  • I just got my Pit Boss Pro Series 1600 the other day, so I thought I would put together a video of my initial review, as well as a video of the burn in. I waited until shooting this video to fire up the Pit Boss Pro Series 1600, because I wanted to catch it on video so you guys could witness the operation during the burn in process. My overall intial review is it is a beautiful cooker, and I am absolutely looking forward to getting some cooking videos uploaded in the next few weeks! If you guys enjoy this video, please be sure to SUBSCRIBE to my channel, and hit that like button. I truly would appreciate it! And as alway, if you have any questions, drop me a comment below!

    I will say this about the smoker I have had it for about 6 months 6 months my control board went out. Which was causing it to have a extremely long heat up process. But other than that it is an overall good smoker with what I think is the best warranty you can get. They will handle your problems with no problems.

    Also , I’ve seen people modifying their grills with a curved piece of metal added right beside the temperature probe to help stabilize the heat and read outs. Does this grill need that modification added ?

    Thank you for replying to my first comment. Another question for you, when you tapped the knob in the S popped up and you said that it was ready for smoke, in the manual it says that it's ready to set a recipe. Can you clarify that please? Is there a smoke mode for this versus just a regular grilling mode

    • @AshKickinBBQ
      @AshKickinBBQ  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah the S means it’s in smoke mode, which it will usually run between 160-180° on that setting. If you want to cook at higher temps, adjust your temperature accordingly. Sometimes for jerky or salmon I run in smoke mode only. Other folks like to run in smoke mode for an hour or two on big meats and then set the temp to 225, 250, 300, etc. I don’t use the recipe mode, so I cannot comment on that.

      I think I've answered my own question but please let me know if I'm right. If you tap the knob you can put it into recipe setting which displays as an S. Also, if you turn the knob on the temperature mode all the way down it will do the same thing showing an S but that puts it into smoke mode

    Great review! I’m in the market for a Pit Boss and trying to decide if I want to take advantage of the outstanding low prices I’m seeing right now on the Austin XL or just jump right in to the Pro 1600 here. I was hoping you might cover the hot and cold spots on this one to see if they improved it from the Austin XL but I’m about to be searching your channel to see if you did it in another video. If not, would you mind covering that subject for us? I know there is an upgrade for the issue in the Austin XL’s but if this one has the same problem then there likely hasn’t been a plate made for it yet. Thanks again and keep up the great work!
