    If you are replacing the oil filter anyway - i normally just put a screwdriver through the side of it and use the leverage to rotate it off

    • @CasualRiders
      @CasualRiders  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Never been a fan of that method, I've seen a filter slice someone's hand wide open because the screwdriver slipped and ripped through the metal, leaving long sharp edges exposed

    • @CasualRiders
      @CasualRiders  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@itsgeorgemoto oil will go dark over time. As it cleans out the solid particulates in your engine,
      Just make sure you're changing oil and oil filter at the recommended intervals, and 8f you're really worried, send an oil sample to a lab for testing, they do a spectral analysis of all the compounds in the oil and give you an analysis

    Have trouble removing your loose plugs use a bit of rubber hose that fits tightly over the insulator. Should have gone a K&N air filter particuarly if you have a free flowing can. But may need a reprogram wigh the ECU for that not sure?. Ive read diffrenf things mine has all that before i got it and it runs great with a k&N and a Yoshi. You would think they reprogram themselves just let it idle maybe a minute then take it steady through the rev range in each gear maybe?. Mines a 2008 1250 Abs Bandit. Heaps of torque and grunt. Suzuki South Adelaide?.
    Don't forget tyre pressure, check brake pads, Coolant then its bSic service. Add swing arm and wheel bearing chajn and sprocket check next time you need a rear tyre.

    • @CasualRiders
      @CasualRiders  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      At that stage, I couldn't justify spending the extra cash to order a K&N filter, as they aren't well distributed in South Africa, I have since switched to the K&N washable filter, and it works fantastic without ECU work (I'm on an '06 with carburettor and already had the freeflow pipe when purchased). My Suzuki South is in Cape Town 😁😉

    Nice but I am going with oil that is available at a fuel station as I do not want to be caught short. I think Motul is great but Shell Helix Ultra is available at almost every Shell Fuel Station, different strokes for different folks

    Hi Nice video i have a 1998 bandit 600 how often should u need to change the spark plugs, air filter and fuel filter i change the oil and oil filter every 3.8k miles. Would u say spark plugs every 6k miles or every service

    • @CasualRiders
      @CasualRiders  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The service manual for the 2000 GSF600Y recommends an inspection every 4000 miles (6000 km) and replacement every 7500 miles (12000 km).
      Seeing as this is the exact same spec as the 1200 Bandit, I believe it safe to swap plugs every other service.
      Thanks for watching the video 👌😉

    What size spark plug socket wrench is needed? As well as oil filter and oil do you recommend? 😅 just got a bandit 1200 and was just wondering.

    • @CasualRiders
      @CasualRiders  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      i'm not sure what the size of the plug wrench is, I used the tool that comes with the stock tool kit, but you can use NGK JR9-B or JR9-C plugs, and measure them.
      I'm using the Hi-Flo Filtro generic made for the Bandit, Most bike shops here use a lookup catalog to get you the correct parts, so I just order it for the bike based on year model. lastly, I'm running Motul 5100 10w40.

      I honestly didn't know...
      But to be fair, I think I have a higher risk of being killed in a bike wreck than getting cancer as a result of working with the oil. death is inevitable, imagine spending your entire life trying to avoid it🙈
