I love your videos so thank you for that. You may have heard this before but just to be a little pedantic it is called the Trent-Severn Waterway as it is a combination of natural lakes, rivers, and man made canals or "cuts" - usually to accommodate the locks. Thanks again and sail safe, Joseph.
That was fun to watch and brought back a ton of memories. We had a family cottage between just up river from Frankford and we just loved playing on the river. Frankford was a great town and we used to hang out there as teenagers at a spot with the best fries and a juke box. Your right about the house boats. One evening a bunch of drunk idiots were so far off course they ran into our dock! The house boats were banned for a very long time. Four generation of our family enjoyed the river before the cottage was finally sold. My nephew liked it so much he bought a home on the river in Frankford. Look forward to watching more of your videos. Safe travels!
Danielle was one of the Parks Canada staff who sneaked us through Lock #1 just before closing, after we ran aground just before the lock entrance. She (and the others) were so kind. We were feeling kind of dumb that day! She works at Locks 1-7 (did you run in to her again?) and at Lock 7 she let us turn the lock wheel. At the time we thought we were special (!!!) but realized as we kept moving that Parks Canada staff let all sorts do their work. ;) She's been working the locks on the TSW for 8 years and became certified to operate the swing bridges along that section. I know it is months later but nice to see your videos of Canada finally being created and uploaded. While we were a few weeks behind you, it is still neat to see everything through a non-Canadian set of eyes. And, great to see and speak to you in person in Fort Myers. Cheers.
Really enjoy your “real” videos. Every looper seems to have things that make them nervous. We start from Jacksonville Fl at end of Feb. With two scheduled yard stops in Savannah and Solomons. Your time stamps are helping me plan how to pace ourselves. Thanks again for all the time these videos take.
I found your channel by chance, it popped up as a suggestion after watching another channel I follow about the TSW (boating with boogaboo). I’m hooked! The great loop is something I will do someday and I love watching your adventures and sweet Ollie. You guys are a great team! I grew boating out of the Midland/Penetang area of Georgian Bay and doing the TSW as a child for our summer vacation one year left a lasting impression. I’m looking forward to seeing your travels through my old stomping ground. I hope you enjoyed it’s beauty. Safe travels wherever you are now ✌🏻
My wife and I stumbled on your channel couple of weeks ago and we have been binge watching all your video from Florida to now we keep our boat on the Trent Severn near young’s point, and it’s so cool to see you guys enjoying the Trent Severn like we do,keep the video’s coming and hope you guys come back and experience more of our beautiful Canadian water ways

We just recently came across your channel and absolutely love your videos! We reside in the Kingston Ontario area and we boat the Rideau Canal and the Trent Severn waterway regularly. Imagine my surprise when I recently saw your video showing you guys travelling from Kingston to Trenton. You tied up at the same spot we do when we visit the Georgina Island National Park in the 1000 islands. We also travel with our pooch, (10 lbs yorkie-poo)so seeing Ollie on Pivot with you guys is just wonderful. Can’t wait to see the rest of your travels on the Trent Severn waterway and find out what you think about it. Keep up the great work, you guys are amazing to watch and a breath of fresh air on social media. All the best for 2023 🎉
We are boaters, sort of. First boat of any size was an Albin 27 aft cabin. Next was an Albin 32+2. We had considered getting a 36-43' trawler & doing the loop but decided against it. We have been thoroughly spoiled living in Bermuda & overnighted most every weekend during the summer since 1982. Boating in water too cold to spend hours swimming in is inconceivable to us, So we bought a 5th wheel RV. We have followed along the Erie Canal, the Trent Severn Canal, & done The River Road along the Mississippi, staying as close to the water as possible. Still love boats. A dedicated single diesel skipper. Just wish that boats did better with mountains & long distances. Planning our 5th trip to Alaska this year. More than 250,000 miles travelled since 2007.
Great day and job with all the locks! It looked like you all had such a fun time! Ollie looked very timid at the end…so cute! She probably knew a bath was in store for her…she smart! 😂 Safe travels you three❣️
Hello Guys ! We have been watching this adventure of yours (including the broken wrist" and now we find you in our own " back yard" ! We live in Napanee Ontario and keep our 1984 Carver 2807 Riviera in Belleville at Crates Marina. We have traveled up and down the Trent system many times and as you know, the farther you go the better it gets ! In August 0f 2022 we left Belleville with our destination being Bobcageon. Thank you for doing this and we look forward to your next video !
hey you 2! So happy to see and hear from you, we've been missing you!, but wow you guys are killin it!! Keep up the great adventures and all the best in '23!
Welcome to our summer playground, we boat out of south Lake Simcoe and use the Trent System a lot. don't mind docking with the wind pushing us on, a good push off the bow and a little rudder offset generally works to kick off the stern. Have now watched all your videos from Key West and having done the trip many times in the eighties things haven't changed a lot, lol. Graham & Sacha
What a fun episode ‼️ No anxiety, increased boating skills [yeah🎉], tons of smiles and fair weather. Also great warm day out on the water outfit m Jen. ✨ 🌊 💨 🛥🌞✨
Another great video! I am so looking forward to all of these on the Trent-Severn. I love your consistent humble attitude towards learning. Thanks in particular for describing your strategy when facing the high winds.
Another great video! A year earlier we did the first 6 locks and tied up in exactly the same spot you did ... fun seeing it over again. We will be going to Georgian Bay and the North Channel (from Gananoque area) this coming summer, look forward to watching your journey.
Nice video. I started my trip up the Trent Severn on Aug 3 and had the same wind issues. I will be doing some paint touch up to my bow. The Parks Canada staff are great and bend over backwards for you. I will keep track of your upcoming videos.
I saw in your most recent Sunday summary that you guys decided to do the Gulf crossing by stopping in Steinhatchee, Cedar Key and Crystal River. I can’t wait for that content to post (some day)… As I know most loopers cross in one long overnight trip but I think it would be a really nice alternative to see your experience of doing the smaller hops and how you guys navigated and where are you all anchored or stayed…
I wish I could have caught you at the beginning of this stretch to keep your camera ready at all times. The houseboats are great entertainment playing bumper boats and getting blown into the weeds and the Chinese fire drill when docking.
Gosh, while watching this I started to plan my family's adventures in to getting a trawler, boating the great loop.... is this how it starts?😱 Happy New Year!
That first houseboat looked like a rental. I imagine that many of them are rentals. Piloted by "Credit Card Captains". Which could explain the "fast and loose" with the rules. Good decision to steer clear
I’m a new fan. I plan on a T/S transit in a few years when I retire. I admit to awaiting your fresh episodes more and more as you’ve approached. Have you gone to the Bahamas yet or do you plan too? They’re on my list. Keep it up. Love your content Gus
Great question! The short answer is that you can stay as long as you want! The long answer is that every spot will have different rules. In most of the US, you can stay at an anchorage indefinitely, we definitely saw some boats that didn't look like they moved in years! Marinas typically will charge a daily, weekly, and monthly rate so it just depends on their availability. Some people will own a slip! Hope this helps answer your question!
Could you have done this last year? Canada was real late opening back up. Maybe Elliot's mishap turned out to work in your favor. (Not his unfortunately)
Welcome to my home stomping ( splashing ) grounds. I did most of ny boating north of Orillia up the Trent and Georgian Bay. To me, that is God's country. I'm really happy you're having a great trip. We love treating you loopers for slave labor on the locks. We used to use mules walking in circles, but when you started coming up said what the hell, lets use them instead .lmao. We don't have to feed you and pay us to do it. All kidding aside, can't wait to see your post when you get past Washago.
Trent-Severn Waterway is not refererred to as a "canal" because a high percentage of the route is "natural" navigation. I look forward to your continued adventure - especially as you traverse Big Chute Marine Railway which is the only one of its kind in North America. Soon after you enter Georgian, you would have probably passed by our family "cottage".
I know that you are much further now than Canada. But, what has your experience been with getting fresh/potable water? I've heard that some places have pretty expensive water. We are considering a reverse osmosis machine for our boat.
Huge fan of the channel. I do have a question about the locks in general and especially the Trent-Severn. How wide a boat (beam) can go through? Would a catamaran make it through this canal?
Guessing the 3 of you finished the Great Loop adventure and have moved on to bigger and better things. Would have been nice to see a wrap up of your trip. Have fun on your next adventure and enjoy life
A little surprise to see you securing your lines in the locks. We were told by lockmaster to never secure the line…if the line got caught in a crack as the boat is lifted or lowered, it could be disastrous. I know you’re not the only ones that do it, but give it some thought.
Definitely important Don! You can secure your lines when you first approach a lock, and then you will S the line, not tying it off for the duration of the lock! That is what we did in this video 😁
It's call the Trent -Severn Water way , not the Cannel system . Most American are gaga on how good the waterways are good in Ontario Canada compared to the U.S system . That's way most are looking forward to traveling the Seven system , before heading home State side .
I know the winds negatively affected your boating but be thankful. If it wasn't for the winds you guys would have been eaten alive at the end of your first day.
Hope you had an epic time on our canal ! I have had a small spot between lock 7 and 8 . I have done many fishing trips upwards of 200 miles in my little 14 Sylvan . Just a wonderful experience, the people, the sights, and of course world class fishing!! For you musky addicted, you will find near world record fish in these waters. Cheers to all my new American friends

Awesome, it is such a fun adventure!
It's kinda weird to say but I love you guys so glad I have found this channel 😀 or it found me Lol
Hi Guys :) Just checking in.hope your having safe travels. Hope to see ya guys soon. Have fun and be safe .
Love how they kept it old school with the original 1833 manually opening lock doors!

We had no idea that Nebo did so many things! The Trent-Severn Canal looks awesome so far and how fun that y'all got to help open the doors! 💪🏼
I'm glad you two enjoyed that stretch of locks. They look like some of the narrowest locks I've seen so far. 🤠

Interesting to see my wife’s family house from the water!
In the Rideau you can get a docking pass as well as the lock pass. It’s great if you can’t anchor out.
We call locks 1 - 6 the ice cream run, as you can make it from Trenton to bottom of lock 6, enjoy a ice cream and make it back before the locks close.
Thank you for sharing your experience 😊

Thought you had sank. Great video showing how the locks differ in Canada and the scenery seems still remote yet stores are just a short walk. Enjoy
The knife is a great idea. We had a line with a knot in it get stuck in the Jones Falls lock in the Rideau.

Catamaran no problem as long as your draft doesn't exceed 5ft.
Has Jen ever done a “line tying” tutorial ? She makes it seem effortless …….
No, she hasn't but that's a great idea! Lots of trial and error!
