I love how all the people in the background are like, "I don't care about these sick beats happening, I need to watch all these white boys play basketball at a very amateur level."
Another indication of this line's greatness is that they are rarely playing with an external tempo reference. Only during extended rests does McNutt jump on the cowbell.
Amazed me that they had a different dude writing the beats but it still sounds extremely similar to 90s/00s Cadets. Even the tuning, especially the basses.
Man, how could those guys be back there playing basketball with all that great drumming and sound going on behind them!!! It's one of those things goes beyond my comprehension!!
Was thinking of posting the same comment. Colin’s writing is so intelligent. There is always a symphonic approach to his book that’s so very refreshing. Such a cool lineage of brilliant percussion minds.
Good Lord!- I hope the Cadets (as a whole) can get back to this other worldly level.......Corps Management, do what you have to- bring back the mystique and the magic
@@TravisCyprien idk aungst's cadets > mcnutts. as much as I like the balls to the walls writing, aungst's musicality top them (their books can be just as nutty too)
This drum line is beyond brilliant. As a former Madison Scout. I'm fucking blow away at how DCI has evolved. Thanks writers and instructors for doing this brilliance _ and thanks all you drummers who are rocking it!!!!
Holy shit guys!. As a former Madison Scout, i appreciate your brilliant drumming. Thanks so much for contributing such brilliance and evolution to the world
are we sure that this isn't just a cover of one person, bc they are all so precise and perfectly lined up that they sound like the beat is coming from one drum
I live in a small town in CT called Enfield. At or high school, we have a band director named Mr.Repucci. Believe it or not, "Pooch" as we call him, spoofing how his name is pronounced, marched Cadets a while back. I've never seen it happen firsthand, but I've heard that you can NEVER tell a George Hopkins joke to him, or you will die.
Hey TH-cam, glad to see you checking out videos of the 2013 Cadets drumline! I'm assuming you're here because you love this activity, so I would be honored if you would take the time to read this. I have been chosen to be the tuba section leader for this year's Cadets corps. As many of you also know, marching in a drum corps isn't cheap. This will be my fifth year participating in DCI, and it has taken its financial toll quite heavily. I'm currently attending a community college while saving up money to pay for the continuance of my education at a four year university when the funds allow, leaving me severely unable to afford my tuition without setting me back another couple of years. I'm sharing this to humbly ask for your assistance, whether it's large or small. Every donation helps! Even if you cannot donate financially at this time, sharing this post with all of your friends will help me reach an even larger audience and would also be greatly appreciated. I want nothing more then to be able to march this year, and will be eternally grateful to anyone that helps make it happen. Thanks for taking the time to read this, Sincerely, Don I have a Gofundme campaign set up at www.gofundme.com/5g3ruk If you would like to aid otherwise feel free to contact me directly
Not sure why more focus wasn't on the bass line. Their basslines are the most bad ass I've ever seen. I got to see the Cadets perform 3 times in 2011, including their drumline in the lot.
Just a reminder that this is the best lot video of all time.
How could we forget barber flams
I keep going back to this every year. Definitely the best
it was my favorite until boston this year😫

Hello Ean
2024 and still listening. Greatest. Drumline. Video. Ever. You can’t change my mind.
I'd offer that it is ONE of the greatest drumlines ever and perhaps top 3 in the last 15 years
That "jesus christ" at the end really summed it up perfectly. Still watch this after all these years!
I just listened to the last part at .75 speed. It's stick your hands through clean, for the most part.
Had to come back and watch. This is still incredible.
Straight facts
Hits really hard now that we know this is the end of the Cadets
I love how all the people in the background are like, "I don't care about these sick beats happening, I need to watch all these white boys play basketball at a very amateur level."
Meanwhile Cadets battery setting the damn court on fire next to them lmao
Was thinking the same thing.
Haha dude if there was an amateur drum line behind the lakers, you know I'd be watching the drum line.
@@blakerunyon09 I would watch the drumline too after the Lakers season this year
My favorite cadet drumline video of all time. The heights, the tuning, the flams, the maple, the playing with conviction...
I can't listen to any cadets drum book without pooping my pants
Another indication of this line's greatness is that they are rarely playing with an external tempo reference. Only during extended rests does McNutt jump on the cowbell.
Twelve people must think Top Secret is actually a good drum line.
This is probably my favorite warmup video ever.
Man, hearing drumlines on concrete is ridiculous. So loud! When you're on grass it eats up a ton of your sound... But on concrete. Daaaang haha.
panda44r 😎🌴🎶🌴😎
Amazed me that they had a different dude writing the beats but it still sounds extremely similar to 90s/00s Cadets. Even the tuning, especially the basses.
Fast, dense duple figures
4:06 is just about the most insane sound I’ve ever heard a Drumline make. The sheer crisp power from those shots is unbelievable
The compression/limiting from the video camera at 4:06 shows just how freakin loud they were..
And the mic he uses is even made for loud noises to be heard at a normal volume without compressing. Crazy.
Man, how could those guys be back there playing basketball with all that great drumming and sound going on behind them!!! It's one of those things goes beyond my comprehension!!
Never forget
Can hear and see Hannum's influence on McNutt! Holy Star of Indiana! Best Drums 2013! Great job, Cadets!
Was thinking of posting the same comment. Colin’s writing is so intelligent. There is always a symphonic approach to his book that’s so very refreshing. Such a cool lineage of brilliant percussion minds.
That stuff towards the end is some 93' Star of Indiana shit. Those 36" rolls.
MY EARS. THEY CRY.
The 8" beefy spock sound, and the tenor sound in general that they had in 2013-2016 was so cool
Best drum line of all time
Bout time someone showed up BD.
musicmaniac92992 I’m glad they won
Before Cadets 2013:
Cavies 2011
Phantom 2010
Phantom 2008
Phantom 2006
Cadets 2005
SCV 2004
Cadets again for a few more years I believe
One of the best drum lines of the era.
Resonance brought out by the court makes me so happy
I love the fact that the basketball player in the background is watching at 4:57. This drumline was incredible. Loved every listening moment.
Whenever I get sad I remember this video exists.
loudest year yet....would have love to hear this live
I'm so glad Cadets got back to what made them awesome. LOUD.
3:57 The way those tenors ring is so pretty!
4:05 imagine waking up to this at 4 am
we miss you cadets! now we got bac to show you how we miss your shows!
Beautiful Drum Line Colin!! Great job and congrats on your first HIgh Drums Title!! -Leo Woods. Orlando Florida
Can't stop watching this video... must be my 40th time! ... again... CENTER SNARE's got the right attitude. Drumline on steroids!
Love love LOVE the snare sound in this vid. Thanks for posting. :)
I love these years of drum Corp. Straight drumming, no dancing around squatting and bouncing like they do nowadays.
From an old Nisei Ambassador from the 70's, I say these guys are just frickin ' awesome!
Nice job, gentlemen! Nice job gent....and so on.
Watching this from the same basketball courts 10 years later right now 🤘
5:04 those triplet rolls sound crazy from the quads... I like the way these guys are playing. with some real cajones
Good Lord!- I hope the Cadets (as a whole) can get back to this other worldly level.......Corps Management, do what you have to- bring back the mystique and the magic
Well the lost the one percussion director that got the line like this. He went to Boston. Now Boston’s line is clean
@@TravisCyprien the one guy? Do you realize how many drum trophies Aungst won with them??? Including a 3peat??

You could have told me this was any year from the 90's up until now and I'd believe it. Same intensity.
Again, I thoroughly enjoyed that!!!!!
This line was definitely much beyond paradigm. Very amazing.
Just ......... dnt hav words.... breathtaking. ..... AWESOME BASSES
one of the cadets is our highschool drumline instructor... i didnt know they were this good
RIP cadets
If any of you are still single and looking to impress an old 35 year old girl/life long fan with sick beats. I am still here for this.
Astounding. Thank you Cadets!

Not only piss clean, but quality of sound, uniformity of movement...book...speechless - listen to Jeff Prosperie's finals tape if you haven't. "WOW!"

I completely understand, thanks for the thought though :) Have a great indoor season!
The Tenors are just unbelievable. 😯
Judged the best in the world for 2013! Yeah!!
This is beautiful!
One of the best basslines I have ever seen
6:01 Holy stick heights, Batman!!!!
LEGENDARY DRUMLINE.
Mind. Blown.
So loud and sooooo crisp and clean
I'm proud to say one of my friends is a snare drummer.
They won because they didn't need more cowbell.
I like how there's a basketball game going on in the back
So clean... They make me feel like I'm not good enough *cries in a corner*
Balls. Balls everywhere.
The blonde tech guy looks like a demigod of some pastoral land…who is he?
Glad the camera is up close to that ripping bass line!
That's when Jeff Prosperie said "WOW! WOW!"
Just timeless classic clean beefy beats
the third snare from the left was a tech at the camp i just went to. super cool dude
It's perfect...
This lot was crazy
Good gracious! And I've been around along time! Clean as a whistle! Who won drums this year?
came here 8 years later to inform you that these boys smoked the other lines
No more "the lot", now "the court"! Great acoustics for a line!
More Cowbell!! I need More Cowbel!!!
Why all the focus on the snares? Tenors are much more diverse!
6:08 - "WOW!!" 6:17 - "WOW!!" - drum judge on Finals night
What heads are they using on the snares? I would seriously like to invest in some
4:02 JEEEEEEZ
Has anyone noticed the whistle at 5:19? It's PERFECT...
McNutt has been bringing power since 1993!
2:47 to 4:15? Just doesn't get any better. It rocks!
speechless, I am.
my main man ao staring the camera down during the last double stops.
I hope im able to play rolls that high at one point in my life
blew my mind
They're gonna take it!!!!!
Why do 3 of the snares have black shoulder pieces on their harnesses and the rest don't? Earlier in the season they all had the aluminum ones.
CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN!!!!!!!!
center snare's neck and head cracked me up all season.

***** Oh, yeah. I can see that now about the left side. Haha. You should search "holy bass 8's" It's crazy.
Check out infinity bass line 2015
I want to hear the impact so bad live... All those shots and heavy bass unisons... Comes to Cali :(
Casey Brohard? Is that him?
