I would have loved to get full models of all the villains as Emblems instead of just the ghostly hooded robe figures, but at least we got the recognition quotes from the heroic Emblems.

MAD props for the Ike crit killsteal on Ashera, best reference was the one we had to make ourselves.
Its funny how Pandreo/Micaiah I needed for any Nosferatu/Light Tome references so they stole a lot of kills, and yet on Micaiah’s final boss she gets to see how it feels
But yeah I was disappointed a bit with the Dark Emblems and wanted to at least see a version with the original music, which inspired this in the first place

@methodius--9405 the Ike kill reference is to Radiant Dawn. Ashera will not actually die unless you make the kill with Ike. Otherwise she just revives herself to full HP.
The one gripe I have with the final boss is that the villain emblems are just attached to random corrupted and do nothing. It would be so much cooler if all the bosses actually referenced their villain emblems, like Nergal being on a High Priest with some dark magic, Ashnard being on a wyvern knight… I imagine all the dragons would be wyrms, but even if they weren’t willing to do that they could have picked much more accurate classes for them, or at least had the emblems give them skills, not necessarily new ones but skills that are already in the game

Swordmaster on Eirika was because she can access myrm/sm only weapons in her world. Lyn having a Bow Knight option is referencing her Blade Lord class and her land's culture of horse archers. Byleth does get arts(brawling) and white magic in his unique upgraded class, hence the choices.

They probably didnt want to do this music thing because there was a chance you could be fighting two different corrupted in one turn and have the music constantly interrupt each other. The only way out would be to only play if you during the combat
...or the special music only triggered when. You fight against each corrupted using their respective emblem rings

Veld getting killed by Excalibur (as a Forseti stand-in) is fitting since sending in Ced to kill him is probably the easiest way to finish FE5.
I think it’s odd that the only final boss that gets referred to by name is Duma.
I wish they did more with them in general. Maybe some music remixes, portraits, voices, or even shady in game models. The only reason I can think is for people who don’t know who they are they don’t want to spoil something, but as you just said Duma gets name dropped anyway so…?
@@ElutPesto They kind of namedrop Nemesis and Grima, if only by title. Maybe because they are the more recent titles before Engage? There might still be hope for remakes/remasters of previous games so they don't want to spoil Aerith Dies.
As for Fates, they'd probably didn't want to name Anankos because they figured it'd be best if everyone forgot that ever happened (and they would be right).

It's thracia 776 final boss yes but in plot, he his less impactfull than Raydick. And in the game, he his one of the easier boss of the series. Hell, for that i can understand, Veld is weaker than Raydick in is first fight. (And just because it's a fe5 comment, no playable Reinhardt in a remake or it's bfg9000 + quad damage)

I actually killed sombron before the third set of dark emblems showed up, so this was neat to see the ones I completely missed out on

It's possible to beat him without even touching the dark emblems. Just Engage+ first, then stack as many Eff: Dragon users as humanly possible, and proceed to wail on him. I reckon with optimisation, he could be beaten on turn 1, but I beat him in 2.

No, Roy is confused because Idun is supposed to be healed and peaceful now. Sombron actually turned her back into the Dark Dragon.
Eirika's quote suggests that she MIGHT be from Ephraim's version of Sacred Stones... which is funny, because Ephraim's the main character of that one.
You know, this may sound weird, but I genuinely had no idea that it was Duma that was the dark emblem for Gaiden/Echoes until Celica said his name. The description made me think it was Rudolph and went, "Why is Rudolph the main bad guy Emblem, he's Alm's boss." Even after that though I feel like Jedah would've been a better fit for the dark emblem. I have also headcanon'd that the only reason Grima is called despair and not fell dragon for his ring(despite his whole title) is that Sombron trademarked the title of Fell Dragon so Grima couldn't use it. Also of this was truly as Kaga intended. He'd make you go out the way to summon the emblems as units and make them invulnerable to everything else with some ridiculous gauntlet or mini boss to go through first and on a time limit as well
Wasn't Grima also called the Wings of Despair in Awakening?
Grima's whole moniker was that they were "The Wings of Despair, The Breath of Ruin, The Fell Dragon, Grima" so while yes, you could call them the Wings of Despair, the title of Fell Dragon was theirs for quite some time until Sombron. But since this is Sombron's game, you couldn't upstage him by having two Fell Dragons.
I started FE with three houses, so it was fun trying to figure out who was whose nemesis based on the setting of their paralogue.

No exactly , Nemesis was always a bad guy, Rhea and Edelgard are more grey and villains only in you don't side with one of them. Rhea is only the villain in Crimson flower and Edelgard in Azure being a secondary villain in Verdant and Silver. And was Nemesis actions what caused everything in 3H, he killed Sothis (Rhea motivation) and is responsible of the crest system (Edelgard motive).
Imagine the shitstorm if this happened and Byleth had his mint hair as an emblem instead. Figured they went blue to avoid the inevitable carnage if they appeared to favor one over the other.
Nemesis is a bad dude in every route, you just don't fight him in everything else. Blue hair Byleth could imply that this is CF route. :)
Nemesis is Rhea and Edelgard's mutual enemy, he began the crest system and he murdered Sothis.

In this part of the game, each emblem have to fight the last boss of their own world. So yeah, Byleth have to fight Nemesis, so Golden Deer Route is canon

Imagine if the dlc emblems added more enemies. Chrom and Robin would probably get Walhardt, Camilla would get King Garon, Black Knight for Soren, Embla or Thrasir for Veronica, Garnef for Tiki, Zephiel for Hector, and Thales for the 3H lords

Honestly, the Corrupted that the Dark Emblems are attached to aren't all that random. They're meant to be countered by their corresponding emblem's engage weapons.
Marth's swords check the Berserker w/axes
Celica's magic checks the General w/low res
Sigurd's lances checks the Hero w/swords
Leif's melee weapons check the Bow Knight with only 2-range
Roy's swords check the other Berserker w/axes
Lyn's Bows and Mani Katti check the Griffon Knight w/axes
Eirika's Rapier and Ephraim's lance check the Paladin w/ swords
Ike's axes check the Halberdier w/lances
Micaiah's Thani checks the Paladin
Lucina's Parallel Falchion checks the Wyvern Knight w/axes
Byleth's arts (I mean, he's the only one to potentially give a fist weapon) beats the Sage
Corrin's is the only one that doesn't fit her engage weapon's triangle advantage or effectiveness, but perhaps the Mage Knight (and thus tomes) could harken back to Seadall's arts, as she was attached to him in his joining chapter

You can’t use Ephraim’s lance at all.
You get Siglinde, Wind Sword, and Rapier.
And Weapon Effectiveness doesn’t actually do anything here, since all of the attacks from units equipped with a specific emblem(the one that matches the respective final boss) deals effective damage regardless of weapon.
It’s a pretty loose theory all things considered but it’s not a terrible one.
Slight correction: Roy had a warrior, Micaiah has a great knight. Still fits though.

This could be comparable to the real organization 13 in KH3. Because of Roy's interaction with Indun. Its not just time and space to reach these familiar foes, its actually having the power to make them what they once was, just like a certain old man, minus the cloning part.
If they went the extra mile and gave the enemies their unique models and actual voice lines the final battle would've went from a 6-7 to 10 easily. Like it was a cool idea but they just didn't go all the way with it and that just left a sour taste in my mouth because the idea was great but felt lazily executed.
my guess is that introducing new models at this stage of the game would be a massive waste of resources, why bother making individual models if youre only using them once, and on a relatively unimportant unit at that?

Great video, my only real nitpick is that for reference purposes it would've been cool if you had a bow chain attack Nemesis before the Byleth kill (easiest with Lucina's Parthia, but Warriors work too), like the ending cutscene with Claude's arrow hitting right before Byleth got the kill
Shoutout to Nosferatu finishing Grima even though Thoron is supposed to be Robin's signature tome because of the spell being busted😂
God-Shattering Star being the final track just feels right.
I wished that during the big moment with Alear after the emblems do their thing i wished that sigurd took the most out of all the rings and it shaped it into a different one and that would become seliph but still have some of his skills but a bit improved (or not since it would mean missing some of siigurd’s skill’s).

Makes me wonder if the DLC Bracelets also have reactions. The 4 Winds react to themselves as the 4 Hounds, so it seems a waste to not do the same with bracelets

Honestly they could've done a better job if they actually showed the villains being the Dark emblems instead of by their title or as dark silhouettes. We already have the general art design for majority of them in Heroes with their VA. Would've been a nice send-off.

They probably wanted to avoid spoilers for anyone who played Engage first and then went back to the other games.

Personally, I don't mind that they didn't make unique models for them, but would've been cool if they did for the extra mile.
I kinda wished IS did do something like what you do, changing the music alone would've made it so much better when you paired up the respective protags against their bosses
The problem is that some of them are 10 times bigger that sombron itself, it would have been difficult to make accurate models for bosses like Fomortiis, Idunn and Grima

Well now we know, male Byleth is tied to the Deer route. Then again, since this game is very pro -green dragon and has Edelgard as a character, i guess Nemesis is the only boss who wouldnt be awkward in this storyline

Nice vid! My only complaint is that Duma wasn't finished off with a sword user.
As an echoes fan, Nosferatu can actually kill Duma. Though most people don't do it.
I would have loved to have seen the Dark Emblems get full character models of the villains from the games they're meant to represent.Still a great moment in the game.
The reason 1:02 why celica did not kill is because in gaiden anyone could kill duma
And the fact that he used Nosferstu the other way besides Falchion to kill him makes it 100 times better

Would have loved the idea of either the emblem carriers referencing either the final bosses themselves or people associated with them, or the carriers being designed to be weak to the emblems. Here's my ideas for the former:
Shadow Dragon: Halberdier {Has Brionac} (Based on Hardin)
War Father: Paladin (Lance) (Based on Rudolf/Berkut)
Dark God: Mage Knight (Sword) {Has Bolganone and Silver Sword} (Based on Arvis)
Dark Bishop: Martial Master {Has Freeze staff} (Based on Raydrik/Veld) (Bit of a stretch, but Raydrik used staves and Veld's Petrify is more focused on inflicting status, to say nothing of staves being broken in Thracia 776)
Demon Dragon: Hero (Lance) (Based on Zephiel)
Dark Druid: Sage (Based on Nergal)
Demon King: High Priest (Based on Lyon) [Alternatives: Sage for Lyon]
Mad King: Wyvern Knight (Sword, Axe) (Based on Ashnard) [Alternatives: General (Sword) for Black Knight]
Judgment: General (Sword) (Based on Black Knight) [Alternatives: High Priest for Sephiran]
Despair: Griffon Knight (Sword) {Has Levin Sword} (Based on both Morgans) [Alternatives: Sorcerer for Male Morgan, Wyvern Knight for Female Morgan and Grima, High Priest for Robin]
Mad Dragon: Warrior (Based on Garon and Takumi) [Alternatives: Berserker for Garon, Sniper for Takumi, Great Knight (Lance, Axe) for Gunter]
King of Liberation: Wolf Knight (Sword) (Loosely based on Shez) [Alternatives: Swordmaster for Nemesis/Rhea/Shez, Hero (Axe) for Nemesis, Sage for Thales]
I did my best to ensure that (1) none of them shared classes or used any exclusive classes, (2) at least one of each weapon type. So particularly easy for swords, lances and tomes, difficult for axes, bows and daggers (Bow and dagger bosses are rare, let alone final bosses), and problematic for tome users (Only 3 classes).
God I wish I could one round Nemesis...

Now we got solid proof that Byleth sided with the Golden Deer. The only way to take on the Liberation King is to side with Khalid to find that out. Whether Byleth saved all he could is up for debate. But it is assumed he did.

I tried to beat Madeus with Falchion in shadow dragon, didn't work so Marth is lying.
Falchion in Shadow Dragon is a bit of a troll from the game, he does much better in New Mystery
My Alear carried. No seriously. All of my characters died. Her speed was off the charts. Not to mention all evasion abilities, like speedtaker plus perceptive.
It just took about 2 hours......
Getting the bad ending without actually getting the bad ending. XD
