I never really see non catholic people talk kindly of catholic schools. as a roman catholic, thank you so much. it means a lot that different groups can respect each other and love each other at bc.
I’m class of ‘72. My class included the first grad to attend rabbinical school. Nobody has Catholicism shoved down their throats. Gotta think it’s even more laid back now.
Thank you so much for posting such an insightful and helpful video. I echo some of the comments. As a Roman Catholic it is so great to hear that BC has been an inclusive environment for all and you considered it a positive aspect of your experience. We are exploring BC for our high school daughter and possibly applying. You’ve confirmed several things we’ve already seen and heard. All the best in your future pursuits and, thanks again.
I visited BC once. An amazing and beautiful school. As a Muslim I appreciate BC and the Jesuit Catholic Tradition and their focus on the liberal arts tradition with their Core Curriculum and Theology requirement. The focus on educating the whole person is lost on many schools nowadays! BC and Zaytuna College share those ideals. Zaytuna College is America's First Accredited Muslim Liberal Arts College. Anyway, very cool. I love Boston and Boston College is the best school with the most beautiful campus!
I love you really shining light and showing the beauty of a catholic education even as someone who wasn't super religious growing up! It's awesome to see that!
just applied ED2 to bc!! it’s my dream school and I’m really hoping I get in. Just submitted my application a few days ago and placed an order from their bookstore for a sweatshirt. I’m planning to wear the sweatshirt when opening the decision letter, manifesting this for myself haha. BC has so much to offer and I love the city of Boston, but it’s also in the suburbs which makes it more quiet and peaceful. Overall I’m so nervous for February 15, it’s when decisions come out and if I don’t get in I would be so disappointed:(
I’m applying to transfer out of Tufts this year, but I want to stay in Boston! Thank you for the video! When I was still in high school, my tour here really wasn’t great which is why I never applied. I definitely will apply this winter though!

I went to a Catholic elementary & middle school and I always heard non-catholic students speak very poorly about the school's religious affiliation. It's very refreshing to hear a non-Catholic person speak about a Catholic school with kindness and with respect
Hi Sheri! Thanks for making so many informative videos about BC. Could you make a video about dorm necessities to bring to BC? I'm an incoming freshman coming from california, and I'm really worried I'm not gonna have enough blankets to keep warm haha
Committed a few days ago! Really excited to be BC ‘24. I’m starting as a poli sci major, and I’m interested in doing a communications minor. What are your experiences with a communications classes and professors?
great question! As of now I think the option of comm as a minor is only available if you’re in Lynch- otherwise it can be added as a double major! That being said though I love the classes and there are definitely some iconic professors in the comm department- the electives are super fun (I’m taking one on Asian Americans in Sport right now!) hope this helps:)
Sheri--awesome informative video. My son just got accepted off wait list and I am overjoyed--your video makes me so happy that he chose BC over UMich. That being said, every HS senior is SO worried that the whole next 4 years will be effed up by covid. is there any word among the student body about plans for the fall at BC? PS we live in Cali, so it's not drivable. thx in advance
thank you! and congrats to your son, that's awesome!! so far there have been no announcements made on fall semester, but as I'm sure you know, freshman orientation and all of the summer stuff is going to be online. fingers crossed we are back in the fall!! I've heard that some colleges are planning for students to return but BC has not given us any details yet.
I’m currently trying to decide between BC and Fordham. I love everything about BC except the price... I’m looking at around 150k in loans and no aid. I was wondering if that’s common at BC or if you or anyone else you know there is in a similar situation. Basically, is BC worth the price/debt?
hi maddie! this is a super tough question because I would definitely say that BC has given me amazing opportunities that I do not think I would've had at any other school. While some students receive financial aid, I know that many also have to work throughout the year to help finance their education. I cannot persuade you one way or the other, but in my experience, BC has been worth the price. I have to acknowledge the huge amount of privilege I have in that my parents are able to pay for my education, so I may have also considered other options if that were not the case. I am so happy with my decision, but I think college is what you make of it! No matter where you end up at school, you will find ways to love it:)
Hi Sheri! I love your video, I’m planning on attending BC law school for my LLM and i was wondering if you can do a video, or just tell me what’s your monthly budget living in Boston. Hope you are taking care of yourself xx
Hi! It’s different for undergrads because most of us live in on campus housing and are a part of the meal plan- but from what I’ve heard, off campus apartments are ~$1000/month per person if that helps! and for personal spending money(off campus meals, shopping, groceries if needed, etc), I try to keep it at ~$200 a month!
Hi Sheri, as a first-generation gay Asian-American student, I still have concerns about applying to BC. Now that it's been 2 years since you made the video and you're probably out of school already, do you think BC has improved a lot in terms of LGBTQ and racial diversity and acceptance?
To be fair I'm not a catholic but I am a believer in christ and I love this school because the area and the food here but I am in the senior year so it would be a blessing if I get accepted
Out of curiosity is boston college considered to be diploma mill? Sounds too religious to be actual academic institution. I'm european so religious college/university sounds like oxymoron. Are there any research opportunities beyond life sciences and bible studying?
hi! I am not too familiar with the transfer process, but I know that BC has a decent amount of orientation/programs for transfer students to connect with each other and form a community. And on your application, maybe focus on why you want to transfer to BC specifically and not just any other school! hope this helps :)
Hello! this video was super helpful! I am sorry to bother you but I have one small question. Top colleges such as Duke, Georgetown and etc when a student wants to get in clubs they have to take I guess auditions and tests does Boston college also have this kind of tradition?
yes, the performing arts clubs at BC have audition processes (acapella groups, dance, etc) and some academic/service clubs have regular application processes
Quick question about the BC Covid policies. We are scheduling a tour for our kid (HS senior) and it says you have to show a Vaxx Passport to go on a tour. Is that for real? Even CDC says to treat vaxxed/unvaxxed the same. Is there a back story? Did a lot of BC students perish from Covid or something? Even here in super-liberal Silicon Valley, we've returned to normal life.
i'm definitely not the most informed person on pre med stuff haha but I think you take pretty difficult classes no matter where you go to school if you are premed! but, I know one of the department faculty members through a retreat and he is one the nicest and inspirational people I have ever met.
hey thank you for this helpful video!!!! im an international student and im rly interested in BC , but as an lgbt guy and regarding BC's religious background, do you think it is a tolerant or safe space for me?

the town around BC is beautiful! not a ton of hiking trails that I know of but still quiet walking paths like by the reservoir!
why do people have an issue with a dorm at Newton?
It’s on a separate campus so u have to take a bus to your classes!
Hey! I also have another random question. Do you recommend finding a roommate on the FB group, or going random?
I talk about this in my next video!
✍️
I’m thinking about double majoring and double minoring, is it super difficult?? How are you able to manage it??
It definitely depends on what core classes you can place out of with APs! I’d say if u took 7+ APs that translate to core requirements then it’s not hard to double major and double minor.
In terms of managing it, I still take the standard five classes per semester and I love what I’m studying! It’s definitely nice to have a little bit of coursework in different subjects.
