Colin looked so pleased with himself when he was talking to Anthony and Benedict about things happening _swiftly_ with Penelope. Like, his face was all 😏.
The 'swiftly' scene doesn't have to wait for anything else to happen, he already compromised her "honor" in the carriage, and frankly, by kissing her in the garden, he technically had compromised her then, first. What I love about the scene is that Anthony immediately reacts protectively of Pen. He's ready to fight as if she were one of his sisters, until Benedict asks him if he's going to duel his own brother for besmirching Pen's honor! It shows just how much the whole family cares for Pen, especially with the joyful reaction of the whole family (except Eloise) and you could tell how much Violet's hug meant to Pen. It's clear Pen's never been given a lot of affection at home, and the Bridgertons represent all the love and warmth that she craves and deserves.
Anthony and Benedict basically saying, _”you better treat her right, or it’s pistols at dawn!”_ Definitely gave my younger brother the exact same talk on his wedding day. 😂 Also yeah… Violet hugging Pen and her looking like she was almost about to cry. That was simultaneously tragic and beautiful. Especially after she told Colin in part 1 that Sunday Tea with the Bridgertons was her most comfortable memory. 😔
“He better have washed his hands” SCREAMING I DIDNT EVEN THINK OF THAT, AND YOU CAN SEE HIM CLAPPING HIS FAMILY MEMBERS ON THE SHOULDER IN THAT SCENE TOO 😭 COLINNNNN
Tell me why, not only the line itself, but Luke Newton's delivery on, "Then what good am I to you?" is on constant loop in my head? I've already SEEN the trailer before watching this video, but even just now seeing it again I'm crying. They could never make me hate Colin I'm so serious.
2:47 Has anyone noticed 👀 when Pen & Colin kiss whilst she's wearing her green undercover Whistledown coat ? 😂 No matter how angry he is catching her in the act, they kiss anyway 😂
Anger filled kiss, I predict he's only going to be so angry with her because she never told him and he's always thought they were CLOSE enough for her to tell him anything... I think that's why he'll be angry.
In terms of Pen's saying that "Whistledown is power!" is about the fact that with her Lady Whistledown she has the ability to be heard and to influence those around her. The main problem I've heard people have with Penelope seems to be that they think she should simply tell people around them rather than using Whistledown to say it for her. The problem is though, in most cases she has in fact tried to speak to the people involved in each situation but her voice goes unheard, it's as though she's not been heard. For Pen when she speaks it's like screaming into the void. Utterly pointless, but people do listen to Lady Whistledown, they are impacted and influenced by her. This I believe is the power she speaks of. It's almost a little like the novel turned into movies and series 'The Scarlet Pimpernel' created by Baroness Orczy and considered by even Stan Lee as the first Superhero as he had a secret identity that only a few knew of. I wonder if this has influenced the original writer and the writers of this season and previous seasons. I wonder if it will be only a few who will end up believing that Penelope is Whistledown so that her column can continue, but her secret identity protected.
I find all of your takes fascinating here!! Pen definitely is braver and more herself when writing - which in turn has a reaction from the ton that mirrors respect! Whereas, when she’s being “Penelope Featherington” she struggles to capture attention and in turn, power 👏🏽👏🏽 I can’t wait for her to find a balance between being herself in all forms ♥️
@@justravs Very much so. I actually think that's where she'll get to by the end of this season. That said I think both Colin and Eloise both actually need to realise that neither of them in fact did listen to her when she tried to speak to them about the situations she eventually wrote about. I know people say Eloise and Penelope were best friends, but the reality is that Eloise didn't really know Penelope that well, she knew hardly anything about her hopes and dreams. She was shocked when she discovered Penelope wanted to get married. She just assumed Penelope had the same views as her and often wouldn't actually listen to Penelope when she has tried to share, because she's been so concerned about discovering Lady Whistledown's identity. I think when Penelope can see she's finally going to be listened to as herself it will give her confidence to be her true self in society and those who are closest to her. I honestly think there's going to be lots of apologies happening as things finally get worked through as the truth is gradually uncovered in this next season. It's going to be a difficult road to get there but they'll make it. As did Anthony and Kate, and also Simon and Daphne.
At the "Whistledown is power" snip, I think someone theorized back in IG (when stills from part 2 are being leaked) that Eloise somehow got in trouble-one with Cressida-and Pen has to use the column to help her. I am really rooting for a PenxEloise reconciliation and a show of power from Pen thru Whistledown. Somehow, I'm also feeling that the Queen would be rather impressed than offended when she discovers the truth.
I love your reaction videos. The scence with Pen and her mom is so sad as you know some women even today give up their dreams. What was Portia's dream she gave up, I wonder. The scene with Colin saying "then what goid am I" is going to kill me.
I just found your channel and I love your reactions. One thing I’m really hoping to see is Violet being a mom to Pen in part II. It feels like she could use one that understands her better. Violet’s face when she hugs Pen gives me hope. Also, I totally agree with you about El. It may be frustrating but it’s right
My whole feelings about Eloise at this point are wondering how much is she doing all this to protect Colin and her family and then, how much is this about the fact she's still mad at Penelope, and I'll say it: I think Eloise is low-key jealous of her and what she's managed to build for herself, all on her own with Lady Whistledown.
Eloise is witty and intelligent, but she’s also pretty emotionally immature, and frankly a bad friend at times. In season 1 she wouldn’t shut up about Whistledown to the point that Pen was like, “some of us have actual problems!” And then this season in the library with Cressida, “sounds like German literature, ho ho!” Like, “I’m glad my life about to turn into a living nightmare is hilarious to you… thanks.” I don’t think she’s wrong to insist that Pen tell her brother, to be fully open and honest with him. I do think that’s right in and of itself, but I agree with you that her reasoning is partly out of holding on to their feud, and as you say, jealousy that Pen is actually living this independent life with personal agency that Eloise is always ranting about. But also Pen holding on to Whistledown and initially refusing to tell him, even though it’s the right thing to do - partly because it’s empowering! - feels very similar. Like, they’re both going on parallel emotional journeys.
@@ltdowney I agree that Pen should be the one to tell Colin about Lady Whistledown, rather than him finding out from the rest of the ton, which seems like what is going to happen, as someone who didn’t read the books, I do want some acknowledgment on both Eloise and Colin’s part as to why she created Whistledown in the first place. She’s been the matriarch of her family, keeping them together and financially above water for so long while Eloise and her family are for all appearances, very financially secure. Did Pen put her ambition before her relationship with the Bridgerton’s? Yes. But this is also a time where women were expected to have no ambition and live only for their spouses and their children. Unfortunately, I feel like, while I believe Eloise and Pen had, for the most part a good friendship, and Pen really does love Colin, and they both care about her in turn; both of these relationships feel very conditional on Eloise and Colin’s parts. Eloise wants a friend to bounce off her ideas and lofty ambitions, even Cressida called her out with how two-faced she’s been acting. And then, Colin, given the time period I imagine, he wants to be the one to take care of Pen rather than having an equal partnership or her having her own skills or ambitions. But it just seems Eloise, and props to the actress for pulling this off, is taking a really twisted sense of glee out of Penelope’s dilemma.
I think by now everyone knows, there is nothing to react to. They had 16% of a screen time throughout 8 episodes. It's horribly written and hard to watch. I had a feeling she won't upload the 5-8 episodes, and I completely understand why.
@@nika-pt2pl unpopular opinion but for the most part I liked it (as a big book fan). Part one was definitely better and releasing the whole season at once would have been a better decision. But I completely understand why others dislike it. Personal opinion I guess. 😊
@MaysLee I love them so much that I hated how little screen time they had and I hated how some scenes could be little bit better. That's the only thing that made me 😢

5:02 "That ring" is nearly identical to Violet's betrothal ring from last season. We saw it when Anthony asked her for it and when he proposed to Kate! I am curious if, now that Kanthony are married, the "family heirloom" is available for the other siblings to use? I’m curious about Cressida’s storyline for the next part because she wasn’t very present in the trailer I’m also kind of frustrated with the change about Colin knowing about whistledown after the engagement because in the book he did know and he still fully knew her right before they got together
Like you, I am sooo tense, nervous and scared for that scene (@ 5:22) you mention/show as I am quite terrified that Colin may not find out about LW until AFTER they are married? Nobody should say anything against Eloise. She is right in this situation. I would do the exact same thing. I would give an ultimatum. If that secret comes out and they are already married, it could ruin him along with her. That is something that he should decide for himself before getting married. I love Pen, but she keeps going about this in the worst way possible, thinking she can decide for everyone around her.
Oh and also, Penelope letting her family know about the engagement through Lady Whistledown 😂😂😂 Iconic
I love that, honestly. Didn't give them an opportunity to say she's lying. Whistledown's word is law, so nobody can question this news.
And the fact that Colins family love her more than her own - the Featheringtons don't deserve to know it first hand
