heading into my 3rd year at NU as a humanities major (Criminal Justice and Political Science) and while the programs are smaller and get less funding than STEM and business, i would say my professors have still been amazing and my experience in my classes has been great!
@@karenaugustin615 hi! im still not exactly sure, but my first co-op was at a law firm and i’m strongly considering going into law. but if not law then maybe some organization like the ACLU that advocates for human/civil rights!
@@avah.9418 hi, my daughter got accepted in the same program and will be attending this fall. I was wondering if she could connect with you to give her some insights into the program?
These videos from Tiffany are really good. I wish I had done this back in 1998 when I arrived at NU. It was my dream school too and it lived up to all the hype for me!
Hi! I'm in the Boston NUin 2020 program and super excited to start. Thank you for this video :) This year is definitely crazy. Only Ireland and Boston are left. I believe NUin also accounts for students that have scores and GPAs they want to leave out to have higher percentages and move the school up the ranks. This year we'll be living in the Westin Hotel. There are 1000 students in Boston and a few hundred in Ireland, I believe.
Hi! I got accepted into Northeastern a few months ago as well as the NUin program. I was wondering what the Boston program was like, because at this point I'm choosing between it and Greece. Do you think it was worth it to do a study abroad type program in Boston? How was it overall?
Thank you so much for this video! I'm a senior in highschool and I fell in love with NU. However, I'm a prospective CSSH student (political science and criminal justice or political science and international affairs), and I come from a tiny town where we don't have many AP classes available, or many huge opportunities to put on college apps. There are 7 APs offered at my school and I will have taken 4 of them by the time I graduate. I got 5s on both the ones I have already taken. I am class president, in NHS, Student Council, and leader of two other clubs. I'm not submitting my SAT scores because they aren't very good, and my school doesn't do GPA or rankings (we are proficiency based), but I would be at the top of my class with the equivalent of something over a 4.0. I volunteer and have work experience. My essay is pretty good and I'm going to apply ED in November so I still have some time to perfect it, but do you think Humanities majors would have an easier time getting into NU than STEM/Business majors? I know my stats aren't the best but I really really want to go to NU. I also don't mind as much if the programs for humanities aren't as funded, I looked at the coop posters for political science + criminal justice and I was almost foaming at the mouth because I want to go here so badly. Sorry for the excessively long comment, but your video was so informative and wanted to see if you could answer my question :)
Thankyou so much for posting this video. My son got into N.U.in Program, Northeastern University trying to get insight and also this video is very helpful.Goodlick to you!
Do you feel isolated at NEU? I'm interested in applying all the way from Seattle, Washington and I don't know how isolated I would feel. I enjoy a city environment, is there a lot of things to do by the school?
I never felt isolated at NEU, there's a good amount of things to do in Boston! but I'm not sure how freshmen are dealing with this bc covid probably changed the ways they can meet each other
Thank you so much for posting this informative video. Would you kindly share your thought on whether COOP will be beneficial, neutral, or disadvantageous for students who plan to pursue M.S. degree instead of job market upon graduation?
you said the humanities program is underfunded compare to the others, so does that mean there's less opportunities for dialogue and co-OP and study abroad if you want to go into those areas?
I don't really like the atmosphere at NEU and there are other schools that I would rather go to, but because of the costs, I choose to go to NEU since they offered me huge grant money that's equivalent to $60,000. Also, the co-op programs seemed really appealing too. Who doesn't want to earn some money while in college? But then again, the perspective of graduating in 5 years kind of scared me. I would do everything I can to graduate in 4 years. I have a question for you: how do people manage to pack co-ops, study abroad, classes, and federal work-study all in 4 years. You only have 8 semesters after all. And if my grant pays only for my classes, then if I do 2 semesters of classes (freshman year), and 2 co-ops (one in the spring of the sophomore year, and one in the spring of junior year). This only left me with my senior year to do study abroad. This means that I will probably have to make up for the classes that I missed while I'm on co-ops during the summer, otherwise, I won't be able to graduate on time. So this means that you can pick only one over the other. I'm a freshman this year, and with everything being shut down by COVID this year, I'm worried if it's even worth it to spend my entire undergraduate here at Northeastern.
hi! in general, it's very common to take summer classes at neu to graduate on time. since students usually don't take classes while on co-op, the main way to make up for this is to take classes over the summer unless you were able to come into neu with lots of AP credit. You could do a study abroad during one of your class semesters during your second or third year here or you can try a study abroad during the summer - there are lots of programs if you look at the neu global experience websites! hope this helps
Thank you so much for this helpful and thorough video. I'm kind of interested in the different combined design/media majors at NU. Do you or anyone you know have an opinion on those programs? Is it good, is it underfunded like humanities. professors, etc?
I'm glad you liked the video! I know that computer science and design is a popular combined major but I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for. the college of arts is a smaller college at northeastern, but I wouldn't say they're underfunded
It's really safe imo! it never feels dangerous even at night and they have a blue light system like most other campuses so if you're in danger you can call for help using that and they have campus police
can you still do the co-op program and graduate in four years? i’m looking to go to med school after and I don’t want to prolong my undergrad years but the co-op program seems great for experience.
Strong. I am a class of '03 grad and the Health Sciences is very strong. Had several friends who went through that program and loved it. Felt it prepared them very well. I was Journalism. But you won't regret the decision to go to NU

Hi! I got accepted ea and am still deciding! I know I want to study abroad wherever I go and at neu would go into the exploratory engineering program but I don’t even know if engineering is for me (I’m just really good at science and math). Would it be harder for me to explore what I want to do with the coops, study abroad, etc.? How rushed would the decision to focus in on something be? Also I’m a vegetarian and overall very healthy eater, I was wondering what kind of food options there would be and if they are any good or very limited (Btw I love fruit). The video was great and I would love if u could get back to me soon! :) thanks!
Hey! You probably decided already but I've heard that they have food that can fit within any dietary restrictions. Where did you end up deciding to go?
I know you said Northeastern is expensive relative to its prestige, however, would you say Northeastern is expensive relative to its quality of education?
I think the quality of education is great! but I don't know how to compare it to other university prices and quality since I haven't attended classes anywhere else
I know this is an older video, but if you don't mind me asking, what were your stats that got you into Northeastern? I am extremely interested in applying this coming fall but am afraid I will fall short because I may not have enough community service hours or my GPA will be too low.
hey! I'm not the creator of this video but I got accepted into northeastern during this college admissions cycle with a 97.8 weighted gpa (no idea what it is on a 4.0 scale sorry, this is how my school does it lol) and the only significant community service hours I had were from my first year and a half of high school. don't worry too much though, because they do have holistic admissions! my friend got accepted with a lower gpa but great extracurriculars
