Les Claypool is still my favorite artist after a few decades. He rocks!
Best Primus trio… the brain their best drummer by far and one of my faves!
Les is awesome in all his glory but let's take a moment and listen, this drummer is freaking awesome!
Those drums sound amazing as well.
Herb always kills it
Yellow Belly That’s Brain, not Herb
Brain who plays w Buckethead....
Not lane?
All the band is awesome
Pure talent and energy
One of the most talented bands ever.love em.
Brain is a beast. That is his jelly bean vistalite kit used on the brown album. Well part of it. Think he added a few other toms here.
@Jessy Lee not even close. Tim has got him by a longshot.
Brain>Herb
They are both amazing for their own reasons and Primus wouldn’t be who they are without either of them so it’s pointless to argue.
Brain is a basher, all macho brawn and no finesse. Primus went badly downhill after he joined, their sound went way too metallic..
Herb
Awesome post man.. Thank you. Forgot how bad ass these boys play. And I've seen them 3x
Is that Brain on drums hell yeah it is
No doubt that Herb is an absolute monster, but I always dug the way Brain brought his own vibe to these songs.
I love how the brown album sounds, specially the drums.
jay lane is better
That Tommy The Cat performance was amazing.
Wow. Unbelievable content. Thanks so much for posting this amazing piece of history. Speechless....
Brain is such a talented drummer. Nails every single odd rest with ease.
thanks for uploading this,simply awesome
These guys are so chill, down to earth, cool. Great band!
22:20 that dude just doesnt know how to rock out
Haha The face that guy was making is classic
JONNY SLASH I l0lled so badly hahahahaha
LOLLL nice.
xDD damn blue-collar tweeker
JAJAJAJAJAJAJAJA
The bass is so good at 39:05 that even Brain has bass face. lol
He's lovin it ! 😂
Re-posting set list to bring it to the top. Thanks to @tulasigopinath for this set list!

41:22 Tommy The Cat (Part II)
Clearest live footage of Les's hands I've seen, nice to be able to try to see his techniques and how some of the songs are really played. Too bad that crowd is so dead! :P
They moshed to every strum of the bass at my concert recently :)
I feel like Jay Lane and Herb have a very similar style of drumming and Brain is very different from the two of them, style-wise, so I was very interested how some of the classics sounded with Brain on drums. And he kills it! I like how he makes them his own and doesn’t try to just mimic the parts on the albums. Good shit!
Wow does Ler attack the first solo of Tommy the Cat, so clean and precise with a kicking groove. Genius playing.
Lady: what are you wearing Les from Primus?
Les: Uh, khakis
Michael, what can I say but nice! Made my day. State farm totally needs to sign up primus for their as campaigns.
He sounds hideous
critical of onions Ok you made me spit out my beer! 👏😂
Well done sir !!! Had me laughing
LOL... the drummer rockin' the black Staccato toms on his left!
I used to play those... good Canadian made drums!
That's Bryan 'Brain' Mantia. Solid drummer. Not top tier, but great!
pretty sure theyr'e North drums
Loved Brain in GN'R.
this video is special to me. I watched it on TV 6 days later.
It was the night i discovered Primus. i ran to grab a tape to record it on VHS (but only recorded the sound. VHS days, you know...). been a lifelong fan ever since.
pretty awesome to be able to rewatch it!
Ler is such an underrated guitarist...just WRITING a song to Les' basslines/melodies would be extremely difficult.
His scales are crazy that he chooses
Unfortunately, no one here actually writes. This has been the problem with Primus.
i saw them live in 96 in a small music place they played for almost three hrs it was the best show i ever seen and being from austin tx that says a lot even got to party with the band they are something else and triping i could not stop laughing i also got to party with gibby, maynard, and singer from mistery and even stevie ray it feels great to had that change when you are only 14 yrs old

Ever hear of a period?
I was talking to rachel bone, guy. And I was referring to the punctuation, not the menstrual cycle.
definitely my favorite live performance of this band in youtube. Props to the sound guy. Excellent performance and sound.
Primus sucks!
Una maravilla este trío...suenan por 6 músicos...
Tim Alexander is a freak on the drums! Always loved the style of his playing! Playing with Les gives you so many ideas on the kit!
@@johnmcclure1643 this is Brian Mantia though. Tim is my favorite as well nonetheless
This nerdy-ass/Wally Cleaver look is by far my favorite version of Les, and it was rather short lived. You gotta love it when you can mistake a heavy metal virtuoso for your kid's Sunday School teacher. Makes it all the more SICK!
I'm late to your comment, but he looks like a homie to me.
(Chicano gangster)
I have only heard the name primus.
This video is the first time I ever heard them.
I did alot of time in my past.
These guys put out alot of sound for 3 guy's.
Man, Primus was firing on all cylinders that night.
I saw them in a small club in California in 97....this set is awesome....all great songs....great memories...🤘
christian bale is good on bass...lol
You mean Edward Norton?
Christian bale was his replacement that show
Norm macdonald can slap the bass man!
Shia Leboeuf
Hollywood is in your mind
this is like 3 musicians who can all play their instruments, got together and said, 'let's just play our parts and see if it fits.'
And it works lol
3 INCREDIBLE musicians!!
22:23 guy was on some good stuff
just looks like a normal european
he was on primus
Hahaha !!!!
35:05 - "Said Tommy the cat as he herblesherbler into his mighty throat!"
XD nice Les
