This is a masterpiece in many ways, composing a whole piece of music, writing a full set of lyrics and memorizing them, all in 24 hours, it's just mind blowing. Another thing is the rap flow is steady and powerful till the end, the singing is great and parsed with a few awesome belts, gives me goosebumps everytime!
He just a most talented genius to me, I loved his performance, just like you said, he is fully put himself in the song, not just “performing” a song, a lot singer they sing very well & enjoyable, but you are “watching” their performance, Hua will drag you into the song , “make you felt what he felt “ special his emotion song❤, love your reaction, too🎉

Ive read the novel and i love it, but i hardly think thats necessary for appreciating a song. The lyrics stand on its own. In China its a bit different ofcourse since «everybody» of all ages know the story
The entire lyrics are actually referencing the novel, Journey to the West. You'd have to know the novel to get the references, actually. It's not meant to be interpreted outside of that context.
