I was at this show in Vancouver. We were pretty much emotionally drained by the end of Joshua Tree. They picked us up with a great encore and then ended with this. People were speechless ...partly because it was new and now I realize ...because it is SO beautiful. Perhaps one if their best since ONE.
Such power when The Edge start playing the guitar and they stand together during the final section. You can feel the poetry, passion and great pathos that represents U2 pure. And both albums, SOI and SOE, are awesome. Every song is a little masterpiece, with some of the best lyrics I ever heard. They are the best band in the world, no one else makes music with such power and devotion, afer all these years and all the bashing they have to accept. Thanks again, guys, for continue working. after many months of them playing this song, this first version IMO is still the best (the most passion and I think it has to do with first night jitters!). Also thanks for the sound board recording, loved hearing either Dallas or the sound engineer counting off the changes.
