I have been watching this cover, the Chameleon and hell even the Ouya for years and still cant wrap my head that those consoles one day will beat out the big 3 Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft at the same time SMH. Absolutely the right call to make a video about this. I knew about the Amico failure & how they reacted negatively to your comments, but what I'm shocked by is just how low they stooped with the comments made about you guys and to bring Frank into it, wow just awful. On a bit more of a comical note I did find Ian's angry rant very cathartic to witness. Huge respect for what you've both achieved with the podcast & look forward to the future specials.

I didn’t really know how I felt going into this video. A few of the people mentioned I consider friends and believe they do have good hearts. I still believe that. But that said a couple parts of this video were hard to watch because there were legitimately cruel things said and done and a couple of times I just saw the pain you guys felt. Or anger, I don’t mean to speak for you. I think that no one is perfect and I’m sorry for the things you had to put up with. It made me angry to see anyone go after Frank especially, he’s completely innocent in all of this, that was uncalled for.

As someone who participated in speech therapy, speaking is hard. Language is even harder. Constructing sounds out of a world of dialects, accents, and slang? It's a surprise we even manage to communicate.

Pat is a genuine guy and that seems to bother a lot of people. There's a retro store owner around these parts who really dislikes him. Back when i used to frequent his store and i mentioned Pat's NES Guide, he went on a tirade about how's theres better books out there and i was like "really? I've never seen a comprehensive guide for the NES before, which books are those?" And he never answered my question. 🤣

I've never met Frank but I love when he appears in any of Pat's youtube videos. He seems like such a nice older guy. Rich looks like a total asshole villain and quite frankly a total dumbass for attacking him.

Thank You for this Pat & Ian. While I wasn't attacked by those specific people highlighted in this video, I was also one of the first to be attacked by Tommy and his Amico goons at AtariAge for putting out reasonable criticism about the Amico. I'm not one to gloat, but given how they treated us I will make an exception for this situation.
The worst part about Rich's "jokes" is the fact that he roasted QuantumTV last year for similarly phobic remarks. How do you go from rightfully calling someone out for their bigotry, to engaging in similar behavior just half a year later?! Rich's utter lack of self awareness is jaw dropping! And yet the hypocrite wonders why the "Rich Tomorrow" meme exists... EDIT: Also, Rich and his buddy can honestly go to hell for taking shots at Frank. Seriously.
I get what you're saying here, but I do have to disagree with what I would call similar. The jokes Rich were using may have been in poor taste, and a bit demeaning in nature (but could easily be seen an an individual tasteless attack the same if done for people of differing genders); but he never took it as far as to literally call for the Death of a demographic and double down on it. So I see it as similar as the difference between farting in someone's face vs. locking someone in a room filling with methane gas. Both fall somewhere in a very wide net of the direction of a methodology, both fall into extremely different levels of "mean" if one wants to equate all gas-based "mean" acts the same, but have entirely different intended effects in execution.
My big takeaway from your video wasn't about the Amico. It was about me never having tried struffoli (despite my proximity to NYC) and my need to rectify this mistake
One of the things that made Pat's friends (Frank and Ian) so popular among Pat's audience is they are genuine guys. Frank is so much cooler than Rich from review tech, it boggles my mind Rich could think to make fun of him like that on the internet for people to see. Talk about not saying stuff to peoples face. I think Frank would still be able to pump Rich in a fight and Rich is probably 20+ years younger (doesn't look it). Good thing for Rich that actual tough guys are usually nice, like Frank.
I don't even know if he do tech reviews like other channels like Linus Tech Tips or Austin Evans. He just react to other people videos just to either make fun of it or give his bias opinions and just don't know what he is talking about if he was a gamer or a tech geek like some of us here.

It's extremely sad at how low people will go to get a few views, kudos for Ian for raising his voice and calling Rich and his friend out for the absolutely distasteful things they said about Frank and also the art behind him. It's very disappointing that people with large channels and a voice are on TH-cam saying absolutely horrible things and removing any sort of integrity that they have. As a parent it angered me watching them make fun of the hand print and other stuff. These people have really really empty lives and it's just pathetic at how low they will stoop.
I remember the video when that guy was doing this sort of *questioning* of Ian's health and such. This was literally right after he "saw the light" about the Amico and "seemed" like he was ready to turn a new leaf. But when I saw it, I was kind of dumbfounded by the audacity of doing that. It was purely a "salt" video by someone who seemed so angry Pat and Ian were right the whole time, felt ashamed, and wanted to fling some dirt on those who tried to warn him. If he didn't do that, I would've been more convinced he really was coming around the way he made it seem at first. But alas, it only reopened wounds and put him back on the path of doubling down. The panacea was right there. It was as if at the last minute the person decided to slap the panacea away and say, "I don't need that. I'm a big man!" That video had nothing to do with the Amico, he said it himself. It was a direct personal attack disguised as an "inquiry". So yeah, by that very nature, only a direct apology would be nice. Since it didn't involve the Amico (as by what was said in that video), apologizing for handling the Amico says absolutely nothing about it.

SmashJT was slowly coming back up, telling inside stories about his real experience with Tommy T. and how weird everything seemed to be, admitting the CU Podcast was right about Tommy and how he lost his money in the Amico fiasco, all up until he went off a cliff trashing Ian and trying to come up with conspiracies about his illness. That was the moment I knew he was really full of BS.
SmashJT only did an about face with the Amico when Phil took over as CEO, and only after he discovered he was involved with the Coleco Chameleon. However, why did it take many people so long to notice that connection? Phil has been with the company ever since the Amico was announced, yet for a long time nobody seemed to have questioned his past on the other scam that is Chameleon.
i don't think ians gofundme was structured as a loan with promises of riches. it's just ebegging which is fine if you wanted to donate(it's fine to like or not like it), but tommy didn't just say "I can't work like I used to, give me money to cover my living", instead tommy said "loan me money! I AM A WINNER AND I WILL MAKE US RICH!" and lying about his proof for how he would pay everyone back.

when you guys would say the amico became "The anti-pat and ian console" on the podcast I thought you were mostly just joking, but no, lmao, it's amazing how many of these people with a crazy dedication to what was obviously a scam from very early on also happen to have weird grudges and backstory with two retro game podcasters. it's "owning your enemies" taken to disastrously pathetic proportions. it really was a joke, but the joke was on these goofs.
The CU Podcast has been an anchor point for grounded conversation in a crazy surreal culture that moves far too fast for my taste. Perhaps it's because we're of the same generation perhaps it's the content perhaps it's the perfect combination of both for me but you guys will always be something I truly appreciated and enjoyed. Usually I think it's cringe when content creators call out people who talked some shit about them but I think you guys earned this one, it's amazing how many of these guys came out like a cult to attack you guys over a clearly shit idea and the promises of a known con-man. Second, based on the past of these modernized gimmick consoles, the Coleco Chameleon, Atari VCS, how could anyone really believe the Amico had a fighting chance even with a decent company backing it? This thing had no chance from the beginning.

I need to drop in with something totally random. So I watched the Toploaded Gaming interview with Tommy you guys mentioned a few years ago and I realized something: Tommy doesn't play video games. Tommy only references games from the 90s at the latest, and genuinely doesn't seem to understand anything about the modern gaming landscape aside from the idea that people don't like micro transactions, which as far as I know hadn't been The Thing in game discourse for like 6 years at the time of the interview. Tommy was someone who doesn't play video games, marketing a video game console for people who don't play video games. Whenever he said "casual gamers" he meant he was literally trying to sell video games to people who don't play video games. He assumed everyone who doesn't play video games doesn't play them for the same reasons that he does, did nothing to challenge that assumption, did nothing to challenge his preconceived notions about a by then long changed landscape, and wanted specifically to market it at people so divorced from the landscape they wouldn't know better. How did anyone think this would work??
This needed to be addressed. Many of us who have been following the Amico scam since day 1 have been saying that the Tommy-worshipping TH-camrs need to be held accountable. We've had comments deleted by them and we've been blocked just for asking basic questions or voicing rational concerns. Tommy Tallarico himself has deleted conversations between me and him when he ended up looking bad and couldn't turn it around on me. Worst of all is investor DJC, who continues to willingly deceive the public.
It's kind of crazy how people are so intent on detonating themselves. Before this all went down, I used to really enjoy a decent number of a certain Lets Look At Technology Stuff In America channel's videos, and now you wouldn't catch me dead wasting my time on his stuff. As someone who moved into a new house recently I am genuinely bummed that I no longer have a basement. It's great for storage and plus my man cave used to be down there. Using "working/living in your basement" is not the insult people seem to think it is.

I have basement just for doing live stream which I haven't done it yet but I usually have my other computer for other projects in the living room. Basement is great for storage. Most of the basement are in the East Coasts and the West Coasts most have gated doors and clay style house because of the earthquakes and usually they have an attach garages.

I didn’t really know how I felt going into this video. A few of the people mentioned I consider friends and believe they do have good hearts. I still believe that. But that said a couple parts of this video were hard to watch because there were legitimately cruel things said and done and a couple of times I just saw the pain you guys felt. Or anger, I don’t mean to speak for you. I think that no one is perfect and I’m sorry for the things you had to put up with. It made me angry to see anyone go after Frank especially, he’s completely innocent in all of this, that was uncalled for.

I get what you're saying here, but I do have to disagree with what I would call similar. The jokes Rich were using may have been in poor taste, and a bit demeaning in nature (but could easily be seen an an individual tasteless attack the same if done for people of differing genders); but he never took it as far as to literally call for the Death of a demographic and double down on it. So I see it as similar as the difference between farting in someone's face vs. locking someone in a room filling with methane gas. Both fall somewhere in a very wide net of the direction of a methodology, both fall into extremely different levels of "mean" if one wants to equate all gas-based "mean" acts the same, but have entirely different intended effects in execution.

One of the things that made Pat's friends (Frank and Ian) so popular among Pat's audience is they are genuine guys. Frank is so much cooler than Rich from review tech, it boggles my mind Rich could think to make fun of him like that on the internet for people to see. Talk about not saying stuff to peoples face. I think Frank would still be able to pump Rich in a fight and Rich is probably 20+ years younger (doesn't look it). Good thing for Rich that actual tough guys are usually nice, like Frank.

It's extremely sad at how low people will go to get a few views, kudos for Ian for raising his voice and calling Rich and his friend out for the absolutely distasteful things they said about Frank and also the art behind him. I remember the video when that guy was doing this sort of *questioning* of Ian's health and such. This was literally right after he "saw the light" about the Amico and "seemed" like he was ready to turn a new leaf. But when I saw it, I was kind of dumbfounded by the audacity of doing that. It was purely a "salt" video by someone who seemed so angry Pat and Ian were right the whole time, felt ashamed, and wanted to fling some dirt on those who tried to warn him. If he didn't do that, I would've been more convinced he really was coming around the way he made it seem at first. But alas, it only reopened wounds and put him back on the path of doubling down. The panacea was right there. It was as if at the last minute the person decided to slap the panacea away and say, "I don't need that. I'm a big man!"
That video had nothing to do with the Amico, he said it himself. It was a direct personal attack disguised as an "inquiry". So yeah, by that very nature, only a direct apology would be nice. Since it didn't involve the Amico (as by what was said in that video), apologizing for handling the Amico says absolutely nothing about it.
This is the kind of video that makes me sad you guys are finishing up. Honesty and integrity is something that has been lost in the last ten years of YT and you guys have it in spades.

That was the moment I knew he was really full of BS.
SmashJT only did an about face with the Amico when Phil took over as CEO, and only after he discovered he was involved with the Coleco Chameleon. However, why did it take many people so long to notice that connection? Phil has been with the company ever since the Amico was announced, yet for a long time nobody seemed to have questioned his past on the other scam that is Chameleon.
i don't think ians gofundme was structured as a loan with promises of riches. it's just ebegging which is fine if you wanted to donate(it's fine to like or not like it), but tommy didn't just say "I can't work like I used to, give me money to cover my living", instead tommy said "loan me money! I AM A WINNER AND I WILL MAKE US RICH!" and lying about his proof for how he would pay everyone back.

The CU Podcast has been an anchor point for grounded conversation in a crazy surreal culture that moves far too fast for my taste. Perhaps it's because we're of the same generation perhaps it's the content perhaps it's the perfect combination of both for me but you guys will always be something I truly appreciated and enjoyed. You know- I haven't always agreed with what you two have said in the past. But I love every bit of you calling these guys out. I was in total agreement with your skepticism of the Amico, just like some of the other vaporware projects in the past. I especially love the SmashJT flaming because that guy has been a phony from day 1- and he's been attempting to distance himself from the whole debacle without addressing how wrong he was. These posers have to be called out- or they will keep doing what they do- which is disingenuous in every way possible. These guys exist just for attempting to quit their day jobs and they will do anything in order to do so. No ethics whatsoever.

Keep in mind Rich didn't even SAY the mermaid thing, Tallarico did. But this is Pat speaking directly for himself, without being prompted. But Pat is an arrogant and hypocritical asshole, so it's different when he does it I guess.
I get that everyone here is a fan of Pat's cult of personality and gets the one sided view of Rich from him, but speaking as someone who has been following both Pat/Ian and Rich for the better part of a decade now, it's Pat and Ian who are full of shit here, not Rich. And I kinda put up with Pat/Ian until this last victory lap, this is honestly the last straw for me on their self-important intentionally slanderous bullshit, all because they can't forgive that some people were tricked by the Amico, even if it was only for a very short while and they admitted they were wrong a million times the way Rich did.

I need to drop in with something totally random. So I watched the Toploaded Gaming interview with Tommy you guys mentioned a few years ago and I realized something: Tommy doesn't play video games. Tommy only references games from the 90s at the latest, and genuinely doesn't seem to understand anything about the modern gaming landscape aside from the idea that people don't like micro transactions, which as far as I know hadn't been The Thing in game discourse for like 6 years at the time of the interview. Tommy was someone who doesn't play video games, marketing a video game console for people who don't play video games. Whenever he said "casual gamers" he meant he was literally trying to sell video games to people who don't play video games. He assumed everyone who doesn't play video games doesn't play them for the same reasons that he does, did nothing to challenge that assumption, did nothing to challenge his preconceived notions about a by then long changed landscape, and wanted specifically to market it at people so divorced from the landscape they wouldn't know better. How did anyone think this would work??
This needed to be addressed. Many of us who have been following the Amico scam since day 1 have been saying that the Tommy-worshipping TH-camrs need to be held accountable. We've had comments deleted by them and we've been blocked just for asking basic questions or voicing rational concerns. Tommy Tallarico himself has deleted conversations between me and him when he ended up looking bad and couldn't turn it around on me. Worst of all is investor DJC, who continues to willingly deceive the public.

It's kind of crazy how people are so intent on detonating themselves. Before this all went down, I used to really enjoy a decent number of a certain Lets Look At Technology Stuff In America channel's videos, and now you wouldn't catch me dead wasting my time on his stuff.

26:35 you know, this whole rant by Ian caught me a bit by surprise. I didn't know if it was true exactly, but I've also never had a reason to doubt him, but now that there was a bit of drama brewing between Rich and Jay as a result of those clowns breaking up, it did add a bit of clarity to what Ian is saying here.
The Amico Christmas episode killed those shills, but this video revived them just so Pat and Ian could kill them again.

As someone who moved into a new house recently I am genuinely bummed that I no longer have a basement. It's great for storage and plus my man cave used to be down there. Using "working/living in your basement" is not the insult people seem to think it is.

I have basement just for doing live stream which I haven't done it yet but I usually have my other computer for other projects in the living room. Basement is great for storage. Most of the basement are in the East Coasts and the West Coasts most have gated doors and clay style house because of the earthquakes and usually they have an attach garages.
Wow that was something else! I knew some of the stuff they said was awful but I didn't expect to actually start feeling heated from some of their comments.
For the record, I voted for "Yes but don't be petty", but I'm not disappointed! Compared to some of the filth they pumped out, I didn't see any real pettiness from either of you. I'm honestly impressed at how above-the-belt you two were all things considered. Great job guys, wish you both the best going forward, whatever you pursue. I like to think that this could be a teaching moment for some of those scumbags, but honestly I'm not holding my breath.
