The surfing and wave animation in surfs up is so incredibly good looking which combined with the documentary style and humor makes this movie stand out among “kids movies.” The addition of the actual surfers really shows how much they cared about showing surfing as awesome sport
This is one of the most unique and original movie I've seen. The voice actors were amazing, the comedic bits scattered throughout were golden, just everything about it was needed for character growth and for the story to go on. The whole story is staged as a documentary is really original, especially because it is animated and not live action. Overall just an amazing movie and one of my all time favorites.
I saw the behind the scenes on the DVD and it actually showed that they animated the interview scenes but used an actual camera and person to make it as realistic as possible and I thought that was a really creative idea that I haven't seen in any other movie since
The best part of this movie is that on the title screen, all of the characters are judging you for not pushing play and asking if you can't find the remote.
