It's worth mentioning that when scraping it is best to have your room file names be "clean" (removing "USA!! V1.2" etc). This will get a far better coverage of your games as the scraper may not identify the game correctly. I think the alternative to this is to change the meta data for each individual game. Changing the actual file names is a far quicker process overall if you have thousands of ROMs.
@@aloobi It shouldn't make a difference as long as you don't have the file names too confusing so that the scraper doesn't recognise what it is you're scraping.
@@calebOllerton I searched inside of each folder for different variations and deleted the ones i didn't want. It was VERY time consuming. Or you can download "clean" romsets without duplicates and hacks.
Thanks for a current batocera guide! You earned a sub. I’m going to put this on a 5TB external HDD. Going to run this on my gaming PC and my incoming GPD Win Max 2
That's a very good guide! It's worth pointing out that not all Wi-Fi dongles work, so you need to check with a compatibility list. I've had no problems with getting Batocera to work with 2 x PCIe expansion cards to USB 3.0 for an additional 8 x USB 3.0 devices (gaming controllers and hard drives work), but will only boot into Batocera from the motherboard's USB port.
I really wish Batocera would recognize multiple internal drives. I've got a 256gb ssd with Batocera and roms for older consoles, and a 500gb NVMe I had lying around that I installed in the PC with the intention of putting some larger game files on it (GameCube, PS2 etc). Batocera will recognize when I have an external HDD plugged in, and I can link the roms on that drive to the internal storage's 'share/roms' folder, and that works fine but then my mini PC has this extra appendage tethered to it. It would be nice if additional internal drives would show up in the file explorer. Bit of a bummer. Maybe a future update will fix this. Anyway, thanks for the vid :)
Batocera does recognise multiple internal hard drives you just need to format the second drive in Batoicera by using Main Menu > System Settings > Developer > Format a Disk. if you haven't already. Once the disk is formatted. Press F1 from the opening Batocera menu to bring up the file manager. On the left select places and you will see the new HDD. Default is Share (Batocera OS drive) and Share_1 etc for the newly formatted drive. I'm currently using a 1tb SATA SSD for Batocera OS and roms and a second 8tb SATA drive for more roms on a desktop computer. Both show up fine.
Great video as always. Ive got batocera on a hdd with games but i would like to copy the hdd to a ssd but im not confident enough to begin to know how and what to do it and what software to use as i don't want to mess it up. If you could would you do a easy to follow video on how to please.
I've also used a Windows 10 Bootable usb stick (Hiren’s BootCD PE x64 ) and Roadkil's Disk Image 1.6 software. To successfully burn the downloaded Batocera IMG file to an internal HDD/SSD without having to remove it from the computer.
That's really convenient. I was just using a sata ssd enclosure to avoid having to remove and install ssds lately. That would be another approach to take to make things a bit easier.
This is a nice guide, but the title is misleading. Everything in the tutorial was pre-existing. Changing the theme isn't really "creating your own image". It should just be called "how to set up Batocera v__".

I'm using an Acer Aspire ES13 laptop that is on Windows 10. This laptop can play the standalone Duck Station emulator for PS1 and run games no problem. Now I put RetroBat on my USB and it works fine. I'm just wondering why it hangs on Batocera.
I have a problem with controler. When i frist time start batocera, his connect and running normaly, but next time start to going crazy. Next thing, I tried to connect my computer with Tv, using hdmi cable from DP port (DP converter) to hdmi enter on my Tv so I can play a games on tv, but Batocera project freezing zooming picture from computer to Tv. Hdmi exit from my graphic card is directly connected with my hdmi input monitor, that is the reason why using DP port to connect with Tv. Is there any option to fix all this ??
the KinHank 12tb plug & play video game drive. If I turn a mini gaming pc into a Batocera console. How would I get the drive to run they only give the install instructions for window's. I am unable to find anything on how to set it up and run it on a Batocera pc/console. Does that mean I have to have a windows pc and have Batocera on a flash drive?
My batocera disk is bugged to hell. It manages to change time in windows -1 hour no matter the batocera settings i pick and this happens only if i used batocera , of the 84 systems it "forgot" that 18 systems are there too, 1 console has no picture anymore, while scrolling the games list it tends to make a shorter list of its own without me asking for it and some systems dont work even if i add the right roms to it. So now i get to backup all 1.66tb of game roms to a other disk and reinstall batocera right?
I have installed batocera in a USB pendrive. Everything works fine when I plug it in an old Laptop, Asus VivoBook s550ca (i7 8GB RAM). It happens with an XBOX One controller and with two Moga controllers, conecting via USB or Bluetooth. What GPU do you recommend to be able to play Switch, Xbox and PS2 games on the best? I'm looking into mini PCs for this and there's just so much to choose from.
I'm a big fan of NVidia myself I liek the GEFORCE options out there. You don't necessarily need one to play those games. PS2 you can make adjustments in your game settings to get through the games relatively well. Xbox isn't too demanding there's just a lot of emulation limits with that collection in general. Intel NUC is just a normal x86 desktop that's very very small. Almost the size of a Raspberry Pi. Nothing special about it except the size. Biggest limitation is unless your tech savy, get some custom hardware, and know what you're doing, you're not going to install a graphics card. What CPU and graphics you have on a NUC is what you get. Best thing to do is to make sure you have 2 sticks of RAM in it so your graphics hardware can go faster.
it will work. it is the same image. the 3 links mac,pc,nuc were added instead of just one to avoid question from people having mac and nuc asking which image they should download.

Amazon is flooded with fake hard drives, I dont know what it was like 2 years ago when this was made, but even buying samsung you gotta make sure youre buying from samsung or another reputable seller. There are more fake drives than real ones on amazon unfortunately. Either only a fraction of the storage (1 tb drive is actually 32gb for example, even though your computer "thinks" its 1tb. It just cobtinually overwrites the oldest data once the card limit is reached), or falsely advertised as 3.2, 3.1, or 3.0 usb when in reality its 2.0, the list goes on. And when you get drive like that, you have NO IDEA what may be pre-installed on tbe drive, it could easily have badUSB installed and run a script without you even knowing it.
Right that's how you create your batocera setup. Start with a batocera version add the games/collections you want. Add a theme. You customize it as you go.
none of this has anything to do with creating a build from scratch. this is just a howto for installing batocera. nothing here involved buildroot or pulling packages or anything like that. the image used here was already built.

Screen scraper official site?
How can you add emulator for Nintendo switch on Batocera?
To record batocera without programs.
1. 7zip
2. extract the .rar image from batocera.
3. extract the iso from Batocera
4. extract the iso 0.vfat
5. Copy and paste all files to FAT32 compatible for Batocera installation. End. ;)
If I do this will I still be able to use my PC regularly? Or will it boot automatically always to Batocera?
it will boot manually.
What’s the difference between Standard Laptop/Desktop vs All Intel Nuc? If I make one for my Nuc it won’t work on a standard desktop?
Never tried intel nuc so I'm not sure
Can I add that program to an se card
This the same steps for botacera 35?

Is batecera running on windows or Linux?
Linux
I dont get how this is creating a batocera image? Its a guide on how to install and add stuff like games and bios
Right that's how you create your batocera setup. Start with a batocera version add the games/collections you want. Add a theme. You customize it as you go.
This is identical to emuelec.
none of this has anything to do with creating a build from scratch. this is just a howto for installing batocera. nothing here involved buildroot or pulling packages or anything like that. the image used here was already built.
It's Batocera so you start with a Batocera image (version 35 here) and build it up from there with what games and game collections you want to have.
It is so bad i have only 4 emulator on batocera secreen. In youtu.be meny emulator on secreen bro...
Add ROM files for different emulators and refresh roms in batocera settings. And you will see those emulators apear in user interface.
this isnt building an image. this is writing an image.
