The dude might be actually saying something, but you can't call this a band, a dickhead with a laptop with some shitty DJ software is not a band, the vocalist (coz he's not a singer, that's not a bad thing) is a very poor man's Jonny Rotten without the style. Fair play to them for having a go,we need more to try,to speak from this perspective, give the people a break from the polished pop shit the kids are forcefed these days,a bit like the Pistols, Oasis etc,but these are NOT a band in any way shape or form.
I have heard a lot of music in my 65 years here. These are up there with Hendrix, Marley, Pistols and Husker Du. Got me interested again. The people who don't get this are probably very boring. zzzzzzzz
billingtonbobbington Up there with Hendrix? I see those 65 years here have clearly taken their toll on your brain. I'll correct you old fella... The people who ''don't get this'' actually just prefer to listen to MUSIC... Every pub in the entire country has a bloke like this in it, that loves the sound of his own voice... At 65 years old, you've probably paid you dues, and knew what was decent once... But you're judgement I'm afraid, is showing horrifying signs of wear. I'd suggest that your skills as a connoisseur, would be far more suited to giving Werther's Originals and mugs of hot tea a score out of 10
craig wells Eh up Craig. Hope you're enjoying perusing your stamp collection this morning. Bit nippy out ,yeah? Can you, as the cultural expert, kindly share your Music recommendations . Mumfords, Coldplay, U2, Floyd etc....
billingtonbobbington Errrm, there's not really a lot I can say to you, I mean to even put them in the same sentence as Hendrix is so catastrophically ridiculous, that if you actually BELIEVE that, then your concept of understanding what talent is, is so malfunctioned that I may as well speak to a wall... Your inability to recognise that this is nothing but a monotone recitement of words, that ANYBODY is capable of because its void of ANY tune, and often lacks even the basics of song writing skills... says it all. My music recommendation? Well, anyone with a scrap of talent would be a worthwhile starting point... Anyone who can create something that YOU can't! I liken it to this: If someone offered you a scribble on a piece of paper for sale, would you buy it for the wall of your front room? Of course you wouldn't! Its messy, its meaningless, and above all, you could do it yourself with total ease. Not because you're talented, but because its just a scribble... no artistic talent required... That's the analogy I'm going to give you for comparison. And to allow you to understand clearer, we'll say Hendrix was Da Vinci yeah? Oh yeah... Current musicians I think are good you asked for? Jake Bugg's a good little lad I suppose...
hexonatapeloop What would give you that idea? I LOVE The Fall, I think they're one of the all time greats! Haha, I'm joking of course! Nahh, I can't say that I like them to be honest... You're not going to try and tell me that THEY'RE anything close to Hendrix too are you? Lets be honest... Mark E Smith isn't exactly a barrel of laughs, as a bloke it he? Certainly not a person I'd enjoy the company of, what with him always coming across as being such a misery arse. So if we take those bleak, pessimistic, cynical characteristics into account, then obviously those are the materials he's going to use, when creating a piece of work, and I'm afraid my alliance rests firmly on the side of optimism... Not saying YOU shouldn't listen to them, just saying that they fall (haha, Fall? see what I did there!)... Yeah, they fall miles short of the mark, compared to the standards of the music that I prefer
I don't have a punk background, and I think they're dope. Then again I did have a lot of punk friends growing up, so I was never really opposed to it, but yeah I know fuck all about punk and I love these guys.
Saw these Thursday night as a support to the specials .the room went totally quiet, jaws were open after the first track there was a murmur of WTF,by the end of the second there was applause ,got home with a baseline in my head looked them up and listened for a few hours straight and am hooked. People have criticized because of the rants are from a 43 year old ,but I'd say most middle aged men have more to rant about than a prime of life 18 year old . Class, better live than recorded ,and WILL see them again, just try not to over analyze,if you don't like don't listen
booldawg Pretty much everything is wasted on teenagers. Especially angst. You have to wait until life gives you a few proper sucker-punches in the face before you're allowed to moan. I'm nearly 42 and I'll moan all day long if I want to, though admittedly not as eloquently as this guy. ;)
+booldawg For me personally it's the first band that speaks to me about the problems we all deal with and see on an every day basis. Everyone is going through the shit no matter what age. All of us that love Sleaford Mods, that can relate to the music, fits the demographic.
For those people commenting on ranted lyrics with regard to the salesforce mods, wind your neck in because you are either not listening or don't actually understand the lyrics. Mr Williamson is actually lyrically spot on, don't listen to the delivery if it does doesn't suit you but at least listen to the substance. The vast majority of people will understand EXACTLY what he is saying. And it is punctuated with the drum and bass.
im not usually into bands like this but this tune is phenomenal i love it!!!! Great live performance, i used to love indie back in my younger days and Art Brut were great live, these guys are the harder version of them!
Sleaford mods simple music but so powerful like the fall keep it simple but raw, no fucking long guitar leads or singers showing off there voice just pure feel good music. Vocals are great music fucking great to
This is really good. Laid-back, syncopated flow over a grinding techno beat. He's a cross between Mark E. Smith, John Cooper Clark and classic era Snoop Dog. Gotta love the midlife angst, too.
Went to see these guys in Stoke last week, ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT, when I spoke to Jay after the gig I wish I had asked him what the numbers at the start of Jobseeker meant!
the numbers he is referring too are the scores people get when they do a questionnaire when they first sign onto jobseekers as they give you a basic English/math test basically its a illiteracy test.hope that answers your query sarah doyle :)
skinny boy Nah its not. He said its a reference to when he used to work in a place testing the temperature of meat. You had to stick a thermometer in it and if it was below a certain heat then it was good to go.
This reminds me of the time Watty, of The Exploited went to sign on, a few days after they were on Top of The Pops... The full Yellow Mohican probably didn't help.
Where have I been to miss Sleaford Mods as I fucking love them. Tuned in to Jools Holland and thought to myself hey up who are these two lads who look like they've just come out the pub,and since then I can't stop playing there stuff. Punk poetry set to a nice beat is what my mate calls it,but whatever it is who gives a toss as it's awesome !When are they coming to Coventry ?
These guys need to put together a band for live performances. Fair enough they created the music. As an attending member of the fucking crowd I preferre to see a band. Yeah I know you are the ones who created the music but I still want to see musicians playing the music.
What a fucking amazing act. I just heard these guys on a Toronto talk radio show. Alan Cross, look him up. Had I not listened to the show I never would have been blessed with such great tunes....Makes me want to punch my boss in the face with a can of strong bow.
I might not put them in the same league as Hendrix. The fella basically created modern rock n roll. If it weren't for him it'd pretty much be all still sound like Bill Haley or Elvis etc. I like everything from Hendrix to Oi, to some new wave , cold wave, synth punk and a bunch in between. What I will say is these guys musically are breaking musical boundaries, meshing rap, electronica and street punk etc, so well to the point you literally can't pin them down to any genre. Then that is a solid good feat in itself. Musically I reckon they are pretty sound, and I like the way they keep it very down to earth. If you don't share their views - politics. Then that's another thing altogether separate from their musical ability I reckon
First impression on Sleaford Mods after watching a track with The Prodigy let's listen to them on there own, original, lyrics from a bad place but rose above it to give a sharp picture of today. Lots of hate little love special lyrics and a beer drinking sound man who I love to bits, can I join as Sleaford no 3 will dance for money if required.
Remember the days when all those people that claimed to be punk and alternative actually had attitude and weren't scared little introverts, them days are coming back :)
7 years on and it's still fucking Awesome
it's still awesome now
This is my favourite version of Jobseeker.
same! this is so gnarly and rad
Martin Rait later with Jools Holland has the best sound. He really went for it.
4 years ago still not wrong
Mine too!
Jools Holland mate !
soo fuckin rad, its like they were in the pub one day and were like "lets give this music thing a poke"
Pretty sure these guys have been in various bands over the years.
A bit more to them than that.
This encapsulates everything in my life from 2006 to 2016 especially as I lived in the midlands for that period
best band in the UK for the last 10 years at least
The dude might be actually saying something, but you can't call this a band, a dickhead with a laptop with some shitty DJ software is not a band, the vocalist (coz he's not a singer, that's not a bad thing) is a very poor man's Jonny Rotten without the style.

whatever..
Exactly how I felt about this 'band'
wonderful..thank you for telling me that..like I give a fuck
No problem mate, anytime, when you find a fuck to give, please let me know, it probably doesn't happen often, must be a monumental event.
Best band i've heard for a while, good stuff boys, keep it up!
I have heard a lot of music in my 65 years here.
These are up there with Hendrix, Marley, Pistols and Husker Du.
Got me interested again.

Yes - this is what we want and need now - should played in every signing on office. These 2 are are bang on brilliant.
get a job
no of course i don't. i was being flippant.
hotelmario510 It is easy to get a job. It's not easy to get a job you want though.
ppl who hate them don't have a punk background, that's all i can say...this stuff is great.
I don't have a punk background, and I think they're dope. Then again I did have a lot of punk friends growing up, so I was never really opposed to it, but yeah I know fuck all about punk and I love these guys.
People who hate them just don’t get it
I don't have a punk background and SM are my favourite band
Crass comes to mind...
I like them because I've had to put up with workplace cretins for 30 years.
Saw these Thursday night as a support to the specials .the room went totally quiet, jaws were open after the first track there was a murmur of WTF,by the end of the second there was applause ,got home with a baseline in my head looked them up and listened for a few hours straight and am hooked.

I was there! I'm 21 and loved the whole night and these guys were class!
Good stuff Ross great night indewd
Well put-all the over analyzing is a fuckin pain. This is some great stuff.
seen them in wolverhampton supporting the specials.thought these guys are mad but im hooked
That's where I saw them ,and agree mad as ....lol
Thank God there is some music coming from the UK that captures the spirit of punk.
Teenage angst is wasted on teenagers. I white, mid forties and on shit pay. I fit the demographic.
booldawg Pretty much everything is wasted on teenagers. Especially angst. You have to wait until life gives you a few proper sucker-punches in the face before you're allowed to moan. I'm nearly 42 and I'll moan all day long if I want to, though admittedly not as eloquently as this guy. ;)
Aleks Persson I moan like fuck.
+booldawg For me personally it's the first band that speaks to me about the problems we all deal with and see on an every day basis. Everyone is going through the shit no matter what age. All of us that love Sleaford Mods, that can relate to the music, fits the demographic.
angst is for us 'auld fuckers.'
+booldawg Yep , same as you, early 40's, wank pay, white, working class, no surprises or treats
I'm from sleaford and these guys pretty much sum the area up, but I love the area for producing people like this. quality.
Pure art,
And my god was it needed in these shitty times of sheep and corporate music
'pure art' tout à fait d'accord !!!!!
I'm 63 and love 'em!
I can't stop playing this, I only found out about the Sleaford Mods recently. I'm glad that I did! JOBSEEKAAAAAAHH!!!
This is poetry of our times no matter what any snotty smart arse says, quality!
"Pull your jeans up, fuck off... "
As a 40 year old, UK born, white male; this lyric says it all for me.
This is awesome. Finally a voice for the working class. Big up lads.
best music in decades......
For those people commenting on ranted lyrics with regard to the salesforce mods, wind your neck in because you are either not listening or don't actually understand the lyrics. Performance art at its finest.

The choreography blows my mind
'Plug it in, pre-mixed' - Ibiza; The Prodigy featuring the Sleaford Mods.

A new joy division at last, otherwise known as real music.

HE USED TO WORK IN A JOB CENTRE : THENHE REBELLED !!! I KNOW THIS FOR SURE : MET HIM AT A GIG IN CARDIFF AND HAD A HALF HOUR CHAT WITH HIM !
man this is awesome
Simply describing what everyone's trying to get away from. Mark E Smith must be pissing himself with laughter.
this is the only song i know that sounds better live than in a studio
Am I the only one who noticed his grinder in his pocket? Haha
He's just happy to see you
I hella fucking love this shit!!!
Sick
I like his floppy little bow at the end
This is really good. Laid-back, syncopated flow over a grinding techno beat. He's a cross between Mark E. Smith, John Cooper Clark and classic era Snoop Dog. Gotta love the midlife angst, too.
They look like they stopped giving a heck in 1982.
Went to see these guys in Stoke last week, ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT, when I spoke to Jay after the gig I wish I had asked him what the numbers at the start of Jobseeker meant!

Britain's only relevant band

This reminds me of the time Watty, of The Exploited went to sign on, a few days after they were on Top of The Pops... The full Yellow Mohican probably didn't help.
It's strange no-one's drawn a connection between this and the Fall yet.. I guess MES is still alive

these guys rock. USa rockist.
These guys need to put together a band for live performances.
Fair enough they created the music.
As an attending member of the fucking crowd I preferre to see a band. Yeah I know you are the ones who created the music but I still want to see musicians playing the music.
