What a great DIY. Grassroots style. Im relatively surprised there is a pencil style plug that relies on the teflon seal. Most ppl dont even install them right in the first place. I would go about it as you have. I suppose an aluminum bolt, welded shut would work too. But the cost would be steep. Stand alone ecu will be such a step forward, Im excited for ya, Rock on!
Yessir, thanks for watching. Professionally welding the head is a good option but i already had my cylinder head assembled and resurfaced. Im super excited to get the car back running on standalone and putting out more content
You don’t want to weld the head on the side of the valve (to seal the bolt). The head is aluminium and risk of warping stuff a tiny bit and making the valves not seal is very likely.
Now I wonder if you could bolt this head on an N55 block. No idea if its possible but always ruled it out due to the injectors being different. Could build such a reliable / Simplistic Track Capable BMW I6 Turbo engine. N55 Bottom end with S55 Oil sump - Fix oil starvation when tracking. (only reason not full N54) N54 Head with this DI delete - Removes complexity of N55 Valvetronic + All parts that can fail Single turbo would be sick. Again, no idea if actually possible just something ive been thinking about
If you want to do this big of a mod you shouldn’t use a N54 head, it’s dogshit compared to N52 head i.e. Which does not have DI (so it fits bigger valves) and the valvetronic can be deleted.
My boy just left his old ones in and ran port. No drilling and tapping needed. If you ever have a sealing issue, a smear of Jb weld works Excellent on the sides of the pointy part of injector, they can always be twisted out later and you can run as much boost as you want without leaking combustion ever again.
@@Chefn54 I'm MEGA excited for you !!!!!! I hope 0 to 60 sees your video !!! He's in Australia and is also a n54 guy !!! No I just wish he would have got the dipstick situation figured out for n54. The combo of port injection and a real friggin dipstick would actually make this the icing on the cake !!!
Hey how much is the harness costing you I’m interested in doing the same thing but can’t find a PNP harness and the one i do find is like $1400 shipped
@@Chefn54 ayeee thank you, I just seen Jake Spence vid of him doing it with the head in and it worked but I’ll be careful. My stuff is disassembled and just waiting on small stuff now. Idk why people are against the maxxecu. I can’t enjoy my car with the stock ecu and the bullshit di injectors. There’s a guy making a full pnp harness and will come out like around February.

Interesting idea! I would probably swap out the n55 crank with n54 tho. N55 crank isnt forged

sure abt the JB weld part?
If u can upload the whole di delete process that would be great been looking into doing it myself 😂
Bro I seriously wish you the best!!! Just saw your first start vid congratulations Hope you primed the oil first. Can't wait for your next vids!!
Thank you sir. Yes engine was primed along with monitoring oil pressure via the standalone

@@Vgk36 im adding a dipstick to my engine soon
Thanks for the info and knowledge on the n54 💪🏽Chef back at it gonna get rowdy
I don’t understand what is the point of doing this?
Not to mention the predatory injector and hpfp cost@@actionmade
Do you still have the PPI kit? Inserts specifically.
Feel like selling that drill bit holder from PPI😂😂
As an N54 owner myself I can confirm they are head ache 😂
NLS is coming btw only thing you can add is more areas of monitoring but a reflex can do that as well
hell yea!!

What oil pump you running?
Stock
Does the head need to be off? That’s one of my concerns
It can be done with head on the block but do it at your own risk. Id recommend blowing air in the spark plug while drilling and tapping
