    I need recommendations. I am a student and a teacher looking for a laptop. It will mostly be used for schoolwork and lesson planning and I also want to carry it around. I like the two in one laptop. Maybe I’ll share it with my 5yr old to use as a tablet just until I buy him one for his own. Do you think this is a good choice?

    all laptops have sufficient cpu if it is 8gb ram at least for normal use.... just be sure to buy an small ssd for usb 3.0 port that is 1 tb if you use alot of data like videos maybe music... in hollland lenovo sells a amd ryzen 7 12 gb ram and 1 tb of ssd for 714 euros which is pretty cheap for these days as it can run most windows games....

    You left out Linux. I have an old Dell Inspiron 15-5567 (i7 with 2 cores ). It got so slow using Windows 10 that I tried out Linux Mint on a bootable flash drive. Linux Mint found my WiFi, allowed me to log in, found my HP Officejet 8610 and allowed me to print and scan right away. Linux Mint comes with comes with a full set of very usable apps, including Firefox, Thunderbird Mail, Libre Office and complete set of utilities and it is free to install. Linux Mint worked so good and fast, I created a dual boot. When I use Linux Mint there is a simple interface much like Windows 7, it is intuitive and every thing works. When ever I boot back to Windows 10, I am quickly reminded why I tried Linux. Windows is so busy doing it's own thing that for hours it is not usable. Maybe if my laptop had 8 cores Windows would allow me to use one of the cores. On the other hand Linux Mint is very manageable and intuitive to use and allows you to update when you want. Linux Mint has a "Software Manager" for getting all kinds of new Linux apps and a "Update Manager" to keep the OS and installed apps up to date. It allows you to choose from a list what to you want to update and then it does it much faster than Windows.
    -->I am going to buy a new laptop with a i7 or Ryzen 7 CPU (at least 8-cores), 16 GB of RAM and a good GPU. I am looking for a 16" laptop that is easy to take apart, get parts for and easy to repair. Am looking at Dell, HP and Asus.

      I understand what you're saying, but the vast majority of people buying laptops have absolutely no idea what Linux is nor do most people care to learn about it. That's one of the many reasons why you don't see laptops or desktop PCs with Linux pre-installed on the vast majority of PCs sold in-store. You'll have plenty of people that can learn it quickly, but at the same time, you will have people who simply cannot adapt to a completely different operating system, no matter how simplified and user-friendly it is.

    Difference between memory and storage??

    • @JJFlores197
      @JJFlores197 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are different types of memory. In general, when we say memory, we refer to system memory or RAM. RAM is Random Access Memory. It is what we call as temporary storage. When you open a program or even power on your computer, parts of the program are copied from main storage to RAM. This is because the CPU needs to have quick access to the data to process it. We say it is temporary storage because when you close the program or turn off your PC, anything that's stored in RAM is lost permanently.
      That's why we have permanent storage like hard drives, solid state drives and USB drives. Practically all computers from the past 30 years have a hard drive (or SSD in newer computers). This is permanent storage where things like the operating system are stored as well as your documents and files and programs and anything else you have saved on your computer.
