As a Chinese, I usually just watch but don't comment. But your video is respectable because you really put a lot of effort into making it. I'll tell you a fact around me. Many of my friends used to drive BBA (BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Audi), but in the past two years they have switched to buying domestic new energy vehicles, such as Ideal, Xiaopeng, Weilai, Huawei, etc., including me who is driving a BMW now, and I also plan to choose these local brands when I change cars. It is indeed based on the comprehensive experience, nothing else. This was unthinkable a few years ago. I never imagined that I would consider buying a domestic car one day, but the fact is that in recent years, China's local brands are like playing games with a plug-in. The quality and cost performance have grown too fast.
Thanks for commenting! I totally agree that the local brands have come a long way and there is no reason for people to choose some expensive German brand over a local Chinese EV. We may buy an EV in the coming year ourselves and I suggested to my Chinese wife to get a Chinese EV, but she is insisting on a Tesla. We still haven't made the final decision yet, so we will see. It will be interesting to see what the Chinese roads looks like in 5 years. My guess is that the German brands will become more and more rare as the price performance of local EVs make them a no-brainer over an expensive Audi or BMW.
@@xiaoandmatt In fact, my situation is very similar to yours. My wife and I are not completely in agreement on the future car change. She seems to prefer to drive a MINI COOPER. Before, she did not consider domestic cars at all, but after experiencing LI AUTO, her attitude seems to have changed a lot. I think the intelligentization and electrification of cars is bound to be a trend, just like the mobile phone revolution brought by Apple phones, which made the basic function of mobile phones as calls secondary. And those traditional leading brands are unwilling to innovate because they are afraid of being surpassed. They are unwilling to give up their comfort zone, but consumers will not agree.

Just like when we introduced Tesla, if we couldn't beat Tesla, we would go bankrupt, and only high-quality car manufacturers survived. Increase tariffs or prohibit imports. It will only make you lose the opportunity to communicate and compare with high-quality manufacturers.
If companies like Huawei and Xiaomi can turn out EVs like they can turn out smartphones, Europe and North America will have no chance whatsoever. Currently these companies turn out two new models of smartphones for everyone of their series which means there is only a 6 month turnover time from marketing to sales. Try to wrap your head around that if North American car companies like Ford, GM and Stellanitis only turns out a completely new model every 3-5 years !
Xiaomi's strategy in the electric vehicle field is very cautious. They have planned to catch up with the first-tier electric vehicle brands in 10 years. The United States needs higher tariffs to ensure national security and avoid being dominated by colorful Chinese new energy vehicles on its streets. The Su7 have hit the market in numbers yeah? I saw quite a few in Shenzhen last month. The saturation of EVs is insane compared to Australia. I went for a road trip in Xpeng G6 th-cam.com/video/0fJtYlbnU7w/w-d-xo.html. I prefer the Tesla
Thanks for the comment! I haven’t seen any SU7s in Yangzhou where I am currently staying, but they are becoming visible in the richer areas of Nanjing as you saw in this video. I just checked out your video! Very cool and I am subbed!
@xiaoandmatt thanks champ. Can't wait to get back to China mid August for some more Ev adventure. I am test driving as many EVs as I can. I just got to wait for that place to cool down. I drove the Ora black cat, byd qing plus, Tesla 3 and Y. I want more!

Yeah I agree it's pretty dumb. I think they know that those EVs will absolutely destroy the Big 3 automakers in the States. They are doomed anyway .

US has huge oil reserves, so they don't need EV that much.
Oil reserves have nothing to do with transitioning to EVs. The Earth is not running out of oil. lol In 5 years when batteries are cheaper the choice to buy an EV will be obvious because it will be much less expensive to buy and operate. The US just needs to get it's charging infrastructure right and people will switch to EVs because it will make sense financially.

The young guy should wear a helmet while riding an ebike. Or the police will fine him.
Unfortunately, many people in China still don't wear helmets. The police do do checks and people get fined all the time, but many people still don't wear them.
Seems to depend on how tightly the local po-po watches the scooters. I was in Beijing recently and hardly anyone wears a helmet. Then visited Yichang in Hubei province and everyone's got a helmet on. I guess we know which city's police is keeping a closer eye on their helmet ordinances.
