  • In this POV format video, I talk about the most practical reason to buy a Subaru WRX. Easy answer, because of snow... Snow and WRX are two words that naturally just go together. With the right set up, you can do anything in the snow.

    Is everyone's video quality stuck at 360p?! Let me know! I have no idea why TH-cam is limiting it, I filmed in 4k...

    • @LousWRX

      You have to wait for it finish processing. On 4K videos it can take up to 35 minutes. All my videos are also in 4K, and my trick is to wait about 30 minutes before actually publishing the video (on the upload page, choose "private on drop down menu", than as soon as it available it be seen in in full 4K 2160p quality. Hope that helps for next time.

    Just got a 2020 wrx 6mt brand new on the 9th and the past few days I’ve been sick and can’t drive. Made my dad take the car out to the dispensary today since she’s been sitting for a few days :( can’t wait for winter, my 2018 Impreza hatch 5mt was super fun when it snowed. Even in second gear with only 145tq that Impreza would spin all 4 all through second gear from a little rev and release of the clutch. She went into the subie crawl and I had way to much fun with her. Can’t wait to have more fun this winter. Can’t wait to feel good enough to drive again. Hopefully tomorrow I’ll be feeling much better. Yesterday I was a disaster. Could be from withdrawals of nicotine. Haven’t smoked since the 8th.

    I got my 2019 wrx in August last year. For the first time ever I was so looking forward to this winter!! Unfortunately we’ve had the least amount of snow ever this winter. I guess me and my wrx (and its ws-90s) will have to wait until next winter. 😭

      Auto Enthusiast Same!!! This is the first year I’m saying that. I had my mustang the last three years and I would’ve been excited to see no snow. It did good in snow with the tires I had, but I was pumped to finally have a snow bunny of a car to be completely not worried. We’re supposed to get a little snow tomorrow, but it’s been so warm I doubt any of it will stick.

    It's crazy how relatable this video is. I own an 18 tuned WRX and Portland just had one of its craziest winter days. My buddy owns a Genesis Coupe 2.0T and literally could not back out of his driveway - he was forced to park in a handicap spot for the time being. Meanwhile, I was passing pretty much everyone on my 30 minute drive back home. Never had so much confidence behind the wheel as in a WRX.

    The WRX looks like kinda overkill for that amount of snow (I mean compared to FWD... different story with RWD), but yeah it makes a world of difference when it piles up a bit higher and you get deep heavy/slushy snow.

      Drivetrain doesn’t matter in the snow as much as you think. It’s mostly the tire you’re running. RWD with snow tires will win over FWD with all seasons any day of the week

    • @emissarygw2264
      @emissarygw2264 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@vladprakapchuk9991 I was curious about this so I searched for a video. Seems like all season 4wd significantly outperforms rwd winter tires in at least the test they did in the video (though I imagine it depends on weight distribution - likely in a rear/mid engine the gap closes a lot)

  • @theguy1224
    @theguy1224 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    There's lots of cars with all wheel drive man lol. You don't HAVE TO get a subaru if you live where it snows. My '18 wrx is the 2nd all wheel drive car i've owned. My first one was a 2006 wrx. I didn't have snow tires on the 06, i had them on my 18. Both cars work just fine with all seasons or winters. I am rocking all seasons on my 18 now, because it's the last winter with the car before i give it back (lease) next summer.
    I've had more RWD cars than any other drive type. RWD cars with snow tires work just as good as all wheel drive cars with all seasons. To be fully unstoppable persay is an all wheel drive car with snow tires. But you can manage very well with RWD + snow tires. I did it for countless winters over the last 2 decades. No problem at all. Like never.
    That said i love the wrx and i'll enjoy your videos for the remainder of my wrx ownership. But next summer it's back to RWD.
    Keep up the good work!

    • @AutoEnthusiast
      @AutoEnthusiast  5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Barely let it warm up to be honest, maybe like 30-60 seconds if it is cold. I typically will let the rev's fall. I am more careful about how i drive it until the engine is warm. No high revs, low boost, etc.

      Definitely NOT stock Dunlop tires. Those stock ones are summer performance tires which are terrible in snow. Summer performance tires are worst than all-season tires. He must be using decent set of winter/snow tires.
