At 6:40 and 9:40 there are clues in the TGRI lab. For one, the lab looks nothing like a real lab. Second, there is an Utrom looking figure inside the pyramid in the lab.
THE OLD TURTLE DEN - by Tonight's Top Movie Moment I would’ve love to have seen this version but as a 90’s kid in that era with the kids & parents in the era it was in . it wouldn’t of happened look at what they said about batman returns ohh it’s too dark & scary not kid friendly etc etc 🙄
I really don't understand why they didn't go for that. They knew early on they weren't going to make him an utrom, so why not make him a film version of Baxter? Baxter has had many incarnations, and even some of the funny stuff the professor says is so baxter stockman-like. They honestly could've made like maybe 2 more minutes of film and switched some dialoque, if they wanted to make him "evil/crazy" (not necessary but possible), like force him to make "the anti-mutagen" and tell him they can and will handle the shredder so don't be loyal to him, etc. Even a redemption, who knows, given how much of a jerk he really seemed like at the beginning of the film.
I think the secret of the ooze was that it was just waste and not the intended byproduct. It was an accident, and the creation of the Turtles was an accident. That's not something you wanna hear about your own birth and Donny expresses as much. I love the bit where Splinter tells him not to confuse the details of his origin with his present self-worth. That's a lesson a lot of people need to learn.
We need a real turtle movie. A good turtle movie. I'm 35 yrs old and I'm ready. Even my 8 yr old son is ready...he has watched the original movie and secret of the ooz countless times. Even he prefers them movies over the modern ones.
Right. I'm 33, and I feel like these last two movies almost messed them up. My biggest peeve with the new Turtles is the fact that they're CGI and the old Turtles were 'real.' You could actually touch them.
I'd like to see the current IDW comic adapted to live action, like the Daredevil netflix series. Plenty of action, violence, plot and bit of humor but not like its rated R. If you're 35 and a shellhead for life you gotta check out the comic you'll love it.
The CGI based movies take it to far. I dont want the turtles seeming like superheroes flying threw the air and nearly indestructible. You cant relate to them as well. The final scene in the original movie where the turtles fought the shredder was so well done. No high flying over the top crap. Just the turtles using real martial arts against there greatest enemy.
@tyrone kinard Yes I agree. I am referring to the original 90s movie with the tirtles and shredder on the rooftop. I think I that version was well done dont you? I just feel it's so much more believable without highflying camera's and action that seems so impossible.
Seems like a pattern where the 90s hero movies started off great, but ended their trilogies with goofy half wit writing as if anyone under the age of 18 didn't remember what happened in the previous movies. I remember loving the heck out of the 1990 original TMNT, and having watched it again recently, I think it really holds up. It's sequels left a lot to be desired.
Blame all of our parents. They're the ones that complained about the first one being too violent, and that's probably one of the reasons for not going with the original script
I can't remember the context, but I legitimately used Shreddar's "The outside world rejects you" speech in a college essay. Definitely a Sociology class... I can't remember the prompt, but I remember not having to shy away from the fact that I was quoting a TMNT movie.
Lol I can never let go of how shredder becomes super shredder, makes no sense because of his armor and clothes changing through mutation lmao, but damn was it really awesome.
@tyrone kinard that rule only applies to the mutagen from the original cartoon. The ooze (a completely different substance) was chemical waste that was a byproduct of other experiments the Utroms were working on at TCRI, and its properties were basically accelerated evolution.
I mean...talking ninja turtles doesn't make any sense either..so i just went with it. But the SILLIEST was that guitar explosion..and a close second was dude doing the back flip all the way to the fucking stage.
@tyrone kinard by your logic, Splinter should've turned into a rat-turtle hybrid since he was last in contact with them. That's just not how the ooze works and never had outside of the Fred Wolf cartoon, where it's more specifically referred to as "mutagen" instead of ooze (and by extension, the 2k12 show which borrowed from that and did the same). The ooze's main qualities are rapid growth and intelligence, giving animals the ability to think and function similar to humans (sometimes limited by their age). Yes, we've never seen what a mutated human looks like for the most part, but it has functioned on that ruleset in most forms of media (Mirage Comics, film universe, 2K3 show, and IDW comics).
@tyrone kinard that just really feels like grasping at straws. Most info sources cite the ooze as being and evolutionary accelerant. The articles on the 87 and 2K12 series literally stated it was depicted differently than other mediums and operated according to what you said: turtlepedia.fandom.com/wiki/Mutagen
They are still great movies, could they have been better? yes, things can always be better, but these are classics. I just hold out hope that any new film, tries to be what the old movies were in terms of look and overall feel, but they use daredevil Netflix elements and influences from hellboy.
Neuro Mancer Oh yeah for sure looking back these movies could’ve been better and yes they are classics except 3 of course LOL and the first one is still my favorite hands down it would’ve been awesome if they had the feel of Daredevil or Punisher with a mix of Sam Raimis Spider-Man that for me would be an amazing movie also less CGI and more practical special effects preferably the new movies were CGI heavy and too goofy for me to enjoy they need to have an a little bit of a dark tone like the first one they seem to forget that the comics were dark in tone let’s hope the re-reboot takes this into account and makes it a well balanced movie with a good script to boot hopefully.😁👍🏽
tyrone kinard Not really they were marketing it towards the kids so of course they based it off the 87 cartoon with some elements of the comics they weren’t going to be killers and the throwing away their weapons only happened at the end of the first movie because Shredder made them so they complied so that he wouldn’t kill Leonardo and the second movie because the parents complained about the first one being to violent so they went with the more slapstick comedic route in the second film but in hindsight they really weren’t that bad except the third installment and the Michael Bay movies too imo.🤷🏽♂️😁👍🏽
tyrone kinard they still used them in fights watch the movie again you’re getting the second movie confused with the first one it was a kids movie they’re not going to have them kill people come on man be realistic man.
Actually I remember where them telling us that the professor was supposed to be an utrom. When I was a little kid I had a behind the scenes video for The Secret of the Ooze. One of the things they talked about was that the Professor was supposed to be an Utrom but that they didn't want to have the kids get him confused with Krang. That's why they dropped the Utrom subplot.
Ever since I first heard of the Utrom scene years ago I'd wished it had been included. Though I must admit as a kid I would have thought it was supposed to be Krang.
That's a piss poor excuse in my opinion cause who the fuck were tokka and razar? Bebop Rocksteady knock offs. Having the utrom in the story and following the comics would justify everything and could easily be explained in the storyline. We kids back then weren't fucking stupid. They fucked it all up and we got this bullshit 3rd movie. What a waste of potential.
just watched secret of the Ooze last week while eating Pizza. i ended up quoting it lol , "hey look it's Raph" " Yeah a little too Raph " LOL. yeah, not watch it in a long time, it was good to watch it again. those 90s Turtle dudes make everything better when you're feeling down.
I always thought as a kid the " Secret of the Ooze " was pertaining to the Story and history of the turtles that Master Splinter explained to the Turtles when he felt ready to tell them the truth about themselves .
They should of went with the original storyline plan. That would of been a life changer for me if that was done. I was a big tmnt fan as a kid. That would of been cool as hell to see krang, mousers, etc. Probably was cut due to having a budget I bet. I loved the 2nd movie much as the 1st one though.
I loved 2 near as much as first one initially except for the final fight with super shredder not being the turtles kicking his butt and instead shredder being stupid and killing himself. As of last week though… rewatching the first movie…. Literally cried tears of joy! It was awesome and held up awesomely…. And part 2 doesn’t hold up quite as well anymore… although I still enjoy it a lot.
Interesting. As somebody who never read the Mirage comics (I knew comics existed, but was never into comics in general, and the couple books I did have were just adaptions of cartoon episodes so I thought that's all the comics were), I had no idea that the utroms were an established race prior to the early 2000's cartoon. I had always just assumed that series took the idea of Krang and expanded upon it. I feel like every time I watch a video related to TMNT lore, I learn that more and more details I once complained about for being changed in later shows were in fact returned to their original form, and it was instead the cartoon I grew up with that got it wrong.
I remember those books. They were short books with stories from the comics or something yeah? I remember checking them out of library and got denied. You don't need that many books! Shitty librarian now that I think about it.
Yeah, I found out about this a little while ago myself. The revelation of Prof. Perry being an alien Utrom would have been really cool and a much better way to leave off with him. If you think about it the story in Secret was never fully told because the REAL 'secret' was never revealed. I understand, however that there were two problems with the professor's big reveal: 1. They weren't sure how to pull it off. They were afraid that practical effects would have looked to cheesey for this particular character and CGI was still in it's early stages and, even though it could be used to great effect (just look at Terminator 2 and Jurassic Park), it was probably to expensive for them to use. 2. We have to bare in mind that the 1987 animated series was still on at the time so they were also afraid that a lot of us (both kids and adults alike) would mistake him for Krang. * sigh * It's nice to imagine what would have been. Sadly though, that's all we can do now, imagine.
I think they went with Tokka & Razar instead of Bebop & Rocksteady was cuz kids already had the action figures of the latter. All about the monaaaayyy!!!
I’d never been a HUGE fan of turtles 2, as an 8 year old I liked the movie but it just didn’t hit as hard as the original to me, I know now as a 37 year old that the storyline didn’t move me and by the time the third movie rolled around when I was 10 I started imagining better sequels to part one. The first reimagining was part 2, instead of bringing the shredder back right away and resurgence on the foot clan, bring another of the turtles villains to life. With part one ending with Splinter being a key, using not only his wisdom but master level skill in using the nunchucks to get Shredder hanging over the rooftop, catching the knife in hand and dropping him, it would’ve made sense to capitalize on. What better way to do that than to introduce, The Rat King as the antagonist in part 2, using and expounding on the storyline from one of the cartoon episodes where The Rat King gets Splinter under the spell of his flute and the Turtles have to deal with getting beat by their master until at some point they figure out a way to over power the Rat King and release Splinter from the spell. Then reimagine part 3, where the Shredder re-emerges to execute his revenge, he restrengthens the foot, and not only that introduce Baxter Stockman as another antagonist. Have the foot try to rob his lab for money/supplies and are defeated by Baxter’s “Mousers” and Shredder enlists him and the Mousers in trying to find the Turtle Den by sniffing out Splinter etc. even as a child I felt these were way better ideas than that which they gave us. When I watch Turtles the movie, I never get the notion that I should watch 2 and I had 3 on tape back in the day and recorded a Bulls game over it when Jordan came back 😂
That's an interesting idea, but then wouldn't it make more sense to introduce the Mousers in the 2nd film to deal with the huge surge in the rodent population in New York? If Rat King was controlling all the rats, then something must be brought into deal with him and the rats? Maybe he seizes control of the Mousers and uses them against the turtles?
tyrone kinard no, as I stated these were all my childhood ideas, I didn’t get into the comics my affinity with the turtles cane like most of us with the cartoons in which the Rat King was a reoccurring villain. So whether or not he was a comical figment of splinters imagination he still would’ve made for a better villain in the sequel than what the sequel gave us
To address the Bebop and Rocksteady villains rumor at the end, I remember seeing in a documentary or in some commentary that either Laird, Eastman, or both of them did not like Bebop and Rocksteady. Those characters were created by the cartoon, not their comic. This is one of the changes where they put their foot down, and Tokka and Razzar were a compromise they agreed to.
At 6:40 and 9:40 there are clues in the TGRI lab. For one, the lab looks nothing like a real lab. Second, there is an Utrom looking figure inside the pyramid in the lab.
I got to be honest tmnt secret of the ooze is my favorite tmnt movie I know it’s not the best the first one is without a doubt but secret of the ooze is my favorite one and I think it would have been cool to see this but I think the reason they cut it out is because it was mainly made more for kids the reason they had the turtles barley use their weapons since they tried to get more kids to see it and get toys made but it still would have been cool to see
@@gurvmlk If you look up Kevin Clash, Splinter's voice is the only one that makes sense that it came from that guy loli I think he also voiced Howard Handupme, the news anchor on Dinosaurs too.
I didn't really consider these ideas at all when the film was first released, I did however thought that when I watched the film, that Rocksteady and Bebop would appear in the film somehow. While on the same website IMDB, I noticed that it did state that the people who created the movie wanted the duo to appear but Eastman and Laird declined the idea, hence why we have Tokka and Rahzar instead, as for Professor Perry as an Utrom, it is an interesting idea I would've liked to see, just to see how that scene would turn out, but I pictured it differently, tbh. The idea I had was toward the end, with April's voice, we notice Professor Perry opening his shirt to reveal the Utrom inside. I believe that a third film involving the TGRI Researchers trying to head on home, only for the turtles to interfere with that, would be an awesome plot to see.
The secret of the ooze was: "Shhhh, the 3rd movie isn't going to be very good but don't tell anyone because we need to ride this cash cow into the sunset."
@@RandoLePerson Raph uses his sai to catch a pizza slice, Donny uses his bo against Tokka (though to no avail), and Mikey uses cold cuts like nunchucks, that's about the extent of the weapon action in part 2. The Turtles having weapons wasn't banned in the U.S. though the use of Nunchucks was in the U.K. Mikey ended up getting a grappling hook in place of his chucks in the animated series and movie sequels worldwide regardless. There were complaints from parent groups after the first film was made, they felt it was too dark and violent.
@@RetroCynical I used to think it it a close tie when I was younger but on watching it now, the second movie is the worst of the three in story and fight scenes. The story makes no sense at times. There are several times when April could have told the police about the Foot and their whereabouts but doesn't. Prof. Perry at no time after his rescue attempts to contact his colleagues for any type of scientific help in developing the anti-mutagen, instead relying on his memory and Keno to go shopping for ingredients! The fight at the TCRI building, there was no reason for a confrontation and risk losing the ooze and alerting the turtles to the Foot's revival. The fight scene at TCRI is awful compared to the fight scenes in the other two movies. The end of fight at the junkyard, when they flee to the sewers, also makes little sense. No one in the Foot is able to jump or climb over a car to chase after the turtles? There's other things here and there but these things just kill it for me now. The main thing holding the third movie back, IMO, is when the turtle costumes look bad, they look bad. But the story and fight scenes are much better than the second movie.
@@ENiceGeo I'm really only a huge fan of the first film, the other 2 I can watch for nostalgia and the overall cheese factor. I would disagree that the second is the worst but would say 3 could have been better if done correctly. It just looks really, really, bad. As far as fight scenes go I think Its comparing rotten apples to rotten oranges. Part 3 has so many plot holes and contradictions. The way they explain the transference of bodies from one time to another, the "swap" I guess you could say, doesn't follow the explanation. The fact that April just happens to meet up with Casey's ancestor that just happened to be captured in Japan and look exactly like Casey, the fact that it's just trying to be the 3 stooges and Back to the Future 3 combined are just a tiny list of the many things that make it cringey. Besides the unnecessary usage of Vanilla Ice, I can still enjoy part 2 as a movie. Yeah I can look at part 2 now as an adult and point out the flaws and nonsense but part 3 is difficult to watch without wanting to fall asleep.
Love secret of the ooze, and I always figured it was the revelation that it was the company tcri behind the ooze, and it sheds light on where it came from, honestly I love the comics, but the aliens always felt to fantastical for that time, so I never thought to connect them, but that's cool, would of been better than the pt 3 we got, would love if nick made a sequel that takes place just after secret of the ooze, mixing daredevil and hellboy elements making a bit darker, more martial art and alien based ninja turtles movie, that did what the OG pt 3 was supposed to do, but do it right with all practical effects enhanced by cgi, but with the new terminator Halloween and star wars, they would most likely ruin it, and put in a female turtle when PL promised fans, there would never be another 5th turtle after that POS live action series that shoehorned in venus. Also anyone else ever wonder why the shredders armor mutated when he drank the ooze at the end of part 2? he should of had the same armor, and just been a massive hulk or creature, wth did his spikes and helmet change? Looks badass, but I also wondered about that, maybe he poured it on himself, instead of drinking it.
@@isaacdenley1922 I just noticed that the last time I watched it. I sat there thinking, wait... ooze only reacts to organic tissue, the turtles didnt evolve with their knee and elbow pads already apart of their bodies. They simply grew into humanoid turtles. I admit, the armor is really badass, and as a kid, the super shredder toy, was the shredder toy I played with. Along with the ninja turtles 2 figure that were made out of rubber, and felt like turtles skin rather than plastic. SO i was running over the scenario in my head, about how it was possible. And im thinking, maybe when shreddrt landed, it could of drank some of it, then crushed the vial on his face and chest. causing his whole being to mutate, and the ooze maybe reacts to enhancing inanimate objects, as well as flesh. So he wasnt just super shredder, but super shredder in super armor. Or its just a cool stylistic design choice to sell toys. But I would of liked to have seen shredder transform. Maybe if they ever make that tmnt sequel to the 90s film, they will have super shredder to contend with, along with a practical effects bebop and rock steady. Guys in suits, but again, enhanced by mo cap. Best way to bring the turtles to life, is to put the actors in practical body suits that look very much like the originals, and maybe put on a turtle head shaped visior or helmet with dots on their face. You could easily make them practical enhanced by mo cap to bring them to life, instead of entirely cgi monstrosities.
Wow, to hear and see someone else bring to life what I said so long ago is awesome. The scene where Donatello and Splinter were talking about their origins has remained one of my favorites. The tone, Don's worry, the music etc followed by Sprinters wise saying has always been great, but also left so much room for curiosity as your video says. I love it man, this is great.
1:47 what was that thing in the glass pyramid? during the fight with the last can of ooze with the footclan scene? it was obviously put there on purpose????
My understanding is that we didn't get Bebop and Rocksteady due to licensing issues. They were not Mirage characters, they were whipped up by surge licensing/playmates for the 1st toy run and cartoon series. Secret of the Ooze is a textbook case of sequelitis. The first movie was an indy flick, made with passion by talented people who gave a shit. Once it made a ton of money, the studio suits step in. Even though it had a higher budget it wasn't remotely as good as the first one. Sadly it was just downhill after this.
There’s no way Krang was going to make me it on screen after parents complained about the Turtles using their weapons too much in the first film forcing them to cut back in part 2.
And to think we were robbed of a Jim Henson's Creature Shop Utrom. Then again, I would like to think there exists a Secret of the Ooze script that kept the tone of the original movie, Casey Jones, a lack of Super Shredder, and NO forced in Vanilla Ice cameo.
Funny. I never thought that scene like that until recently. Before watching this, I borrowed the TMNT blu Ray from my family and watched it all. Enjoying the classic movie and the animated movie. And then while watching TMNT 2: Secret of the Ooze. Made me think about the professor and when he picked up the big vile of ooze, he ran off and was never seen again. And at the end, he left a message for the turtles. And now just watching this, it really made me think. Haha. Love the video and info you share for us. Thanks.
Great video! I've heard this before about the Professor, and I remember reading somewhere that it was removed cause the kids would mistake him for Krang. I also remember reading that Leonardo was originally supposed to kill Super Shredder with his katana but it was removed cause of being too violent. Anyway, keep making these awesome Turtles videos. :)
At first i thought -oh man, here comes some loose conspiracy theories. But, this sounds interesting. And it would have been such sweet cliffhanger. Can we redo it? Reboot it? An honest way to get away from Bays hideous creatures, and reshape Secret of the ooze, and its successor, in to what it could (and maybe should) have been. Keep up the good work.
I think for the new turtles movie (Should it be a trilogy) should try this version of the Utroms story again and actully follow through. Utroms were always something you built up for in past series and to reveal a character we've known since the first or second film was an Utrom the whole time, building up to an eventual 'Dimension X' movie, would be amazing to see with a movie budget.
It seems like the studios interference ultimately derailed the 1990s TMNT franchise. Yes it's obvious they were trying to tie the story to Krang, Dimension X and other mutants. But instead of sending the turtles on fantastic off-world adventures in the 3rd film, they copped out and went with a lame time travel idea. Probably due to budget constraints.
I wish an Utrom story happend. I grew up with the cartoon and had hoped for the same dark grittiness of the first with the dark heavily adult themes in the comics. TMNT sort of became a joke after Ooze, while yes I agree it is a fun movie to watch. But I really wanted Bebop and Rocksteady in the Utrom realm part of the Turtles. I think the project was just too expensive to make, and while it could have been done recently; instead of keeping the turtle design, I'm sure more time and money was spent on the redesign that no one asked for. The real fans I feel want the Utrom world on screen, but it is a bit gritty for younger audiences.
I enjoyed TMNT 2 for what it was at the time, and I still do. But I agree that the “Secret” of the ooze did leave the plot with loss ends. Like basically there should have been Krang in a robot body along with the Utrons that created the ooze along with Baxter Stockman as a TCRI employee and the two mutants be Bebop and Rocksteady teaming up with the Shredder and his foot clan. It would have been a lot to cram up, but it would have made the movie a lot more epic! Especially to please all the kids and fans alike to see there favorite turtle villains be brought to life on the big screen. In that way, turtles 3 would have been the real Turtles in time when they face off against the Triceratons. Now that would have been an awesome end to the turtles original trilogy instead of the embarrassing sequel we got back in 1993.
In the lab there was a glass pyramid containing a brain. Perry was supposed to have been an Utron and the brain was supposed to have been an Utron sleeping with the Perry Body being to work independently on an almost wireless telecenitik basis.
I always thought Bebop and Rocksteady made more sense to be the Mutants for Secret of The Ooze. When I found out they weren't, I was confused on why these two new guys were there instead.
I heard that the reason they change the idea of Jordan Perry of being an Utrom (which I like) it's because they worried the audience mistaken the Utrom as Krang.
Thanks for this video! I think the idea of Professor Perry as an Utron would’ve been very interesting. As a kid I wanted Bebop and Rocksteady to be in the movie instead of the two used.
Nothing against Paige Turco (2)....... but Judith Hoag back at the farm helped me become a man as a kiddo. She is a sassy, freckly, lady and she will always be my April O'Neil.
@@c.f.pedraza4057 I like it when the oh internet can agree on some things ha, even when I have to disagree with a one Mr. Wizzleteets, a great Ren and Stimpy reference. That scene at the end where shes all," Would you shut up and kiss me?" to Casey...... Welp, call it a night bud.
Great video this is really entertaining secret of the uses one of my favorite movies. Although when you watch it you always feel like there's more to it. Thanks for covering this that was good information.
I bet there would have been a lot of confusion among Children because they would have assumed Professor Perry was Krang! Some people would have said they retconned Krang to be a good guy! IT would have been Confusing because most children only knew the 87 cartoons and not the original story! I was a kid when this came out and the thing that confused me was Raphael Character, the cartoon had him as the wisecracking jokester but the Movie had him as an angry hot head and I was like WTF did they do to Raphael? The Utrom thing would have really confused me back then
@tyrone kinard I think you misunderstood what I was saying. I am looking at this from my perspective as an 11-year-old boy who only exposure to the Turtles was 87 Cartoon and the Archie Comic version of TMNT. I had no idea the original Turtles were the Mirage Comic version or their original story. So from my perspective and other 11-year-olds and younger perspective If they saw an Utron inside of Dr. Perry they would have assumed it was Krang and that they changed him from and Evil Villain to a good guy! I don't think the 87 cartoons ever called Krang an Utrom so I would have been lost if they put that in the movie, Just like I was lost when they had Raphael's original Personality in the movies! I am not saying he would be Krang I am saying the kids of the 90s would be confused about who he was.
@@sonnywoods6846 exactly. Although the Krang character was based off of the Utroms as one can obviously see; instead of the cartoon focusing on the whole race of them, mixed with a too complex back story for the kids of the day, (1980s and 90s) they decided to just make one Utrom-like character to add to the villains and have a great dynamic with the cartoon Shredder. It still worked well in the end.
It's a great movie if you're a little child and love the fact that the only time Leonardo uses his sword he throws them into the ceiling to kick somebody.
idk...when he couldnt believe that the ooze were all an accidental thing for them, I accepted that. Even at that age, I had a very hard time getting into religion. It just didn't make sense to me that all these different religions who don't get along in some way, all think THEY are the on the correct path and everyone else be damned. So, by 92, at age 7, I had already accepted the idea that we're just alive for a short time. We don't have a real true purpose. It's all just some random things that came together and here we are. So..when I finally saw the movie at home, on vhs..i heard that comment and I was like, "nah..you're just accidental ninjas. Be happy. You're ninjas and get to eat pizza whenever you want." And as I got older, I feel more validated in my belief that we're all just here. so I still look at that comment in the movie as Donnie just not being able to come to terms. Wanting to be part of something greater...which sends him searching..and eventually he'll probably become some mutant bible thumper lol
Exactly. Donatello was simply having an existential crisis because he couldn't accept that perhaps his mutation didn't have the deeper meaning he was hoping for. As for Splinter's words, he was just simply trying to console his son through that in a way that would put Donatello's mind at ease for the time being until he could accept that truth.
Gotta love that I just watched this on Netflix about 2 hours ago and I get my first ninja turtle recommendation in years from a channel I've never seen. Thanks, government surveillance!
It would've been cool to see that Utrom version. I actually didn't have any idea about them. Anyway, whatever the did or should have done, they surely should have continue it with the movie III
I remember in the mid 2000s I went back and read all the original turtles comics, and when it got to the TCRI part obviously you remember Secret of the Ooze, and I immediately thought "so is the professor a krang?". Man the original Comic is good and really fun and different from the original cartoon and the other iterations, its actually really good stuff for turtles fans. I definitely recommend checking out the original comic for those interested.
Man, i just wanna say you put the best Hip hop beats in the background of your videos. Like the one that starts around the 5:00 mark. I saw some good ones on your other videos too. Idk if you make them but i love it
i have always had this feeling that right after the scene where shredder returns and says there is only one thing left, revenge. the scene after, the tone of the movie shifts to a even more lighter form.
Master splinter always dropped knowledge. And i agree i thought about this 2. Sadly i was too young to get it and then 3 came out and never really thought about it again. Great video
I totally get why they went this direction. My only exposure to TMNT were cartoons andntoys. If Perry had turned out to be a squishy pink alien driving an android around i woulda been like "why is Krang acting like a goodguy?"
In the early 2000s, there was talk of making a Turtles 4 (direct sequel to this series) and it was going to open with Shredder coming back and Leo cutting his head off (they said they wanted it to be pg13). I can't remember if they said it would then go into Krang territory.....but boy I wish they had made it.
I've read in the Mirage comics that the reason why Bebop and Rocksteady were not in the film was because Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman fought tooth and nail against having those characters in the film, since they were not created by the duo, so instead they gave the studio Tokka and Rahzar.
I remember reading somewhere that it was Laird who refused to let Bebop and Rocksteady into the film. Those characters were part of the Fred Wolf cartoon, and not the original comic. Laird said he hated the characters and refused to let them in the movie. Thanks, Laird. Way to give the fans what they want.
When the poster first came out I remember seeing big shadows behind the turtles,I remember my brother telling me that's beebop and rocksteady,I thought to my self it has to be them, was so disappointed when I found out it wasn't them, that movie would have been insane if we got to see a live action awesome costume version of them
I Remember Donatello The Smart Ninja Turtle In Purple Was Wanting More Answers To, What Professor Perry Said On, The Mutangen Was Accidental Splinter Told Don Not To, Worry On, His Origin Until Someday
It would have been cool to see the Utroms in the movies. Grew up on the original cartoons and got into the old Mirage comics in my teens. Came to prefer the weird and darker stories in the comics. To be honest I don't think I've ever seen the third movie in the original "trilogy" it just seemed so far removed from the first two that I never bothered with it.
I remember reading somewhere that Perry was going to be revealed as an Utrom as a stinger, but the studio decided to cancel it because most of the audience would assume he was actually Krang. Also heard that Bebop and Rocksteady could not appear due to a rights issue.

THE OLD TURTLE DEN - by Tonight's Top Movie Moment do a profile on the rat king
At 6:40 and 9:40 there are clues in the TGRI lab. For one, the lab looks nothing like a real lab. Second, there is an Utrom looking figure inside the pyramid in the lab.
THE OLD TURTLE DEN - by Tonight's Top Movie Moment I would’ve love to have seen this version but as a 90’s kid in that era with the kids & parents in the era it was in . it wouldn’t of happened look at what they said about batman returns ohh it’s too dark & scary not kid friendly etc etc 🙄
is it true that parents got mad and petition the movie because it was to dark and violent, that's why they did not use there weponds?
chito Im yeah
The Secret of The Ooze is that it turned The Shredder into Kevin Nash.
Super Shredder!!! ^_^
A quad was most definitely torn in the making of that post.
What a horrible and big sexy fate
Ooze can make me a super being but can’t fix a quad
It would of been cool to see the shredder doing Power bombs on the turtles
I remember hoping the professor was going to be Baxter Stockman
I never understood why he wasn't use for the movie as the professor.
Same
That’s what me and my brother kept calling him
Same with Tokka and Rahzar
We kept calling them bebop and rocksteady
I really don't understand why they didn't go for that.
They knew early on they weren't going to make him an utrom,
so why not make him a film version of Baxter? Baxter has had many incarnations,
and even some of the funny stuff the professor says is so baxter stockman-like.
They honestly could've made like maybe 2 more minutes of film and switched some dialoque,
if they wanted to make him "evil/crazy" (not necessary but possible), like force him to make
"the anti-mutagen" and tell him they can and will handle the shredder so don't be loyal to him, etc.
Even a redemption, who knows, given how much of a jerk he really seemed like at the beginning of the film.
Baxter Stockman was black
I think the secret of the ooze was that it was just waste and not the intended byproduct. It was an accident, and the creation of the Turtles was an accident. That's not something you wanna hear about your own birth and Donny expresses as much. I love the bit where Splinter tells him not to confuse the details of his origin with his present self-worth. That's a lesson a lot of people need to learn.
Not a secret. We already knew that form the first movie.
@Adam X - Well then your son is very smart because he knows a good TMNT movie when he sees one. 🙂
I hope they set the new TMNT movie in the 80's or 90's. That would be really cool.😀
With vanilla ice
I miss more practical effects
Me too. I hope it's also dark and gritty
Wait... There's gonna be another movie???
@@joshofalltradesvanveen807 IKR? A new movie? Who is behind it? I can only hope it is as good as the original.
The articles on the 87 and 2K12 series literally stated it was depicted differently than other mediums and operated according to what you said:
turtlepedia.fandom.com/wiki/Mutagen
@tyrone kinard Well the last thing he was holding was a woman...so that could have been interesting.
The first draft of the script would’ve been way better than the actual movie they released.
As a fan, I agree. However, look to the future, Eastman may be trying to work with Netflix for the gritty live action Turtles series we crave.
I like how David Warner went on to voice Ras Al Ghul, who had a whole pit of ooze!
Ever since I first heard of the Utrom scene years ago I'd wished it had been included. Though I must admit as a kid I would have thought it was supposed to be Krang.
That's partly why it was left out. Kids didn't know about the Utroms back then, and only knew Krang.
@@ds1984-p2g Well, they put in Tokka and Rahzar because Eastman and Laird didn't want Bebop and Rocksteady in the film.
I have never once heard of someone associating the Vanilla Ice song with Turtles 1.
But there IS a turtle rap from Turtles 1
T-U-R-T-L-E POWER!!!.....
Y’all can thank me for kicking that speaker over and ending that god awful concert
@@Floridaburg- Thanks and all hail Master Shredder! 🙏
Turtles 3 was such a waste. If only they had continued the story of 2 and revealed the Utrom, Baxter etc.
@Jake LaGotta 3 was far sillier than 2. Even as a kid watching it it made me cringe. All the animatronics in 3 look horrendous.
just watched secret of the Ooze last week while eating Pizza. i ended up quoting it lol , "hey look it's Raph" " Yeah a little too Raph " LOL. yeah, not watch it in a long time, it was good to watch it again. those 90s Turtle dudes make everything better when you're feeling down.
AEthelred Williams best line EVER
The secret was vanilla ice performing ninja rap. Leonardo said it on Vlad tv. Three years ago.
tmnt and vlad shouldnt even be in the same sentence
Professor Perry looks like Baxter Stockman from the cartoon.
Pre or post cross-mutation? That could be a savage insult depending on your answer lol.
As a kid, I always figured that was Stockman but he used a different name for whatever reason.
They should've used Baxter.
I always thought Kuato from "Total Recall" (1990), was inspired by Krang..
I think they went with Tokka & Razar instead of Bebop & Rocksteady was cuz kids already had the action figures of the latter. All about the monaaaayyy!!!
They should have just called the Utrom Krang.
Everytime i watch the second one my brain always just kind of goes all over because its so different
Just look at the computer systems in TGRI's headquarters, you can tell it was supposed to be alien technology
Well it kinda made sense not to introduce the Utroms because of Krang, I thought the third or fourth movie was going to be the city at war storyline
tyrone kinard cerebus turtles?
tyrone kinard oh
@tyrone kinard
Renet and Sevanti Romero are from "Cerberus"?
I never knew that.
@tyrone kinard oh. I thought so. I misunderstood the original comment and was very confused
I always use to say that the weird lkng thing in the middle in the glass triangle was a krang/utrom
I got to be honest tmnt secret of the ooze is my favorite tmnt movie I know it’s not the best the first one is without a doubt but secret of the ooze is my favorite one and I think it would have been cool to see this but I think the reason they cut it out is because it was mainly made more for kids the reason they had the turtles barley use their weapons since they tried to get more kids to see it and get toys made but it still would have been cool to see
The sequel was a really fun movie, although they didn't really use their weapons. The 3rd ninja turtles was a flop
I have the Same opinion the sequel is underrated
Even to this day I can’t believe the guy who did Elmo played splinter
Wait, what?
And Baby Sinclair from Dinosaurs.
@@floyd2386 Now see, that one makes sense.
Retro Cynical this 2nd movie sucks arse! Let alone the third, the first is the best and only movie I like to think exists
@@1985Link part 2 is definitely a major step down from the first but not as bad as the third in my opinion. The first movie is the only one I adore.
It's weird but it's atleast consistent in the franchise that his armour changes with him
@@isaacdenley1922 I just noticed that the last time I watched it.
I remember watching Barbra Walters interview the turtles on TV as it was broadcasted.
It was awesome to see as a kid. I loved it.
1:47 what was that thing in the glass pyramid? during the fight with the last can of ooze with the footclan scene? it was obviously put there on purpose????
The turtles didn't even use their trademark weapons in this crummy movie. The outrage mob ruined it, before it ever came out.
SJW's live in all generations, we're only seeing them now more because of the internet.
Plus people where complaining about the original movie was "so dark so violent".
I remember that well! It was a big hang up for a lot of parents!
An immensely better concept for Turtles 3 than what we got
Eastman and Laird didn’t want Bebop and Rocksteady in the movie is what I’ve heard
Because the studio wanted to tone them down even more, so they made Tokka & Rahzar instead whom are basically hulking dumb babies, as Shredder put it.
Beau Walker wring
I heard it was a rights issue
These days, any Utrom reveal would probably happen in a mid- or post-credits scene...
Still be cool, though. 😊
The Ooze was the secret of TGRI. Self explanatory.
Vanilla Ice in the new movie they’re making would be EPIC
Damn it! Now I'm in the mood for pizza.
There’s no way Krang was going to make me it on screen after parents complained about the Turtles using their weapons too much in the first film forcing them to cut back in part 2.
Krang isn’t violent though
@@CompactRisk They would've probably thought he was too gross or something.
And to think we were robbed of a Jim Henson's Creature Shop Utrom. Then again, I would like to think there exists a Secret of the Ooze script that kept the tone of the original movie, Casey Jones, a lack of Super Shredder, and NO forced in Vanilla Ice cameo.
I appreciate the hard work you put into these videos so much bro!
One TGRI employee doesn't want the secret revealed.
Thanks.
I hope we get a new set of movies that use the ideas the first two films didn't use. It be nice to see a GOOD live action of comic book storyline.
They should do what Terminator dark fate did and ignore the 3rd film and start from after secret of the ooze and finish what coulda been a great story
Turtles should start over. No Oozizyz soft reboot or Dark Ooze or whatever.
They are rebooting it...
Actually there is a reboot but unfortunately it sucked and didn't have the greatness like the originals had.
"Go Ninja, Go Ninja, Go!!".. I LOVED that when I was a kid!! Lol
I heard somewhere that Rat King was going to be the villlain in the movie before been replace with Shredder.
Perry was supposed to have been an Utron and the brain was supposed to have been an Utron sleeping with the Perry Body being to work independently on an almost wireless telecenitik basis.
i watch every video and i never say anything but this is my fav turtle movie and fav subject great job
I always thought Bebop and Rocksteady made more sense to be the Mutants for Secret of The Ooze.
When I found out they weren't, I was confused on why these two new guys were there instead.
That would actually be an awesome storyline to explore in a future movie, if it'd follow the original movies.
I would like to point out the design of the ooze canister changes between the first movie's flashbacks and the secret of the ooze
The secret of the ooze was that it made April way hotter in this movie.
I agree
With less acting abilities.
Nothing against Paige Turco (2)....... but Judith Hoag back at the farm helped me become a man as a kiddo. She is a sassy, freckly, lady and she will always be my April O'Neil.
@@mattmillah428agree 100 %
@@c.f.pedraza4057 I like it when the oh internet can agree on some things ha, even when I have to disagree with a one Mr. Wizzleteets, a great Ren and Stimpy reference.
That scene at the end where shes all," Would you shut up and kiss me?" to Casey...... Welp, call it a night bud.
Great video this is really entertaining secret of the uses one of my favorite movies. Although when you watch it you always feel like there's more to it. Thanks for covering this that was good information.
I think the utrom story line would of been great. I wish we could ignore the 3rd movie and get a legitimate sequel to the first 2
I bet there would have been a lot of confusion among Children because they would have assumed Professor Perry was Krang! The Utrom thing would have really confused me back then
No, it would have sucked just like the 3rd one did. Its a good thing they kept the plot down to earth like the first one.
It still worked well in the end.
they should have made the new TMNT movies with that same look and tone of the first 1990 film.. use the old school practical FX..
Number one! Go ninja go ninja go!
10 Flips now!!
helicoptersrkool I made another funny! Hahahahahahahaha
You dirty rat you killed my brother...mmm you dirty rat
Be happy. You're ninjas and get to eat pizza whenever you want."
And as I got older, I feel more validated in my belief that we're all just here. so I still look at that comment in the movie as Donnie just not being able to come to terms.
I never knew so many people didn’t like this movie and I have absolutely no idea how you do not LOVE it.
As an adult, I'd love to see that script! But back then, I would've been on the fence, due to the reality being ....never touched the comics!
Im not sure how I stumbled across this channel, but I'm so glad I did! Super cool concept. Happy new subber!! Turtle Power!
Look up the term DEEP UNDERGROUND MILITARY BASES. It will help you understand some of the subjects in TMNT a bit deeper.
I definitely recommend checking out the original comic for those interested.
maybe that's why there is a Triceriton on the cover of tmnt 3 the manhatten project even thought there are none in the actual game
Okay am I the only one who really likes “out of the shadows”? Been waiting YEARS for bebop and rocksteady and krang and the technodrome
Man, i just wanna say you put the best Hip hop beats in the background of your videos. Like the one that starts around the 5:00 mark. I saw some good ones on your other videos too. Idk if you make them but i love it
Professor Perry is played by David Warner. David Warner voiced Ras Al Ghul in BTAS. Batman Vs TMNt movie confirmed! Lol
i have always had this feeling that right after the scene where shredder returns and says there is only one thing left, revenge. the scene after, the tone of the movie shifts to a even more lighter form.
Thank you Mr. Laird. Rocksteady and Bebop, were lame characters.
My most fav TMNT movie in the world.
THIS IS TONY “RAPH” MORENO SENDING GREETINGS AND C O W A B U N G A ‼️‼️
Yeah, a little too Ralph!
AGREE 🤟🤩‼️
When the poster first came out I remember seeing big shadows behind the turtles,I remember my brother telling me that's beebop and rocksteady,I thought to my self it has to be them, was so disappointed when I found out it wasn't them, that movie would have been insane if we got to see a live action awesome costume version of them
They should of kept it closer to the comics, like the first film
They should have skipped making the 3rd movie as we know it and picked up where the professor stole away with the Ooze.
The ooze that that turns the turtles into the ninja turtles. Is in fact the same ooze that turns matt murdock...into daredevil.
Well, you've got this covered hand and foot...
I Remember Donatello
The Smart Ninja Turtle In Purple Was Wanting More Answers To, What Professor Perry Said On, The Mutangen
Was Accidental
Splinter Told Don Not To, Worry On, His Origin

It would have been cool to see the Utroms in the movies. Grew up on the original cartoons and got into the old Mirage comics in my teens. Came to prefer the weird and darker stories in the comics. To be honest I don't think I've ever seen the third movie in the original "trilogy" it just seemed so far removed from the first two that I never bothered with it.
The secret was that it mutates living things.
The movie literally starts with the corporation trying to cover it up.
I remember reading somewhere that Perry was going to be revealed as an Utrom as a stinger, but the studio decided to cancel it because most of the audience would assume he was actually Krang.
Also heard that Bebop and Rocksteady could not appear due to a rights issue.
