    ABOUT US
    Hi! We are high school sweethearts from Atlanta, Georgia who decided to take a year off to travel around the world. Together we decided to create vlogs for our journey as a fun way to remember it. On September 15, 2019, we left Atlanta with 3 bags, 2 one-way tickets, and 1 goal of traveling for a whole year. Little did we know, 6 months later we would find ourselves in a nationwide lockdown in India. After spending 5 months in India, we came back to the United States and decided to purchase a 34’ Trawler, dive headfirst into boat life, and kick-off America’s Great Loop.
    The good, the bad, the ugly - and most importantly, the real and real funny. We’re not here to tell you “how it’s done.”, just how we’ve done it. And that whatever it is that’s calling you - the way you’ll do it is much more attainable than it may seem.
    Thank you for following us along our journey!

    Elliott, you need to take your A/C off the breaker stack that your inverter is powering. It (and the water heater) should be on a breaker that is ONLY energized via shore power. Startup spikes for the AC unit is what is popping your fuses. As soon as shore power is cut, the inverter starts inverting and the AC yanks too many amps. (I know this was six months ago. I hope you have fixed it by now)

    The Zebra mussels have been a real challenge in the Great Lakes and Ontario cottage country, they hurt so much if you step on them in the water!!! But they are filter feeders so they have cleaned the lakes til they are crystal clear. Nice benefit, but still yucky that they are here. Waving hello from the 1000 islands region. Love your series, thank you for all the videos

    You guys make me go back to my younger days. Like I said , the Trent and Georgian Bay was my haven. I have seen all you have seen in the USA, but from a truck. I love your videos and remind me of my youth. Everything you do is done with common sense and you have the knack of making it interesting as hell. No none of this we're great and look what we did. No bullshit and is either fact or good clean fun. New boaters can take alot of lessons and advice from your videos. I know I've complimented on your past videos, so here is another one. So thumbs up and stay safe.

    We finished our loop on Christmas Day in Jacksonville. We traveled thru Lake Erie and did not go through Canada. Watching your trip through the Trent Seven is encouraging us to go that way on our second loop which will be done on our trailerable C-Dory 25 in sections. You are the only Loop TH-cam we still follow. Keep up the good work. Tom and Joyce previously on the MV Redemption.

    As a marine surveyor, I've never seen a marine A/C unit powered by an on board inverter. A/C is typically powered by shore power or a generator. Plugged in at the dock, with the inverter on is pulling too much and asking too much of the batteries or back-feeding, tripping the dock pedestal. When you plug in, turn the inverter to 'Charging' mode, or turn the unit off entirely at the charger panel and and at the rotary. Don't over-fuse; the tripping is for a reason that needs fixing. You guys are fun to watch, thank you.

    • @svechappe6075
      @svechappe6075 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree, unless you have a sizable bank of lithium batteries, I've not seen where air conditioning is set up to run off the inverter. Perhaps running the inverter/charger with air conditioning may be pushing the limit of the 30A available at the shore pedestal, especially if they have any other ancillary loads. I wonder if they have just one shore power inlet or two. Typically boats fitted with air conditioning, especially if they have two A/C units (don't know if they have one or two), would have a second shore power inlet with a second 30A distribution panel on the boat. They would then use two 30A shore cords to fully serve the loads on the boat. We have three A/C units, so we're set up with a 50A panel and a 30A panel and corresponding shore power inlets. We then carry a variety of shore cords and adapters so we can adapt to a variety of shore power pedestals, especially when in the canals.

    On the Rideau Canal system that runs from Kingston to Ottawa, Ontario, we often raft 3 boats wide.

  • @RebelCowboysRVs
    @RebelCowboysRVs ปีที่แล้ว

    Breakers can have a pretty wide range that they can trip at an still be considered good. A 30 amp breaker actually kicks at about 27 amps or so if memory serves. An thats constant load. A short spike above that, like a AC motor starting, they are built to hold that too. But they are not made all that exact. So one breaker will trip sooner than the next. If you are near the limit of what a breaker can hold, you may trip some breakers an not others, even though they are rated the same. If you move from one plug to another like that an it fixes your problem, thats usually what you have ran in to. The first one kicks slightly sooner than the second one. Or the first one may actually be failing.

    I think you must lack a proper inverter disconnect switch between your house bank and inverter. My guess is that when you turned your house battery switch to "off" when you replaced the fuse, your batteries were still supplying current to the inverter through the fuse. Your inverter can kill you even if your house bank switch is in the "off" position. Clearly something is not the way you expected it to be or you would not have "sparkled" at the fuse block! You really need to study your system with that in mind. Research "do I need an inverter disconnect switch."

    • @SchoandJo
      @SchoandJo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think we do have the disconnect, and we did use it! What I think it was, is the location our solar system connects to our batteries and the inverter is elsewhere, and I didn’t disconnect that. So that was giving us a voltage which I didn’t expect 😬
