there's a quote thats like "if given the chance players will optimize the fun out of a game" but this is one of those times where its not just optimized but full decimation to where it becomes fun again but like in a morbid curiosity way
I genuinely believe that applies to things involving farming for games like MMOs, for games where the goal and the fun is to get as far into it as possible or in the case of speedrunning as quickly as possible optimization is a way to enhance the fun. Like a Rube Goldberg machine

I think most people don't appreciate just how absurdly many chips RT got in the end. Not only is 2.4e96 larger than the number of atoms in the observable universe, 2.4e96 is actually 24 000 000 000 000 000 times the number of atoms in the observable universe. Almost every single record-breaking hand he had is larger than all of the chips from previous hands combined then multiplied, several times over.
From another perspective, when solving equations, if I get such a number as the answer, I know my calculation definitely went wrong somewhere.

@@ultraheaven8968 I can't speak for the pure math world (I can barely speak for this example), but a physicist friend in college once calculated a correct answer of about 1.1e114. It was the number of possible thermal states of two lumps of a few hundred or thousand atoms equalizing in temperature.

Fun fact: The game ends at Ante 39. At that point, the score required to beat the next blind will reach infinity, and due to how the comparison between your score and the required score's interpreted, even if you also score infinity (possible through some really screwy abuse of iron cards and the Cryptid usable card, since it can break the hand size limit indefinitely), it'll think that your score is still lower and you will automatically lose once you run out of hands.
Now we wait for RT to achieve it.

This video is singlehandedly responsible for firmly drilling the text of the Death card into my muscle memory. I have never misplayed converting the left card into the right card since watching you win enough chips to hire a hitman qualified enough to find and kill God, and also clean up the crime scene
You know, when Balatro showed up on RT's channel, I thought this would just be like any other normal indie game skirmish that RT usually does. One or two episodes, perhaps three for good measure if there's ever a DLC. I never really expected Balatro to appear again afer the last one, but here we are; not only is this the third episode of a rougelike game, the content took so much disproportionate work that it is such a ridiculous yet valid contribution to the game's community that the video is likely going down somewhere in *Balatro history.* How did we get here? How did it escalate so much only THREE EPISODES IN???

The hard limit is ante 39, at that point the required score is "Not a Number", so no matter how high you score, you'll lose.
It is possible to get there with some Perkeo Shenanigans, but as far as we know, it is literally impossible to go any further, even if you were to have 100 negative bluepirnts
Has anyone managed to reach that ante "naturally" or was this discovered by data mining and save editing?

Can you hit NaN on your own score and win forever from that point forward?
@@ngwoo You can hit NaN, but that doesn't clear a NaN score, so you'll just lose.
In order for you to pass, the game needs to be able to calculate that your score is higher than the goal, which it can't do with numbers larger than floats, so there is literally no setup that could score enough.

Even if you yourself score "naneinf", it still counts it as a loss.
There are a lot of mods/it's easy to mod to remove this limit though.

i mean it does double the base blind (which does make early game wall/violet vessel real scary) but it's not an issue when you get sextillion times the needed chip count
plasma makes your chips and mult the same, so early game you run chips bc they're easy to get and later you run mult bc you've established a system by then

i love it when these kind of games have a Seed system. because you could play on random seeds to see how far you can get (the intended play), or you can use a seed to see how Outrageous you can push the limits with optimal rng. like a science experiment :D its creative play vs a game of chance

That said, I know it’s possible to go higher. There’s a special score that shows up when the number gets too high. That said, the only way to get it is with some crazy set-ups, usually involving Perkeo making a bunch of Negative Planet cards or a huge hand with a bunch of Red Seal Steel cards… or both!

Dan had enough funds to make new cards manually by buying deaths and standard cards from the shop, it's just a bit costlier and riskier, but getting rid of showman could have ended the run a lot sooner.

I usually chew through books. Dune is so incredibly alien and strange that I couldn't handle more than about 1 or 2 chapters a day. It's completely worth the time and effort it takes to read.
