    As a person that works with high schoolers in the US (specifically NY) it's so cool to see similarities in behaviors and wittiness around the world in other cultures. I study in a school for tons of immigrant children learning the dutch language and it's so funny to see how everyone gets along and is every character you could see through middle school and highschool, the popular group the nerds quiet kids and who not! But by the end of the day everyone gets along and talks to each other dispite race or religion and its the sweetest thing I've experienced, I'm 17 and this has made a big impact in my life and has changed the way I think. Have you ever learn a foreign language? I mean for real not on a duolingo application by yourself. Do you know that for some people speaking another language can be stressful and challenging? English is no exception. It's need a lot of courage to speak in front of other people when it's not your language and yeah stuff like that can happen. Nothing to made fun of.

      @@Wins7YT I'm not in his mind, but I use to teach French to immigrants and I notice that, especially asians in beginner level, tend to translate the meaning of their names. So maybe he was thinking how to say his name in English or he was thinking if it is better to say his first or last name first (since in Japanese they say their last name before the first). It could be also only nervosity.

    • @SidusBrist
      @SidusBrist ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I think it's because Japanese people invert their phrases compared to English, so after he said "my name is" he would naturally have ended the sentence but he forgot to say his name, while actually he was doing right!

    • @CS-et4fs
      @CS-et4fs ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I think Sidus is right. Im learning Japanese recently. They form their sentences by putting the object before the verb. So instead of “I eat apple”, they say “I apple eat”. Since the dude already said the “eat” part, i guess he confuse that he alr end the sentence

      Pretty sure there are people who are going to tell you that you shouldn’t, because of the culture shock and everything. And how Japanese kids are ignorant, yata yata yata.
      My aunt is an English teacher in Japan and to her experience, she pretty much enjoys it. But again, the culture difference was the hardest thing for her.
      I also grew up in Japan and I had this funny ALT and I asked his experiences of being one. You can really tell how he loves his job a lot by the way he talks about it. He’s been teaching in Japan for 11 years. He understands Japanese but he can’t speak Japanese lol. While I’m the opposite. I can understand English but I can’t speak it. So he talks to me in English and I talk to him in Japanese, it’s so funny
      So if someone says don’t be an English teacher in Japan, just keep in mind that not everyone has the same exact experiences. Try it out first, quit the job if it isn’t for you.

      Dann lass uns über Grammatik chatten!
      Was sind deine Gedanken über die Deutsche Grammatik - insbesondere über das Kasussystem, die Begleiter (welche sich stetig ändern bzw. anpassen, in Abhängigkeit an die jeweiligen Fälle), den (etwas verrufenen) "rauen" Ton der Deutschen Sprache, der gern einmal zum Thema in dem ein oder anderen Meme-Video über Sprachen wird?
      Ich meine, Deutsch ist ja schon ziemlich komplex und teilweise ganz schön einschüchternd, mit all seinen spezifischen und doch schon arg ausgetüftelten Konzepten in Expressionismus und Slang - besonders das Bayrische oder Ostdeutsche. Wie kamst du dazu, Deutsch zu lernen - oder bist du vielleicht nativ?
      So wirklich "flüssig" in einer Sprache zu sein, ist ja heutzutage eine Brüstung, die, in Zeiten des Internets und der stetig zunehmenden Oberflächlichkeit, nur allzuviele Lernende von sich geben, um ein wenig im Internet zu prahlen - aber sobald es dann ans Eingemachte geht, zeigt sich oft doch schon sehr schnell, wie viel wirklich dahinter steckt bzw. wie "flüssig" die kommunikativen und linguistischen Fähigkeiten desjenigen in Wirklichkeit sind.
      Ich bedanke mich für das Lesen meines Kommentars und bin sehr auf eine etwaige Interaktion gespannt!

    • @silvercrystal3
      @silvercrystal3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@milk-it That's, of course, totally comprehensible - as for myself, I'm merely able to speak two languages fluently (while currently aquiring a 3rd within 日本語!) - but, even though this doesn't seem like a lot, I'd rather prefer to reach a level of fluency within a language where I would always be skilled enough to be (theoretically) working as some sort of "literal teacher", who aims to shrink the gap of some massive language barriers constantly existing between the one and another (also within our quite insufficient school- and educational system) - simply in order to help (potential) students to intuitively grasp the deeper nuances of the language they would love to learn.
      This is especially critical between Western and Eastern languages like English/German and Japanese, which doesn't even consist of those more sophisticated grammatical concepts like "Present Perfect Continuous" - or even a mere "Future" tense; so the best way of getting close would be using "てきた" for the former while "ていく" for the latter, while there's of course always an unavoidable discrepancy in transition, since the syntactical gap between so fundamentally different languages is not as near as easy to bride, even for the best in their task - without at least something minor becoming lost on its way.
      But seeing and feeling the direct underlying parallels - though these languages being totally different at their cores - is what makes the deeper diving worthwhile in my eyes.
      And as you've claimed to have aqiured fluency in multiple languages, I was simply curious if you might have felt the same or a similar way.
      Thank you for your time!
      Danke für Deine Zeit!

    But, But I am subscribed. You are right, I fully watch every one of your videos as you know, cause they are brilliant. I remember some of these hits from back when you initially released them. Well you accomplish one of your travel goals that you mentioned in this video, since you and Tommy finally made it to Hawaii for a vacation. This less structured view of Japanese students showed that the same types of students are in every class, no matter where in world. Additional footage made everything new.

    Hi Anming, as someone who grew up in the generation where some or most of the family spent some time in Japan, i personally enjoy watching your videos...it really bothered me when i heard some of the things people write to you. Pondering on it, it all comes down to the simplest answer that they are so jealous that you are living the life you want and they are stuck. Enjoy life while you and your husband are child free. Travel, work and enjoy each other. I love languages, if i could have done this when i was young, well i dont know if i would have been brave enough. May Gods light shine upon you both. ❤

When I was in Japan as a teenager for a exchange programme, teens were alot more reserved and shy, just like my countrymen. Too bad none of wants to visit my country. But the people from my country would die to visit Japan. I hope you'd visit Singapore one day. Cheers
