bit to correctly seal the tube the topmost one would sit over it too hot make sure they’re facing the right way
This literally is a horrible solution. If you're cheap then it probably works for some period of time but considering there is nothing pushing up on one of the tube seals and there is nothing actually surrounding that tube seal on the valve cover, other than silicone and hopes and dreams there's no way to prevent the seal long term from sliding down the spark plug tube and then just not sealing any longer
Using Toyota sealant on Honda seals on an Infiniti. Nice.
Frankenstein that shit lol
jdm bro

Hey I’ve noticed it’s been a few weeks since you made this comment, how have they held up?
Suzuki 11179-71C01 fit perfectly. It is 26.5x41x10 and here in Bulgaria it cost only 1.25 USD for one seal. BTW Aaron, thanks for sharing!
Do u need 2 seals in each hole how they do with the Honda seals?
Thank you.. i'll looking for It (to my qr25de)
God damn it. I literally just did my valve covers earlier today. Now i see this.
This is an awesome idea dude, looking at ways to fix the same issue on my 04 sedan currently... how has it been holding up with the honda seals?

Larry Croft appreciate that a lot man! Thank you! There are slight differences but pretty much the same exact concept!
Excellent vidio, tanks
You should paint the valve covers while there off the engine.
I’ve actually seen people put rtv in a certain spot in the tube and it works perfectly
I plan to put RTV on the tubes, put the cover on and let it dry overnight. I can't imagine why that wouldn't work.
I'm having this issue planning to fix mine. this comment is making me think now.. put rtv or new seals??
Hey I got this problem so did you guys replace the new seals? Or you guys put the rtv? Seems like rtv would work fine

I used a Flathead screwdriver and hammer and it came off pretty easy after a good 10 hits

Bro, think about pathfinder coolant bypass upgrade while she is out. I regret learning about it AFTER my jdm swap.
Why not just put RTV seal on the original circular tube seals? Wouldn't that even cost less...
So you would need 12 of these seals
How are these still holding up? I'm tempted to do the same to my Z.
Do the g37s have the same issues or are they easier to replace ?
So how is this holding up a year later?
Willing to give it a shot but I cant figure out the part you used. Hardly Moving Productions uses FEL-PRO ES 72967. What part number did you use?
thanks for the video i saw another video showing the same. Im installing a turbo kit on my z and need to reseal my plug seals while im in there changing injectors and running water lines to turbo.
Can you add the link for the honda part please?
You think these will work on the HR engine
Update on bug?
how did it hold up? engine installed yet?
How are the tube seals holding up?
Really good still!!
@@AaronNewman thank you
How did this turn out for ya? I’m about to do this method today.
Did you replace your valve stem seals?
dabitat yup
Gooood man 💪💪
What sizes are these? And do you have an Amazon link to the product
would it be easier if two slits are cut across from each other on each seal?
