The deadly horn jab one having chance of 1 hit ko is why I like using Toxic needle on my pukei who is a status inflicter. Not only does it regularly inflict poison but it also does 1 hit ko sometimes and it's a technical skill with slightly lower kin cost
A gene I’ve always found pretty great is Cyclone, it’s a gene you can get from sand barioth and isn’t too difficult to get but it deals decent damage to with tick damage following after. I’ve been running the gene on my aliment inducing silverwind nargacuga and it’s pretty damn decent I’ve heard people say it’s great in pvp as well but I haven’t tried pvp yet so I’m not sure,
I think cyclones(trap cyclone for example in MHS1) are directly considered cyclones(dodge cyclone gene/trait utilize cyclones). Cant cure something that does damage per turn to the entire group. Ahh and for clarification this is not in response to the first/primary comment.
My Velkhana has Arachnophobia, Salt in the Wound, Inflict Ailment, and Bloodsuck as a few off the top of my head. Probably could put it on Nergigante, but my Velkie started with that Inflict Ailment XL so I built it to that.
Arekkz's distain for Teostra is how I felt when I saw Plesioth in the story...I had hip check flashback nightmares and immediately though not doing him again if I don't have to.
I like the Charged heat beam but need to use it with a gunlance protect because monster always attack the charging monsti, it might take 2 turns but it almost deals as much damage as a kinship attack which is why I like it on tanky monsters ;D
those high chance ailment moves are good paired with the correct hammer charge move. they can hit hard! i did 3056 damage to a gammoth with the meteor smash

I just beat the main story, so I haven't done any of the hr stuff, but so far, deviljho's gluttony seems top tier. With the right build, he can get back to full health from being nearly dead, while also dealing good damage. Edit: or is it called dragon eater? The dragon attack that has health steal, whatever it's called.
It's Dragon Eater. Worth noting that any Lightning Monsties can also achieve the same type of health regen with Khezu's Bolteater. Put either of those two skills on a crit focused monstie (and potentially with an attack buff) and they can pretty effectively take care of themselves in fights.
That mechanic isn't really "broken" in the first place; it's vestigial. Devs have outright said that they didn't want to include the element inheritance mechanic in this game (which personally I think is a shame, but eh, streamlining) and the only reason we still actually have it seems to be vestigial code they didn't bother to take out. I really doubt they're going to "fix" it given they never intended to have it in the first place, so the best case scenario is just that they don't touch it and you can still visually change some low level Monsties for fun. Worst case scenario is they move to "fix" it... by removing it entirely, as they originally thought they had.
Honestly as a scientist I have done research into the difference into "black and white" I have come to a conclusion...We are all the same. We are all humans. We all bleed red and we all feel pain. We can even accept organ donation from any race being we are all the same build on the inside.

Also Cylone is the only "status" you cant cure and its might trigger Salt in the Wound as well, but thats not confirmed yet!

Collect all the notes from that stage and do exactly what it says then you will be fine
be sure to use things like guard or absolute evasion when it's doing a non head to head move.

You're going to the right place, Just keep in mind the egg pattern is not the star of an elder dragon, but a nargacuga with white.
This build can be made more optimal switching the power ginea to the corners. It will give you 5 bingos instead of 3
