Great great video! My first mini-PC was a 3050 and I scored a deal in that it had an i7-7700 CPU and 16gb ram (boosted to 32gb). The extra cores and threads helped a lot, as I was able to play many PS2 sports titles smooth at 2x, and Rogue Squadron for the GameCube at 1.5x with very little studder.
Brilliant. I used this to set it up on an old 500gb SSD and just booted into it on my existing pc. I had a few emulator on my pc originally, now I have cleared them out and just use my external SSD and have a tone of emulators. I see there is a PS4 emulator in development. A few games run on it but its still early. Sadly the PS3 emulator is a bit buggy still. I hope they don't abandon the development of it. Anyway. Thank you.
I hope you don't mind but I like to keep you up to date. I couldn't find a Dell Optiplex like you have so I found an HP G3 mini pc on Amazon. I have keyboards and mice so that isn't a problem. Slowly but surely I will have my own emulation system,
Great vid RGG.. another solution I did was to take a 7020 which has room for a low profile gpu (I used a RX 6400 from xfx), and make your own steamdeck like experience using ChimeraOS. You could also do this for a similar batocera build with more punch ;)
Just as a side note. PC is $131 when I ordered. Saw a week later for $119. So just keep your eyes peeled. Great tutorial. Thank you as always. Your channel is a real inspiration to all us retro gamers. If you don't mind me asking, your excellent build with all the bells and whistles with over 4000 games, how big is the hard drive you used? I would think maybe a 1 TB drive should do it. Is that right? Thanks.
Excellent video. You covered everything. I have a Batocera setup on a dell 3020 but I do like this small dells. 🤔 Batocera is very nice. One question. I like Batocera on the CRT. I guess I can go to VGA with an adapter
Not the dude but just a guy, I always say buy the largest drive you can afford. I have never been disappointed by having too much memory, but I have been sad when I didn’t and had to choose what to keep and offload. No matter what they say, size matters. This app doesn’t have the performance to handle newer roms, but if you want a hard drive you can move to a bigger, better build later, I say get a minimum 1tb or more if you can. But if it’s just gonna be a select retro emulator with your favorite games, the basic 256gb that is stock will be fine. If you have to upgrade, 512 gb SSD is good and super affordable.
An i5 7500 could work but you need a graphics card for the more demanding systems, I went with an i3 4360 with stock graphics, BIG MISTAKE, I can't even run PS2 without horrendous slowdown.
Followed your tutorial to the letter but the only difference is that I'm using a Dell laptop instead of a Dell Desktop. And I get a black screen after the Batocera Splash screen video has played. I guess this emulation scene is not for me!
I think batocera can be finicky with laptops due to igpu and dedicated video cards. I have no issues using it on any desktop, but could never get it to work on my laptop
Would these cheaper mini PCs be strong enough to run teknoparrot and Mario Kart GP DX? Trying to make my own arcade cabinet and I think this would be the way to go..
@RetroGamingGuy would you be willing to attempt it on one of your mini PCs? Probably asking too much, but figured I'd ask. No worries if not. Just noticed you did an arcade 1up mod and testing out the mini PCs.

@RetroGamingGuy I was having issues with getting the bios and rom files to properly transfer after clearing my hard drive and restarting several times it started to work. I don't know if it was user error or something with my software but it just wouldn't run properly for about a week

An Atari System 1 Indian Jones and the temple of doom in the background. I spent a ton on that game back in the day. Awesome arcade cabinet.

Hi, Great easy to follow videos, also by any chance do you have any videos on how to customize Batocera?
Depending on how low spec your pc is, turning off the game bezels can make a big difference in performance for low end pc’s
good idea.
This is the information i needed, Thanks 😁

Wow mines is coming in today too. Same specs too. I can use an external too. Let's go

Absolutely
I only used the internal ssd as a way to save money and show how you could use everything as it comes.
