I used to think that the crown recipe deserved the ott cookies but after hearing this recipe I don’t know who to choose, both are insane
The sound projection is what makes the difference. Cadets played more technical work with longer phrases, more difficult drill and in more difficult keys but none of those would have pushed them over Crown if they weren't straight up louder than anyone else.
@@declandougan7243 just relistenes to both shows finals recordings after seeing your comment and it is clear that cadets were definitely louder lol, crown had better low brass for sure, but cadets high brass was on crack the whole time
@@brandonmathis1892 Another subtlety to note is that the cadets stage their low brass backfield most of the time, whereas crown does not. In lot videos, you can hear that the cadets' low brass has really heavy airflow too.

@@cjags1232 That just means they peaked early. Their show was too hard for them visually, so it was never really clean even at finals. The weird number of instruments caused balance issues, and the show theme itself wasn't very compelling. They never had a shot against the top 3.
That being said, the brass and percussion were out of this world.

@@gabevansickle4614While 2015 Cadets is obviously the best, I gotta give credit to 2002 Phantom Regiment's mellophone line. The agression of that mellophone line is something that wouldn't become commonplace until 2016ish.
Cadets 2015 and honestly, they executed it to a standard where it can't be replicated.
The fact that in my freshman year our high school recipe was called the power of 3 and then i just found this realizing the cadets had a similar recipe name lol
the year before my freshman year of hs their show was called the power of one lol
