This is a repop of an old Imai kit from 1982 or so. Bandai continues to repop this old kit every few years and is a cheap alternative to the new Hasegawa Regult battlepod kit. I have not built this kit, but I do own it. I believe that part 63 is just some sort of detail to be seen behind the eye's clear piece. I'd paint it silver or something. The thing about these Imai kits is that while their proportions are superior to the Arii versions, they are softer on surface details. That's why those sensor eye lamps on the back are represented through weak decals rather than actual parts, disappointingly. I recently finished the old 1:100 Arii Heavy Missile Regult and I used Wave's H-Eyes lenses to use for those sensors. What you came up with in lieu to easy access to such aftermarket parts was rather ingenious. While there is no internal detail, I have seen builds of this kit on Pinterest in which modelers have scratch built the interiors. I've seen people use that back hatch for battery access for those who have lighted their Regult kits.
I haven't yet encountered this kit from other manufacturers, so I'll definitely be doing some research. Your thought on the mystery part 63 makes sense--if it can be seen through the eye lens, it would look like an iris and pupil. Thank you for the insights!

Is this kit designed to be posable once assembled?
Thanks! Yes, it has a limited degree of movement that allows me to pose it. Once I found a pose I liked, I glued the joints to keep them in place.
