Same thing happened to me after 29 yrs of marriage, I don't bother her, call or text! Sometimes love just isn't enough, I do wish Bruce would bring my car back!😢
I met a little girl and I settled down In a little house out on the edge of town We got married, and swore we'd never part Then little by little we drifted from each other's hearts At first I thought it was just restlessness That would fade as time went by and our love grew deep In the end it was something more I guess That tore us apart and made us weep And I'm driving a stolen car Down on Eldridge Avenue Each night I wait to get caught But I never do She asked if I remembered the letters I wrote When our love was young and bold She said last night she read those letters And they made her feel one hundred years old And I'm driving a stolen car On a pitch black night And I'm telling myself I'm gonna be alright But I ride by night and I travel in fear That in this darkness I will disappear
On this particular album the River we see Bruce unite two contrasting themes and moods with thoughtful and deep and darker introspective song writing that shows the elusive nature of the American dream pointing to economic insecurity and and hardship combined with a sense of community and connecting with people being outgoing and extroverted M
"Stolen Car" is an inner-directed, psychological song that deals with a failing marriage. The protagonist of "Stolen Car" is driven by his loneliness to car theft, hoping to get caught but fearing to just disappear. Essentially, he wants to get arrested just to prove he exists.
I met a little girl from my neighborhood who I fell madly i love with I promise this person I would never ever go back to the person I used to be before I met her let’s say I had a bad problem with staying out of trouble well 3 years later and a stroke and brain surgery I kept that person the only thing I kept that promise to someone I haven’t seen or spoken too in 3 years I lost a piece of my self
Great performance. I wish his songs were more like this, simple. A lot over his stuff was over produced and would drown out the lyrics. Thunder Road for instance is much better with just a guitar or piano. Just my opinion, YMMV.
One of my favorites. Hits you right in the heart. If this song doesn’t evoke any emotion in you, you’re either dead inside or a robot.
Agreed. One of his best for me.
That chorus is one of the best metaphors ever for a broken down relationship
"All the best girls were taken"
What a great scene that was. You could feel the heartbreak that Freddy(Stallone) was going through.
Poor Freddie
Stallone did the movie justice and this song felt like it could have been written for that scene! 😢 Perfection all round

Best song on The River IMHO
How could Bruce know?--How could He know?--Memories return and I wish I could go back!
P.s. how he could write such a knowing song at such a young age is beyond me.
Practice?❤❤
Makes me think of Copland every time.
Hij heeft zijn best gedaan en gelijk had hij, konden we het nog maar eens beleven.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
a classic song and fit well with the tone of the film Cop land.

😂
Passion and resignation all in one. So so powerful
You're so right
This is my favorite version of this song
It's a very good performance of a song full of emotion, heart ❤, and very beautiful lyrics.
I’ve watched this I don’t know how many times and I’ve only just realised it was performed on my 40th birthday, thanks for the gift Boss 🤟👍
Best song ever
Thanks Paul. Fantastic song and so emotional. Keep on singing Bruce and writing. Greatest ever😅
Was tough hearing this in Pittsburgh on that tour. Damn. IC lights and a few tears.
Goosebumps every single time!!!
This song says it all in my life !
Played in a beautiful scene in Copland
Il apporte de l émotion et de la passion ds chaque note❤❤❤
My idol He is the greatest storyteller ever
This is Why He’s the Boss!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Yes but Patti is his Boss, I guess😉
Jammed this out one night in a pub, just me on guitar and a female violinist who I'd only met for the first time that night - it was perfect.
Beautifully made..
I met a little girl and I settled down
In a little house out on the edge of town
We got married, and swore we'd never part
Then little by little we drifted from each other's hearts
At first I thought it was just restlessness
That would fade as time went by and our love grew deep
In the end it was something more I guess
That tore us apart and made us weep
And I'm driving a stolen car
Down on Eldridge Avenue
Each night I wait to get caught
But I never do
She asked if I remembered the letters I wrote
When our love was young and bold
She said last night she read those letters
And they made her feel one hundred years old
And I'm driving a stolen car
On a pitch black night
And I'm telling myself I'm gonna be alright
But I ride by night and I travel in fear
That in this darkness I will disappear
Bruce wrote about my wife and mine's marriage--He got it right!!
Simply.....THE BOSS 🎸🎷
The world has become so complicated & confusing, I miss simple things that are genuine
