This is the year I marched Southerners. One of the best years of my life. Thank you to Mr. Bodiford. Also to Casey and Ryan.. 2 very good section leaders. It will be a year I will never forget. Hope I get to see you guys perform this year. Have a great year and BLOW SOUTHERNERS!
Brings back some memories that's for sure. This was the second show I'd ever seen JSU perform; the first being the 98 firebird show. That show and the year I marched (2001) stand out as all out faves of mine.
Wow.... I had no idea this was online. Thank you Mr. Brake for uploading this. I also had no idea I got so much camera time haha. I was much skinner and less hairy then. STL4LIFE & BLOW SOUTHERNERS!!!
This video is about the best one from a filming standpoint. Lots of good close ups and distance shots. Most of 'em are shot from the press box and you can't get any idea what individuals and small groups are doing which contribute to the show's artistry.

that 36" bass drum makes a huge difference in impacts
My son and daughter-in-law were both on that field!
The Southerners still have full flute and clarinet sections.
one good piccolo player can cover up several really good trumpet players, but one good marching french horn can cover up 10 good trumpets.
Planet bass!!

Chills!!!!
5:15 ? What's the song?
The brass-line this year was just ridiculous.
It looks like you are out of luck if you play a clarinet or flute. I think I have seen a sax or two. I remember when JSU had all instruments.
There were both for sure.
Now JSU is more like a BOA band than The Marching Southerners.
