I agree that Hua's performances includes audience participation does remind me of Freddie Mercury's live concerts. By the way, you're the first - for me - to mention Muse, Radiohead & Freddie Mercury (audience participation.) On your first reaction of Hua, I paused it immediately when you mentioned Muse and Baby. TH-cam search for it, listened to one song. Yep, you're right! ... Today, you mentioned Radiohead. I paused, opened a webpage, TH-cam band, and paused it. I will come back to Radiohead later on after I've gone through all of your reactions of Hua. Thank you!
This is such an amazing first time performed song, Hua just commends the audience who has never heard Great Sage before. This is from the show The Next 2016, Hua is already famous but not well known yet for his composition skills and that’s where he could show off his incredible skills in composing or rearranging songs. He was a mentor in this show, mentors were challenged by amateurs to rearrange songs in 24 hours, here Hua was challenged with a meme of a few seconds from an anime of the 90’s, The Monkey King. He didn’t sleep during these 24 hours and came out with this whole masterpiece of a song, totally new, managed to make it a modern piece of music, yet with a 90’s feel, amazing! I’ve never been a rap fan either but I love Hua’s rap. The Next show is a gold mine of Hua’s creations, all different styles, simply Hua’s style, since he always won, he was given the most difficult or improbable songs to rearrange and always managed to surprise everyone.
He is kinda amazing doing rap, spoken word, metal or pop. I prefer him doing them all as he does, I'm blown away by this guys abilities. I hope you will do more of him, and more from Singer.
Some have mentioned that this song was composed as a challenge to incorporate the riff of an 80s TV series “Journey to the West”, so to add on to it, the “Great Sage” refers to the Monkey God aka Sun Wukong, the monkey disciple to the monk Tripitaka on the way to the West to retrieve some Buddhist scriptures along with other disciples. It’s a fascinating story!
All singers on the SInger show are professional singers. Hua Chenyu is very famous in China. He has 37066611 followers on his Weibo (A China social media). His 2109 concert, 180000 tickets were sold out in less than 40 seconds. I'm not a big fan of RAP before I watch Hua's performances. Now I love Hua's RAP.
This song actually base on famous chinese series Journey To The West......... the monkey king which been worship by many chinese people. He (The Monkey King) claims himself as high as the heaven and only Buddha can keep him under bay. This song really say how he (The Monkey King) become Great Sage Equal To Heaven
This is from the show "The next". He was given this non-existing song 24 hours before this show by his opponent (the blonde guy, sometimes shown in the front). It was the starting line from the game/film (I'm not sure) Journey to the West from the ninetees without lyrics. So Hua Chenyu has to compose a completely new song and wrote the lyrics (done by a lyricist) in 24 hours. So nobody in the audience knows this song before. HCY is able to command his audience and normally they are willing to follow him. :) HCY is a one of four mentors in this show "The Next" and they are challenged by unknown performers. The mentors were given songs they have to rearange and perform within 24 hours. The challengers can perform whatever they want or they have prepared. It is a great concept of a show and funny to watch. The episodes of "The next" S1 are available with english subs on youtube. "The Singer" is a programm where already famous singers were invited to, to perform against each other. Also a stunning concept, because you can lose your reputation if you are not performing well, so I think it is quite a challenge too. Have a nice day and a lot more fun with Hua Chenyu. Greetings from Germany! :)
@@kristinelson5894 That's right! :)) I thought you have meant The Singer Show. But I agree, I can hardly think of a show like "The Next" with western stars.
YAY!! Thank you for continuing on the journey with HUA CHENYU! There are so many brilliant songs on his channel, it's just the beginning of the journey for many of us. "Madhouse" is brilliant! There was a song I heard a while ago, and now the video has disappeared, so it maybe better to just go to his channel with ENG SUBS. Seriously, I never loved rap until I heard him. It's a different style, almost poetic spoken word and has changed my world of listening. He is a superstar in my book. :) Best to you and yours from crazy fire zone in Oregon, USA.
His Mars Concert series are absolutely breathtaking and makes you want to see him live! The song I loved that was taken down only has a kinda crappy fan cam? Maybe someone out there can steer me in the right direction. It was originally called Salt of the Earth 2 and was live at a Mars concert with graphics of whales and more. Stunning!! This was the only version I could find: th-cam.com/video/jdJ_HtOjkTA/w-d-xo.html
@@barrichase I would suggest the official version of "Salt of the Earth" here, it was much better than the fan cam. th-cam.com/video/gwn1u5PlVj0/w-d-xo.html
So nice you are appreciating Hua's talent. In regards to interaction with his "Martians", he may give challenging interactions for them to sing with him. He will also introduce new songs before the concert for them to learn so they can sing with him. The concert is the only place he feels "at home" to interact with his fans.
I'm sure others have explained, but this song did not exist before this show, so there was no way for the audience to have heard it. He wrote this especially for this show/competition, so the fact that he was able to get the audience involved is all down to his ability to inspire the crowd. Yes, very much a Freddie vibe with him.
This song is an arrangement of the theme song of a very popular Chinese TV show called Journey to the West. (Next part from Wikipedia) Journey to the West (Chinese: 西遊記; pinyin: Xī Yóu Jì) is a Chinese novel published in the 16th century during the Ming dynasty and attributed to Wu Cheng'en. It is one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature. It has been described as arguably the most popular literary work in East Asia.[2] Arthur Waley's popular abridged translation, Monkey, is well known in English-speaking countries. Hua actually only took very few elements from the song. It is like a new song in my opinion. But the places he put these elements in the new song amazed me.
Woaah, talkin' about Anime, we (you, hua hua and me) are the same tho! Glad to hear we've got the same hobby🤣👍. I'was shocked when I watched this video because he rearranged this melody only in 24 hours and turned it into this great song. Happy you like it. More huahua please! Thank you!

You can check out the original one and you will see why everyone in that show were so shocked and amazed by Hua Chen Yu 😂 Hua Chen Yu his unique composition and stage presentation are so amazing I love everything about him😍
