This is Mastodon's performance at Roskilde Festival 2015 at Arena Stage on Thursday 2nd of July.
The show experienced some sound diffculties but it is an awesome performance nonetheless, enjoy :-)

ok these guys may not have a stellar vocal performance live, since most songs are insane on their throats, but by god do these men have some of the best sounding instrumentals ive seen in heavy metal in a while, when not completely high on acid, they're amazing at their instruments

I was there. The sound desk lost power during 24:20 - 28:07 but no one told the band. The band could hear them self, but the audience didn't hear shit. The show was shit after that, because I think it ruined their mood completely. SOMEONE HAS TO TELL THE BAND WHEN THE PA IS OUT! I really felt bad for them.
it doesn't look like Bill is wearing in-ears... Brann is probably the only one who is. I guess they just kept playing anyways?

Brann is a drumming machine, every performance is just perfect, so intense and technical! Keep on!
These guys are the absolute business.
I've seen mastodon live 4 times, they were always outstanding.

Brann is such a beast, hes drumming- the most physically demanding instrument out of all these guys, and he is out singing everyone.

Alright this is criminal. You can't fucking even hear Brent sing on oblivion. A song he usually fucks up live but a song he more than nails on record. Such a great band musically and artistically it's such a shame to hear them not just nail their great songs.

I think he had a pretty shit day here.. He punched the amps at one point during the concert and even walked off-stage while playing.
His soloing during Bladecatcher is absolutely stellar though
Speaker cab actually and its most likely hollow and just for show set up by the stage hands. This is quite often the case with speaker walls you see on stage now, technology has progressed and nobody is playing outta them anymore. However you can tell from the very beginning they are not happy with the mixing which I am sure is why they all look somewhat unhappy.
These cabs are all loaded. Each stack is pushed by a different amp for different sounds. These guys aren't faking shit. I've been on their stage.
Then you would have to mic up each stack separately. I think they run differend heads into the same miced up cab and then switch them, since there doesnt seem to be that many mics on the stage. Mybe they even have all the cabs wiredup and playing, but the only ones that are actually important are the miked ones.
Also, using a kemper or axefx is not "faking shit", you still have to play, and the sound quality is so good that nobody in a live setting can hear the difference.
there's no need to mike cabs these days with stuff like Torpedo Live, CAB, etc.

It's really fun to watch how guys struggles to play decent.
It's so raw, so alive. Like life itself. Great track-list. Not bad sound production. Tight kick, hearable vocals, guitars. Toms are massive! :DD
Guys are obviously somewhat depressed, it seems to them that everything did not work out. But in fact, it makes them play even better, which gives an absolutely amazing concert atmosphere, which is impossible at "perfectly" tuned and verified concerts.
Brent got the most, he is really angry and annoyed, but this allows him to spit and play as it is played, rock it out, which is delivers to listeners.
This gig is an excellent proof that lively emotions and unexpected surprises can even add drive, unlike ideal conditions.

Sorry guys love Mastodon, but I can´t help myself Troy sounds like on autotune all the time. Don´t know if it´s the weird mix but it sounds like that to me :(
I've seen them 3 times and the vocals were not bad live. BUT the 2nd time I saw them (The Hunter album tour) the vocals were too low beneath the other sound for half the show. I was near the pit.
Great set list. However the mix is bad & the technical difficulties really threw the band into what seemed like "Fuck it" mode

+Fr3akymet4l Something went terribly wrong with the sound system. They couldn't hear each other at all on the stage, and the audience could only hear some unarticulated noise coming out of the speakers. But they kept playing "deaf", and that proves just how badass they actually are!
I see you noticed Brent punching a speaker cabinet. If I was him, there's no way I would be able to stop there. I would demolish every goddamn piece of equipment on that stage. After that, I would go and find the guy responsible for the sound and I'd put him in a wheelchair for life.

This is possibly one of the worst sounding live shows I've ever heard. The mixing and levels are terrible. The band is so fucking talented and their crew or the venue is just fucking their shit up.
Nah, I guess it's just the sound of the stream, it's normal to sound bad, you can see a lot of shows like this, the sound at the place tends to be better.
Man, honestly I've seen these guys a few times and though the mixing is a little fucky on this, they just can not sing like they master it in the studio. Nothing against the band, they've come a long way and I'll see them any time they're around but they're just not the greatest live.
I was at the concert! They had major sound issues during the entire show! The sound even fell out several times during the concert. So definetly some serious technical issues during the entire concert.

Makain Wiginton Who doesn't smoke and drink? Well I for one don't and many others don't as well. In fact more people don't than do. Might seem normal to you that most consume drugs but it's not actually what the majority does. But if a band is going on to perform a show it would be professional and preferable if they left the partying until after the show is over, at least for the sake of the crowd who paid to see a solid performance.

nada ver mano, o show tava com um som horrivel, dá pra ver quando o brent soca o amp dele, os retornos deviam estar ruins pra caramba. Não que o vocal dos caras sempre tenha sido bom ao vivo, mas eles normalmente fazem um bom show, esse ai só foi um show ruim.
O Brent teve uma decaída monstra depois q ele teve uma fratura cerebral quando bateu a cabeça numa briga com um dos caras do System. Junto com o abuso de álcool, ele ficou completamente sem noção...
I love mastadon, with that said, I think Brent is a great studio singer, but live wise he doesn't come close to the Album.
