UPDATE: I'm happy to report that Jilly has completed rehab and has had a steady job in retail for almost 6 months. She even gets to see her kids on weekends again. We're all pullin for ya Jilly!

Herb the best one tho… all the others were better suited for Claypools other bands, but Herb is perfect for primus. Jay in frog brigade, brain in c2b3 and herb in primus… tbh I like Jay lane as a better more than Herb but his drumming in his primus albums is so mediocre compared to Herb

Imma black metaller and I approve of this message. Fan since going into a record store and buying a cassette copy of "Suck On This" in '89 not long after its release on a whim as I had read (in Thrasher Mag, as I recall) Larry LaLonde (ex-Possessed guitarist) and Les Claypool (who produced Suicidal Tendencies "Join The Army") were in the band. It was certainly a much different animal than Possessed, the originators of the term "Death Metal". Member record stores, print magazines, & cassettes? Member berries... 😅

They can have largely nonsense, inconsequential lyrics, and still put off that dark vibe better than most anybody. Probably more convincing because of the lyrics, really. I dunno if its just to show off their capabilities, in regards to the darkness, or......... I dunno.

Les is amazing, let's not forget that he needs just as brilliant musicians to play with, primus have (as a band) and always been top grade musicians in their own right, regardless of what drummer is on what album, they are all equally talented dudes.

I'm an old man. I played guitar in old loud bar bands for a long time. Somehow, by the grace of God, I missed the drugs altogether. I saw up close though, what it did to people. This song, is a dark, brilliantly played, reminder to people of what can happen. You get on that mess, you're OWNED. Say no to drugs. Say yes to Jesus.

2:10 - the mood that the bassline puts me in is hypnotizing. I find myself listening to this song 3 or 4 times in a row.....and because Jay Lane freakin kills it. But I digress...the bassline is godly; love the guitar texture as well.
Jay is the shit. Those rolls across the toms, and the subsequent return to the hi hat, are sublime.....

Les is a legend! I saw this man at Lollapalooza '93 in Phoenix. In August. It was 120 in the shade and this man is rocking the pig suit and not skipping a beat for an hourlong set in front of thousands of sweaty teenagers. He defies the laws of tradition.

Saw them for the first time a week ago and my ears have been awake. For the first time in 25 years. I have been a huge electro fan all my life. What have I been missing!!!! I am absolutely stunned. And I will never come back from.my trip last week. They are absolutely deliciously insane.

Every time I see Primus I cant help but compare them to Rush. A 3 piece band with a multitalented bassist/vocalist as the heart and soul of the band, a fantastic drummer, and a criminally underrated guitarist. Not to mention they both show just how big of a sound you can get with just 3 members, its truly impressive. Rush and Primus are in completely different categories across the board but both deserve to be remembered in the future in the same way we look back on Mozart and Bach

I loved this, totally new to me..... that cello like instrument was fab, player was so clever! as an interested oldie (71) I am loving this intro to lots of so much different music....
The singer, Les Claypool, created that instrument (called a Whamola. Check out his song called "Whamola", on the Purple Onion album, for a proper schooling on the subject).

When I was young.. I heard Fizzle fry at a party.. The next day I went out and bought three Primus albums at Tower Records... Been my favorite band ever since.
Primus are amongst the greatest talented musicians that ever created music, period. Up there with Floyd, And Tool but in their own way. I don’t know how they continue to do it so damn well after 35+ years. It’s a lot of tough work to be continually creative and good. All 3 of them are brilliant!

One thing you can say about Primus is that you always know them from the beginning of any of their songs because there's nobody that sounds anything like them.
They were a band for 22+ years at this point. That's amazing.
Primus started in 1984, and I believe they released their debut album in '88 or something like that...
So they've been going on for more than 35 years now !

Such a sick opening drum fill and solid playing right through. Les overshadows the others as he's the character in primus but the others are awesome musicians. Recognise!
I was up front at this concert. One of the best concerts of my life. During Jerry Was A Racecar Driver, they had the air force para-surf in with lights all over them. The sky was pitch black and all you could see was the flashing lights everywhere. Amazing experience. Lez came out with this creepy bear mask on and also everyone at Bonnaroo was going around singing Jilly's on smack all night long. They were one of the tightest bands I've ever seen live. Everything was spot on.
This is one of those songs you have to watch being played to really appreciate

Magical experience. Guitarist worked his ass off on this one. Lots of memory mastery on that board & constant cycling between them. The lead in on drums @6:17is disgustingly good - as is 2:55. Tight like my wife. Excellent high hat mutes. The drum silence before that fill crushes that last verse. Need not mention the legend himself.
