    Hi Anthony, I have a G35 and about to change my sparks for the first time. In the video, you mentioned to hand tight the spark plugs and then torque wrench it according to manufacture specs. Where can I find this? And another video showed that I would need to remove the intake manifold gasket, would you say this is needed?

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Jamilynn Nguyen I didn't pull out the manifold. The torque setting would be in a service manual. You'll want a very accurate torque wrench because you can strip the threads. Or you can just make them snug by feel. Just be gentle with them because the cylinder head is aluminum which is a soft metal.

    I just recently picked up a Z and I was told it developed a misfire and it’s for sure the spark plugs. The engine is bone stock it just has an exhaust and a performance , flame , and economy tune. Would any of that effect what type or kind of spark plugs I should get? And would I have to take it to that specific tuner or could I just take it to a local shop since my motor is stock?

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can take it to a local shop that is familiar with Nissan engines. I list some part numbers in the description.
      Also look into changing out the camshaft and crankshaft position sensors, if original they cause issues at this age of the vehicle.

    Why iridium ix and not laser iridium? There's quite a huge difference in their milage. I guess your revup is easy but HR motors can be hard for some people so they may put long life plugs 💪😐

    • @AnthonyJ350

      It's probably because of the test pipes. It should only blow some black smoke under hard acceleration. If it's blue it's burning excessive oil. When was the last time the PCV valve was changed?

    what do you think?

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would go super charged for the simpler and more cost effective set up. If you can put 350 to 400 horsepower to the ground, that is a fast street car. But I would spend money first on suspension and brake to help use the power you already have and if you do the big upgrade, the chassis can keep up with the motor.

      Hmmmm probably something in the hydraulics of the clutch have gone. The master, slave or both need to be replaced. Change out the flex line to a stainless braided version with a heat shield as well.
      I doubt I'll supercharge mine, too much money right now and I have another vehicle to work on and I want a house. I'm just doing the plenum spacer and I'll be good for power right now with my full exhaust.
      You should look into changing the diff bushings and transmission mount and put more power to the ground.

      William Westerband Jr. Pull the coil out and see if there's black soot build up. That would indicate a loose spark plug.

      Well this is as close of a video I have what it would take to put rear seats in, minus cutting the roof. You do know you'll have to pretty much redo the entire interior in the back to make it look finished. You are better off selling your 350Z and buying a G35 coupe, it'll be cheaper.

    What Spark plug specifically? Mine started backfiring really badly lately and I wanna make sure I buy the right plug... seen people buying both NGK Lfr6a11 and lfr5a11 and I’m curious as to what you are running?

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just use the one NGK recommends that is only Iridium on the electrode while the ground is the regular material. The ground electrode won't last as long but dissipates heat better than an Iridium ground electrode.
      My engine is also relatively stock.

    Those are not OEM.. Use the double platinum.. most autoparts don't carry them on the shelf but almost any Auto Parts can special order them for you and usually they will try to push these as OEM instead.. the logic is that iridium is actually a better material however the OEM double Platinum have more surface area and the electrode is beefier so in actuality the OEM is way better.. the OEM can get a little bit pricey though.. I have owned my vq35de since new and using the OEM yields the best results..

      Better throttle response?

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      What are the improvements? Can you see it on a dyno or feel it at least?

    • @holyghostwarrior
      @holyghostwarrior 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I think the main difference is throttle response, and the OEM plugs have a longer service life then those other Autoparts variants.

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      psychobilly The longer service life doesn't interest me because I wouldn't use the plugs for over 100,000 KM. But what's the price difference? Because if it's like double it doesn't make any sense since the Iridium is pretty durable.

    • @holyghostwarrior
      @holyghostwarrior 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      AnthonyJ350 well well although they are more expensive it's not as bad as it used to be where as iridium for example would set you back $7.99 a piece the double Platinum will run you about $11.99 a piece.. for a enthusiast I would recommend they go with the OEM it is a nominal investment to compliment any upgrades or modification they have made whereas to an average Joe they might not notice or care about the difference in performance so much.. the double Platinum will have a very consistent reliable life span whereas the iridium you will have a noticeable decline in performance after about 75% of its life span.. furthermore my friend for example has a fully built twin turbo vq35de and the shop that Built his engine recommended even he use the OEM plugs although depending on the application you can go a couple of degrees cooler on the spark plugs you will also find reference to this in the 350Z owner's manual..

    Torque specs for spark plugs?

  • @ivanpadilla9875
    @ivanpadilla9875 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you really have to torque the spark plugs ?

    • @wickedz3316
      @wickedz3316 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ivan Padilla yes you should always properly torque spark plugs because like he said you don't want exhaust gases leaking, spark plugs coming loss, loss of compression, or the spark plug to be over tightened and break off or be at the improper height.
