I'm back from Twitchcon and I'll be streaming again starting tomorrow at 7pm BST! Hope everyone enjoys PokeRogue www.twitch.tv/rtgame
Do you have any plans to finish this run?
Will you play more Pokémon fangames?
Don't tell me you're ending this before the actual ending man :( you were close too!
Me be me: noooooo I want moreeeee
MOAR pokerogue!
For additional context, the evil teams were added the same day RT was streaming. It surprised a lot of players, both new and long time in the chat.
Omg that makes so much sense, it made the game so much harder completely randomly and I just thought I was bad haha.
And then the video launched the same day as emerald rogue 2.0
I was curious why I was suddenly fighting Plasma Grunts. I just though I had bad luck in never finding them.
I lost a really good run because team plasma rocked my shit
@@sparkz3432 I do actually like the evil teams, they make EXP management a lot less rough on runs where you can’t find EXP shares, and add some much needed spice to the midgame, which was easily the least interesting part of the run before.
RT choosing the Legends Arceus starters by CHOICE when he used to hate Oshawott is a good character arc
In his gen 5 nuzlockes he grew to like oshawott
The BW(2) nuzlockes really changed him for the better. He is now part of the Oshawott gang
Makes sense. Those are the three he's done major Pokemon playthroughs with
@@lilyblossom9438 exactly! Cyndaquil was Arson in his HGSS Nuzlocke, Oshawott was Failure(?) in B2W2, and Rowlet was Dr. Hoo in Leggy Acres
As he should, Oshawott is terrible. And you can call this bait if you want, I suffered through my brother's Black 2 game (having never played Black/White) just so we could get Move Tutors availability in X/Y... and he chose that wretched otter. I genuinely had to box that thing for a better water type because it couldn't perform a single good move. Thing was awful. I probably would have taken EITHER of the other two over it.
And karma bit me in the ass and announced ORAS like.... a week or two after I finally completed the game - whining about how I wasn't having fun the whole time. (I've never cared for pokemon plots, and I didn't know what was going on, compounded on Black 2 being a genuine sequel, so people talked about things with a familiarity that I didn't have.) My tone might change now about the games (having seen RT's playthroughs) and being older than I was then, but I don't think I will about the Oshawott line.
I did not expect the subplot of the rival relationship tragically falling apart
Yeah I kinda wish you could throw in like a narrative sense, like she probably wins stupid amount but that just starts the run over right? Either you win and she spirals or she wins and reality restarts.... does the plot lighten up ever? This video is my only experience of the game
@@jameshenderson4094 it does get better!
Spoilers: after the wave 145 battle where the rival doesn't say anything there's one more rival fight close to the end, and there the rival is more talkative again lol. And if you beat the game you get a happy pic with them
I always assumed she was just going insane from the failing reality forcing her to constantly train to act as a challenge to you, as well as you suddenly becoming a travelling machine who rivals gods, not bothering to care about anything else.
She pulls out a fricking legendary like omg
I mean, If I somehow catch a boss Rayquaza and still somehow get beat by my rival, I'd probably mald too tbh
You know PokeRogue is going to be such an addicting game that even RT, the Gambling Man himself had to force himself to stop so he doesn’t get glued to his seat playing this game and miss his flight to Twitchcon
And if GameFreak ever does make an official Pokemon Roguelike, it’ll be all over for RT
They did make an official Pokemon roguelike it's called mystery dungeon 😂
HELL naw. GameFreak makes a version, they're gonna screw up something fundamental, then make excuses for why and blame the fans.
I trust them so little at this point, I'd rather they just subcontract their IP out to someone else that gives a shit about making fun games.
My sleep schedule and body clock is fcked thanks to this game
@@dsalucasthat game was ass
Depends, explorers of sky was amazing
Ivy becoming more and more obsessed and unhinged as you both grow in power isn't something I expected from a Pokemon game, but I'm absolutely not complaining
A better rival story than anything Gamefreak has made in 10 years
I felt like it was less obesssion, and her desperately trying to stop RT from causing a mass poke-stinction
@@dekkonotCalem/Serena went through a similar arc. When you fight them outside the Pokemon League they’re considering giving up on their dream of becoming Champion.
@@dekkonot the closest they got to that is N and Kieran which is why they're my favorite rivals lmao
Let’s go gambling!
>Potion
Aw dang it.
>Pokeball
Aw dang it.
>Oran Berry
Aw dang it.
raxdflipnote reference!?!!?!
An Oran Berry is actually a very rare find, considering it’s not in Pokérogue
I really hope he plays more of this game an stream. My favorite part of RTs nuzlocks was always the actual battles and him using his competitive Pokémon knowledge to get through them; and this game is basically exactly that.
Oh, is that why I suck at this game? I don't know a thing about competitive
@@kutsen39Having knowledge of competitive is helpful. But honestly, as someone who is only very vaguely aware of the competitive scene, the best help I've had is just having a type chart and bulbapedia open to search what certain moves and Pokemon can do.
There's actually a ROM hack of Emerald that's just this but more based into the Pokémon Gameplay. I.E, going down random routes, catching Pokémon, doing gyms, and such.
I love that RT always has the Dark Souls music on hand at the ready.
I'm pretty sure he mentioned in a recent video he literally has it on hotkey now
@@touchdom He did
You guys don't understand how funny the breloom arc was. It was so many breloom's and when RT thought about catching one he couldn't because he was too strong.
RT getting mega ring on *floor 2* in that first run was crazy, shame he never got to see how megas actually work in this game, making them a permanent toggleable evolution was a cool touch
by the way, RT, there are only 200 floors in classic mode, you're almost 3/4 there and the finale is pretty cool, definitely finish the run if possible (and only if you want to)
also we love (hate) to see Ivy spiraling into insanity just trying to get her best friend back, slowly becoming the same victory-obsessed trainer she tried to stop us from being :(
Yeah the rival storyline hits you hard. The CIA should take Psyop lessons from the devs
look at how far the guy who died in the first gym has come. so proud of him
I watched RTGame play this on stream about a week ago. I enjoyed it so much that I got addicted to it and spent most of my time since then playing this game. I just beat Classic Mode for the first time last night, and the relief I felt was immense. In the words of Rival Ivy: "I'm not sure whether to thank or hate you" for this beautiful pain you've caused me, RT.
any tips on beating it? i got as high as 195 haha. i get attached to pokémon and keep them on my team even when they’re weaker which probably hurts me in the long run
@@no-qz4ibeasiest way is to build around rayquaza and last boss weakness, mainly fairy type or a dragon sweeper. Starting with a Pokémon with no evolution is actually quiet good because you can steamroll early game. And get good luck of course
@@opatzo9165 thanks! i was going in blind so the rayquaza really caught me off guard 😭😭 i tried to be a little silly and destiny bond it, but obviously the devs thought of that and it didn’t work lol. do you get rid of that no-evolution mon eventually?
@@no-qz4ib depends. Best option for non evolution Mon is obviously legendaries as you can easy bring them to endgame. As for others it’s really just a matter of situation. Are you lacking certain type, is the mon not being used, is there better option available and things like that. Usually a good cue to change mon for me is when it’s not used for more than 10 rounds and there’s a mon with same type in team
I get really attached to my teams too, lol. Admittedly I don’t think I’m the best person to ask advice from since I ended up using save-scumming in order to beat the game, but I utilized lots of annoying tactics like Serperior Leech seed and Umbreon toxic/moonlight in order to win most of the bigger battles.
I'm very glad RT played this, particularly because of his absolutely polarizing luck in video games.
"Pokemon are made to be used" this is going to be a very interesting video huh
I was so surprised he managed to beat lvl 145 Ivy on his first try
AND IT WAS ONLY HIS SECOND RUN EVER
I forget how good he is at pokemon pmao
and gambling
Sometimes you get good runs, sometimes you don't. My first run made it to 180ish I think, and a LOT of others since did not.
I straight up beat classic mode for the first time on my second run, funnily enough.
Skeledirge carries. You can easily get a win on your first run with Skeledirge+Meowscarada+any good water (I usually use Mudkip for coverage and mega potential). Then, pray for a map and then route to anywhere Nacli is before 145, because Garganacl is broken.
If you want to make the final boss a joke, find something that can learn Soak, bring it in on the recharge turn to make the final boss Water, and Salt Cure will kill him in 5 turns
5:29 wait a second thats a male bidoof but it has 3 tufts, its usually female bidoofs that have 3 tufts, trans king.
Don't assume a Doof's gender identity, it can and will be what it wants
I have basically no knowledge of Pokémon, but there’s something very satisfying about watching RT flex his Pokémon skills
Turn the left Pokemon... into the right Pokemon
They used to call him “The Rogue King” back in college
Ivy kinda scares me compared to Finn, their choice of obsessive rival writing is pretty neat, reminds me of an alternate take to Kieran.
Started playing this game after watching Dan. Hope the devs enjoy building on this cool fan game.
I can’t help but feel bad for her, she strikes me as someone that just wanted their friend/crush o come home after a brief pokemon adventure only for them to end up being way more talented than she expected so she has to keep pushing herself and her pokemon to the edge to catch up with them and hopefully one day get them to come home.
She's also one hell of a trainer lmao
I can't remember a previous rival who's managed to catch fucking Rayquaza for one
Her team is actually well put together as well.
15:57 the total confidence immiediatly going to total terror is amazing
tried this for the first time ever two days ago because of RTs stream. got to my highest round last night (195) and instantly realized that dan is right, this game is stupidly addictive.
big shoutout to my primarina, rillaboom, boltund, mightyena, staraptor, and the unexpected MVP bug/steel wormadam for getting me that far because i am definitely not a good pokemon player
Mine was 155 with a lot of my favorites: Excadrill absolute MVP and swept so many bosses (Swords Dance, Rock Slide, Earthquake, and Drill Run), Torterra (Curse, Trailblaze, synthesis, Headlong Rush), Conkelldur (Bulk up, Hammer Arm, Stone Edge, Drain Punch), Infernape surprisingly one of my weaker members (Acrobatics, Raging Fury, Close Combat, Calm Mind), and Registeel (Iron Defense, Zap Cannon, Heavy Slam, and Superpower). I was not ready for how unhinged the rival would get after each fight.
@@ltntwafflz9043 excadrill is an absolute beasttttt of a pokémon. used one in a run yesterday (i never use excadrill despite knowing how powerful it is, idk why lol) and i was amazed at how easily it took things down. got really unlucky with matchups though and lost in the 115 team boss fight (ghetsis)
I'm glad you had a good run! It's so nice when someone recognizes Primarina's tanky stats. They're one of my favorite pokemon, but all anyone ever talks about is their first evolution
@@Roserae16 i must be out of the loop. do people not like brionne?
Bro is Ivy okay, girl is saying how she wants you to come home, then thinks she hates the main character and then on that last fight she doesn’t even say anything and just throws hands
Ivy is definitely not ok, she’s going through some stuff
Oh, just wait till the last Ivy fight - girl goes crazy
She's so creepily desperate and clingy when I'm like "I've no idea who you even are get away from me". Wouldn't be surprised if the player character left for their pokemon journey just so she'd have to leave them alone, only for her to keep stalking and following them
To be honest, the main menu music being PMD:E music was all I needed out of this game.
Drinking game: Take a shot whenever RT calls anything significant
The amount of alcohol you'll consume will be significant
My liver will be significantly impaired
I’m addicted to this game lol, glad to see RT joining the club!
unrelated but holy carp wet mouse spotted!!
@@moonlit_ruffles wawa :P
I hope Dan can encounter his favorite Gym Leader/Elite Four member: Larry.
Yes, this game will take years of your life.
There is also a fanmade APP for desktop and android, especially the android one is great because it uses less data and is more efficient with the battery life.
Anyone else notice his extreme luck? It made the whole thing more exciting. Please feel free to give us more of this!
at least once more RT! we need to know what was in the legendary egg
Its like a 50% chance its Miraidon
It’s really significant that RT is playing this game.
I just noticed, halfway through, her name switches from "rival ivy" to "ivy."
Pretty good detail lmao
At first she wants to be your rival to get you home, but now she doesn't even want to play the part of it. She just wants you to go back home with her.
Pokerogue is so amazing, it's honestly the perfect pokemon battler and i hope RT also loves it
the binding of my eye sacs
word(s) of the day: Quite significant.
You’re almost at the end! Don’t give up now!
"We have to lose sometime"
Shanks you in the kidneys for losing.
i played the same day evil teams were added. i saw team plasma grunts and figured "oh neat trainers i havent seen before". then i fought ghetsis and simply perished
I've always loved Rougelike games, so this is one of the most surprising things I've ever seen.
It's just the certain aspect of them that the feeling of what kinds of things and the deck-building aspects that have always been such much fun. Kind of like your Slay the Spire video/stream, it's always fun to see what kinds of things you come up with in order to make the best team.
ALSO POKEMON LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOO
What's a redlike?
game is fricken amazing... im just waiting for the sad day Nintendo takes it down, idk why they haven't already...
@@waron4fun597they dont care unless the devs ask for money in anyway. This isnt going anywhere
Got a shiny Tapu Fini with Earth Power a while ago, absolutely addicted to this game. Not surprised RT found it!
Considering how much i love your pokemon battle analysis in general, I'd LOOOOOVE to see you play more of this!
I would watch more of this addiction, personally. I'm invested in seeing if he gets that Miraidon too!
We absolutely need more of this game, RT absolutely loves games he can break and this is definitely one
As much as I would love Dan to continue playing this game I’d fear for his health and sanity in getting sucked into the game
this was the first stream i watches live. loved it
A zigzagoon with pickup was the last mon in a run once and I’d given up rejigging items so when I pulled him out he had 2 rows of items. It was really satisfying when a bunch of berries got triggered at once and the item list would half itself.
I am expecting absolute chaos, considering I’m not the kind of person to play a rogue-like.
I’d love to see you play this again, RT. Always fun to see someone apply their knowledge of a game and do so well at it!
This was so much fun to watch. I hope Dan does more weird pokemon games like this and games like this!
RT using his comp knowledge to beat pokemon battles will always be like crack
Discovering this game through Point Crow and now seeing RT play it fills me with so much joy. I’ve become heavily addicted to the game and I’m glad it’s getting more attention. It’s a wonderful game and the ppl who work on it are amazing
Can’t wait to see more Dan… Ivy will have her revenge
New Drinking Game: Take a shot each time RT says "that's really significant"
this is actually quite significant
I need to play this, also hell yeah more RT Pokémon content
god I want to watch more of this. I want this man fighting the final boss and either losing his sanity, or curbstomping it
Enjoyed watching you play this, and while I hope to see you do so again. I absolutely get why you would decide to do one and done for this with how addicting it is
this was a really significant video
I was here for a bit of the stream, great show!
So glad RT finally played this game! I know it’s unlikely because there’s a video already made, but I hope there’s more!
Best series on this channel since april. Please continue with moderation
Very excited too see more of this if we get more i'll be grateful
I would love to see more -- at least until your first win!
Hell yes, loved the stream of this one
I love this game, some fun challenge I like to do is trying to beat this game with one pokemon type or nuzlocking it. The nuzlock rule is basically if they die they die, you mentally note the name of every pokemon you catch(you can't name them), and your encounter is the the pokemon on the first floor of every 10 floor (1, 11, ect). if you want to make it harder you can make it every boss pokemon is your encounter♪︎
Oh my God I was literally wondering if you were going to play this, I’m so happy lmao
Good ol daniel making back to back pokemon fights watchable for 40 min!
Congrats on trending RT!
Catching the zigzagoon to reclaim the grip claw was a heck of a play
Please finish the run Dan this video was such a fun watch
I’ve been waiting for this video for a long time
I love pokerogue and I love your content, so this is a real treat. Thank you for the content :D
This video was quite significant
RT being the best pokemon player yet again 🙏
woohoo! love this game and excited for you to play
3:01 the second he didn’t buy the potion I went ‘ivy is going to obliterate this man’
Huh she didn’t
So who’s going to tell him that this game has an actual final boss and an end?
A Pokemon Roguelike that combines competitive play, escalating difficulty, AND has gambling mechanics?! I'm pretty sure this is the gaming equivalent to crack for RT
"Also known as Matt Smith." Had me laughing.
Dan had to say "That's quite significant." About 100 times in this video
RT PLEASE PLAY MORE. DONT PEEL YOURSELF AWAY, IVE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU TO PLAY THIS, LET THE ADDICTION CONSUME YOU AS I HAVE AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
25:25 Just hovering over the "Close Tab button"
the internal screaming when you went "bulk is king", knowing how brutal pokerogue gets later on, no matter how bulky you are things are just so stupidly strong later on that if you're not 1 shotting you're getting 1 shot, and even study doesn't help because they get items that just make any attack hit multiple times, def/sdef do a lot LOT less than 1 atk/satk does, so atk/satk and speed are the only things that matter
There's so much you can do with Pokemon outside of the same game over and over. GameFreak should really take note from fan-projects like this and make something different.
Please play more of this it’s so cool
This video is definitely significant.
Ive given this game a try and it's very addicting. Thanks for the new way of procrastinating
YES IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS
I'm so happy to see the pokemon b/w style again!
"can Oshawott tank two hits...?"
"YES! if they're stupid!"
RT getting to Floor 145 in his second run and then beating his rival is genuinely impressive in my opinion, and I'm someone who's got 5 days in playtime, so while I'm not the most qualified to say that, I'm pretty sure most people would say it's impressive
I never played Pokerogue before watching Dan's stream and now I'm 1000% addicted to it on my second challenge run thanks dad
This stream was a perfect introduction to this game! If you like the video, I highly recommend you go and play this game!!! I started playing after seeing this stream, and even though roguelikes aren't usually in my wheelhouse, this is a blast! Thanks, Dan!!
RTgame: See's the most useful thing in pokerogue
Also RTgame: That's significant!
is this charecter growth rt saw a wooloo and didn't kill it
This gotta be a series fellows!
as a competitive player, seeing the Breloom gauntlet get destroyed was very therapeutic
This was a pretty good stream, I liked it
I played this game a few days ago and let me just say
My body clock and sleeping schedule has been destroyed
It so damn addictive and surpised there aren’t PSAs for it yet
