I have it and love it. Been playing with it for a week. Initial impressions are that I actually agree with this review. The paddle provides ample power, but it's not so powerful that it lacks control. I tried the Selkirk Power Air Invikta and that, to me, is a paddle that is all power and very little control. It takes an immense amount of concentration to hit with control with the Invikta Power Air and I found the paddle to be incredibly unforgiving with a minute sweet spot. This paddle is definitely NOT that, and that's what I think the reviewer means. The paddle allows you to impart both power and spin with little effort, but I found the ability to control the ball on touch shots to be excellent from the first hit. I don't agree with the comment on the size of the sweet spot. I find it to be ample and much better than other thin profile paddles. It's practically massive compared with the Joola Hyperion and as I said blows away the Power Air Invikta. After about 2-3 weeks it should be effortless. I have played the Paddletek Tempest Reign Pro for several years which is among the most forgiving combined power/control paddles out there. I switched to take advantage of the Kinetic technology due to a severe biceps tendon injury. There will never be a substitute for a 16 mm paddle in terms of control, but this is as good as it gets for a thin paddle and I'm playing without pain for the first time in about 3 months. The fit and finish of this paddle are tops. The quality in workmanship is awesome...much better in my experience than any other brand that I have used including my beloved Paddletek, Joola, Engage, etc...which often come stock with loose edge guards. This paddle is rock solid from a manufacturing perspective. Hope that helps.
Thankyou for your response i hit the pro flight and love it, considering this paddel but was nervous about control.I feel better about it , have you hit the pro flight and how do they compare ? thankyou just dont want to waste $250
Really interesting comments…I started with the tempest pro which I loved , now a couple of crbn paddles latte that I love, I have tennis elbow…..a local pro here said to try the black ace….I can’t get a handle on their paddles…is this the one you suggest (thin) ? Or has there been a new one since this. It doesn’t seem to be a very popular paddle…few reviews.
Love my Ace. I am still adjusting on how to strike the ball on dinks. The pop off the face takes some getting used to for sure. I use a ping pong grip so flex in blocking is not an issue for me.
Thanks for the review. The hitting portion of the video had the two paddles I'm most tempted to try - the Black Ace and the Selkirk Power Air! I did recently get the Ovation Flight, so I'm especially curious how that one compares with the Black Ace. As another commenter noted, ProKennex market this as more of a power paddle, so I did find that a little surprising in your review.I also have a Gearbox GX14H and am looking for a paddle with more pop and better in singles. That decal though...?!
Nice review. I like that you do reviews of more uncommon paddles, although you do some of the more popular paddles as well. I enjoy the format. I'd like to see you do a review of the new Ektelon paddles. I'm trying the 16mm version, which is a departure for me, since I tend to like thinner, power paddles. But I've really enjoyed the Ektelon Inferno. I'd be interested to see what you think of it.
most of your reviews sound exactly the same. How about a comparison with other paddles? It has alot of spin... compared to what? You say it isn't a power paddle, but I think prokennex says it is their most powerful ever, so where does it fall within the power paddle category?
very neat, i hope more companies start releasing carbon fiber faced paddles at lower prices, this one is still out of my price range. Have you thought about giving the Combat Dagger Carbon Fibre a look? a canadian made carbon faced paddle for a decent price.
I am shocked you. Did not call this a power paddle. It has huge power. That does not mean it lacks control. In fact it has a great combo of power and touch. The sweet spot is larger and the paddle provides better spin than their past paddles. I am also shocked about what you said about fliers. If your attempt a swinging topspin volley and do not get enough brush up on the ball, it will fly. That is what happens with a power paddle. I use this paddle and know what I am talking about!!!
In comparison to.....the Selkirk 002, Selkirk Power Air, Gearbox GX6...it is not pure power. It is the best Pro Kennex power paddle for certain. Yes, you can get flyers with any paddle. I agree. It does have excellent spin. It's a fun paddle to hit for sure. Thank you for watching!
This reviewer is no suited to do reviews. Is he selling the paddle or trying to scare people away? He keeps using the word “harsh”. That’s an exaggerated negative. I have a Kenetic Ovation which is similar to this Black Ace paddle and also made by ProKennex. No paddle is perfect for everyone and can be very different. ProKennex makes durable excellent paddles.
Perhaps the most clueless paddle review I have ever seen. I play with this paddle! I am a PPR certified instructor and former tennis pro. I know what I am talking about. This “is” a power paddle. With a power paddle you may get some hot fliers. That is one of the trade offs. For a power paddle, the sweet spot is very large. It is larger than the latest Selkirk power paddles. The spin is wonderful. This helps control some of the possible “hot fliers”. You can add extra topspin with this paddle. I added some lead tapes and this really helped with control and re-sets. This review is clueless. He seems to have no idea what he is talking about. He throws around buzz words and tries too pass that off for a well thought out review. If I had not seen tape of him playing, I would have questioned if he had ever used the paddle. The guy really has no business on TH-cam doing paddle reviews. It is painfully obvious he has very little knowledge of Pickleball!!!
lol...you agreed with everything I said. Thank you! It is the most powerful Pro Kennex paddle. It is not....say....a power paddle along the lines of the Selkirk 002 or Gearbox GX6. But it does have nice pop! The spin is outstanding! I added some lead tape as well to help with stability. Thank you for watching!

It IS the most powerful Pro Kennex.....so that is true. The Selkirk Power Air is a good paddle as well! Thank you for watching!

I might do that one. I recall looking at it......but haven't gone any further. Thank you for watching!
Great video! Would you recommend adding lead tape anywhere on the paddle? Or do you like better as is?

It is the most powerful Pro Kennex paddle. So they are correct. I will do some comparison videos the first of the year. Thank you for watching!

Interesting! I will check it out! Thank you for watching!
What are the spin rates

Based on your review it sounds like it’s the same paddle as my pro flight have you hit both ? Thankyou
I have hit all the Pro Kennex paddle including the new "Spin" paddles. This is the best Pro Kennex. It has the same....dinkability....with extra pop.
@@famousbyfridaypickleball9393 thankyou

Reccomend adding lead tape to the top, bottom or both?
