    Such a great video Ricer, another fantastic, and fun edit! I really enjoyed As they were unloading it off the truck, and the "thank you, good job" to your wife, lol! There is no doubt that is a beast of a cooker, and I'm really excited to throw down some chow on it! I cannot wait to see what you cook up on it brother! Again, great job, and cheers! Also, your kid wearing Mountain Dew boxes as snowshoes was GOLD! Haha! and thank you for the shout out buddy!

    I had a pit boss at one time and sold it when I got my OKJ rider deluxe. It was nice except it wasn’t upgraded like that 1600 is. I had to remove a grate to open the sear function and it wasn’t tall enough to do beer can chicken. I love that rack hanger they added and the griddle is awesome. And the bar to open the seat plate is a no brainer for me. Can’t wait to see what you smoke on it

    Hey everyone I pick up my PB1600 last week and have cooked on it a few times. I'm not sure if I want to keep it for almost $1000. I have noticed that there is big temp different on the grill vs the system temp probe. I had it set to 250 and the main grill was not getting above 210. I also asked PB about the upgrade on the controller they said it not getting an update anytime soon. I don't know if anyone else has one or the same issues. I'm thinking of one of the other brands.

    • @DeadBrokeBBQ
      @DeadBrokeBBQ  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have heard they are getting close to the firmware update. I have had the same issue but around 30 degrees. I can manage that and once they get this update going I am certainly sending this controller in. Now I can say it has ran pretty efficient but I want more temp settings and get it to hang closer to what I set it at. There is always a difference in every cooker from the main probe to the grate temp so knowing that difference is the most important step. The best and most accurate cooker I have right now is the Pellet Pro 1190, it is in the single digits but that pit costs more than the 1600. I did a 2 brisket and 3 racks of ribs cook yesterday on the 1600 and I just ran the temp at 300 and I was able to cook around 270. IMO I would hang on to it until you are on the last day of returning it. Because this pit will be the go to for most once they get these few they released early adjusted. Thanks for the info brother!!

      @terrencem4151 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DeadBrokeBBQ
      Thank you for your reply, yes I know the difference with the main probe and actual grill temp I have had an old Louisiana cs700 grill. Well is good to know I'm not the only one with the problems with it. I was hoping it was not a defective unit. Thanks for sharing the news about the update, PB didn't share with me anything except there prewritten stuff. It's a good chunk of $$ to spend on something that's not up to par but I will give it some more time since I have 90 days to return it. Thank you again for your help and I am new to your channel and definitely liking the videos you have up! Have a great day.

    Excellent video Ricer! Does that Pit Boss have a PID controller?

    • @DeadBrokeBBQ
      @DeadBrokeBBQ  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes Mike it does have a PID controller but I read that there is a firmware update for it that will provide more options on the smoking temps!!! I can say from running it now that it holds pretty dang good but this current controller took a while to get up to temp. So soon I will be pulling this controller out and getting the update!! Thanks for watching brother!

    • @DeadBrokeBBQ

      Nope I will run it for a bit and then send in the controller for the update. I figured it wouldn't have it in one this one yet. All good!! I just need to know what temp it is running at really and I can get a couple cooks off it!!! Thanks for watching!!

    Thinking about getting one... do these rust as much as say, A char broil grill? Or is pit boss a reliable company

    • @DeadBrokeBBQ
      @DeadBrokeBBQ  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well they all rust eventually but as long as you keep them clean and covered after use it will take a while to rust. Mine are treated like cars because they are kept in the garage. But they will not rust up like a char broil. Thanks for watching!

    Looking at getting my first pellet grill. would you recommend the 1600 over the rider dlx ? Just wondering what your honest opinion is

    • @DeadBrokeBBQ
      @DeadBrokeBBQ  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would certainly buy either the 1150 or the 1600 over the DLX. These new pro series models are a lot better than the DLX. I hope OK Joe comes out with e Gen 2 someday soon. But that controller is not a PID and it just doesn’t run as good as the new PB models.

    Dude! I'm green with envy! I bought the 1500 pro in November and now I want the 1600. However the cost is too high as I would end up divorced! I love the 3 levels and the griddle. Will the griddle fit the 1500 Pro? How was the SMOKE-IT app? I find the range weak with the 1500. My wi-fi is good but the range is only about 15' with this app. I might as well just hang out by the grill.

    • @DeadBrokeBBQ
      @DeadBrokeBBQ  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi John!! Ya this thing is pretty big for sure! I am not sure about the griddle but the back of the pipe is squared off so probably not?!?!?! I honestly haven't setup the WiFI on this pit yet because rumor has it that there is going to be a firmware update on it and that means you have to send the controller in to them. Again "rumor" so once I get the word from Pit Boss I will certainly let everyone know in a video!! I did do the burn off on it last night and it ran pretty good for only being 12° out!!! I hope to have that video up by Monday!!! ha ha Yes keep the wife bro, WAY cheaper in the long run!! hahaha Thanks for watching!!

  • @jaycharles9548
    @jaycharles9548 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This grill needs two things. #1 who would get a smoker that can’t set at 275 ? It needs the new digital temperature setting. #2 It needs the curved metal plate modification installed beside the temperature probe to prevent the temperature swings. Once both of these are done THEN I’ll run out and buy one.

    • @DeadBrokeBBQ
      @DeadBrokeBBQ  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya Jay I agree and rumor has it that they is going to be a firmware update to it and that might give it at least a 270° or 280°. So moving in the right direction!! I just did the Burn Off on it and is held temps pretty good even if it is only 12° out today here. Now I will say it took longer than expected to get up to temp but under the circumstances it did a pretty good job! Thanks for watching and hopefully I get more news as I do more videos using it!!!
