Okay Abel, I have to say this as a previous outdoors person, a mom and one always worked in a field very physical (power plant) to the body so here goes, you are a young man and you break limbs on your knees. I’m not being critical but I did this for years and years. I’ve now had a knee replacement and need the other done. I care that’s all. I love both you and Victoria and appreciate all the new things I’ve learned. Now bring on the babies!!! Haha
Hopefully I remain okay I do a lot of training outside of these vids to keep fit

I was deer stalking over in Dusky Sound, Fiordland in the 1970’s, stayed in a DOC hut and had an overnight camp out in a beech tree grove.
In the morning we woke up to a chorus of bell birds surrounding where we camped. It was awesome as they called to each other. No cell phones in those days 😢 so couldn’t record the sound. You would’ve enjoyed having it sing to you. 😊
Yes we got venison, even had enough to trade for crayfish from a fishing boat that came up the fiord. This was the same time they had a team searching for any sign of the moose that had been released in the Fiordland National Park in this area.
The searchers had left the hut to search the day before we flew in and they arrived back the day after we flew out, so we didn’t get the chance to talk to them.

Hi Abel here is a tip your Fire pit the Back Wall has two be higher so the heat comes back at you and it will heat your tent inside ❤😊

Here in the States, we lastly add spaghetti noodles to our chili . Cover n simmer till noodles done. then make some peanut butter and honey sandwiches and dip into it! ❤ Delish !
Lol Speak for yourself where I live in the states. We most certainly do not add noodles to our chili. Because at that point it becomes chilly Mac and is no longer chilly. Lol😅

After a 7 day hike , I found the max recommended on lightweight backpack to be really realistic. You don’t travel light enough.

Need a better nest of material for the steel. But that is okay, you are the King of getting fires stated in terrible weather.

Maybe you could errect a smaller tarp opposite the one you have … closer to the tent to control some of the airflow (howling wind) and keep your wood dry, including overnight. When Victoria is with you, she’ll be more comfortable, warmer & dryer.
Have you tried sleeping with earplugs to cut out some noise?

Another great spot for a camp. Shame the weather is so unpredictable but nonetheless you cope so well. love this set up. You keep on refining how you tarp and tent and that makes it interesting. Many thanks for taking the time to come out for a camp and sharing it with us. Hope Victoria is well - having her along adds something special to the whole camp experience.

Great camp for sure. Thanks for taking the time to film these. I have messed around some with a ferro rod to start fires and found that dryer lint ignites really well .....and that is where my bush crafting ends as I grab a fire starter and light it from the burning lint.

No mistakes. Only think to go wrong was the rock explosion crazy

Burgers are still king for me but a chipotle chilli con carne thats has to be high on the list! Yeah I use kidney beans.
Trying to get a 4.5m x4.5 tarp in the sales, need a chair also.
Burgers are the best still. So easy. So nice. That’s a massive tarp I reckon 4-3 would be ideal
@@AbelandVictoria True but am toying with the idea of getting my motorbike under as well. Dont have to as they can be out in the rain but just means no wet seat in the morning. (Can take a bike cover of course).
I have a naturehike cloud up 3 which is big! With hindsight I'd have got a side opening tent and something not so big.
P.s lomo do a 4.5x4.5. 1.5kg...bit of a beast.
P.p.s theres a 4.5x3 might go for that.

Okay this stop for liquid is new. I should have mentioned this before, but when Victoria is joining you, you need another tarp to block the wind for her to be more protected from the wind and warmer. Not that you’re boring, but ……😊
Its inbetween -3 and -8 degrees here in the Uk at the moment and heavy frost. Snow is forecast but mainly on high ground. Seeing your video makes me feel warm even in the heavy rain you had 😅. Another awesome video from you

Nice video Abel! Exploding rocks are disconcerting. When you said the chili was restrauant quality I said it's probably better and then you did.😂 The Bell bird was cool. Those Weckers have no fear. The creaking would've kept me up all night. Can't wait for the next one.

I love that you’re a back packer that cooks real food! Everyone else is taking a shortcut with dehydrated meals but you have legit food and it’s a lot more satisfying.
I hope you consider making real coffee or at least switching to something you enjoy drinking. Far nicer to hear about how good it is instead of how rancid it is 😂

For next Winter you could do hot tenting, ie the fire inside the tent, you would need a special tent and a log burner, probably car camping exercise.

Another great camp Abel. Thank you so much for all the effort you go to, to entertain. The exploding rock was a bit of a shock. It must've been one that was water logged to explode like that. You know what? You should be sponsored by some of the makers/manufacturers of the products you use, although it's nice to hear someone give an honest appraisal of even those that are lacking. Loved watching you make that Chilli Con Carne. It's one of my favourite meals although I'm not sure I would have it as hot and spicy as you obviously enjoy. New Zealand certainly has some beautiful camping spots and the videos that you have put up on TH-cam have showcased your country to the world perfectly. I'm surprised you don't get royalties from Tourism New Zealand for the tourists you capture through your videos. I am very much looking forward to watching you and Victoria on your camps in 2024 and I intend to be a paid up member by then so I don't miss even a minute. In the meantime, I'd like to wish you and Victoria the Merriest of Christmases and the Happiest and Safest of New Years.

FYI @ 9.18 the green fluffy stuff to right (wizards beard) makes good tinder and feather sticks/bark , the dead marsh grass i have not much success for some reason

Gidday mate, did ya come in from the Graham valley or the Cobb through the Bullock track or along Takaka River? I know these areas from when I was working and tramping these valleys in the 80's.

Hey because it’s really hot the rain won’t put it out. The fire is away from the tarp might be a little deceiving on camera
