- Plzzzz like and sub and let me know what else I need to see. I really want some suggestions of metal drummers to check out that will blow my f ing mind. #jazzdrummer #jazzdrums #metaldrumming #metal
The immediate "playback speed" check killed me, lmao
This song was originally written and performed by Flo back in 1996, so a fair bit more than 15 years ago even though this is a more recent video of him playing it.
On that album and live back then he didn't use triggers, but he did start using them shortly after. If you want to see a video of him from that era, there's an even more potato recording of them in their jam room with the same line-up as that album. It's listed on TH-cam as "Cryptopsy - Jamspace Rehearsal, 1997, None So Vile", but that video has been traded through the underground metal scene for some time. It's almost 30 minutes, so basically the majority of their live set at the time. However, there is an internet hero in the comments who put timestamps for every song, so it is possible to just check out a single song instead of the whole thing.
He also is in a jazz project on the side and is quite influenced by jazz drumming.
If you want to see something more current you could watch his drum playthrough of "Sire of Sin" from five years ago on the Official Cryptopsy channel or you could also view the live drum cam footage of "Slit Your Guts" from 2017, but that song is also off the 1996 album that "Phobophile" is from. That being said, most people agree that "None So Vile" from 96 is their best album. It certainly was on the bleeding edge of the death metal sound of that time.
Dude that’s awesome and totally makes sense I was getting a jazz vibe from his flow and beat creation (or at least an improvised element.) I’m totally gonna check out the underground rehearsal stuff and “none so vile” thanks for the recommendations!!
Darkside from Mgla :)) lots of cymbal work
Do has been doing this since 94 when they first came out. Dude is a machine. I think there’s a cold hate warm blood drum video of him that’s also amazing
I’ll check it out thank fo watching my friend!
Spencer Prewitt from Archspire
Thank u!
Def need to check out Spencer Prewett of Archspire.
Just did a reaction gonna edit and upload.
John Longstreth from ORIGIN has always been the most impressive extreme/metal drummer to me. Impeccable technique, and super creative parts. Not to mention INSANELY fast. He has tons of Meinl videos on TH-cam.
Ok I’m thinking either him or Gene holgan next! Thanks!
His work with gorguts is also insane
Man the John Longstreth meinl video of playing saligia by origin.
I think u should react another "Canadian" drummer... Spencer Prewett from Archspire. It will blow ur mind. Spencer is a robot 🤖
My recommendation as well. Dude has maxed out the speed stat.
Yo I just did one and I’m gonna upload soon. I was rolling, it was a genuine reaction cuz I’ve never heard or seen him before.
Maybe not first time, Dave Lombardo with Grip Inc. Song: Amped
There was a band called Spastik Ink that did some great prog metal, the drummer is Bobby Jarzombek. They had a song called "A Wild Hare" which is synced up to all of Thumper's lines in Bambi. There's a video somewhere on TH-cam of it synced up, it's a multi-movement composition... but, ya know, metal. 🤘
Another shorter song they had was called "The Cereal Mouse," also synced up to a cartoon, It's a much shorter piece.
Elliot Hoffman of Car Bomb should be a top tier choice. Plenty of mind twisting drummy goodness on his channel. Go check him out.
Flo is the man " up in mirabel back in the day him and drummer George kololis still rad to this day"
MESHUGGAH - Clockworks (Drum Playthrough w/ Tomas Haake) - definitely check this out :)
I’ve seen that so good!
Dino sommese is my favorite metal drummer for sure, he was in the band dystopia in the 90-00s and he did the drums aswell as the lead vocals, he truly mastered all five of his limbs, i love his creativity behind the kit, and his vocals do not dissapoint (if youre into extreme vocals), definatly check him out hes one of a kind
he was also in a death/grind band called carcinogen before he did dystopia, personally i like his drumming a little better in carcinogen
Thank u I’m gonna check him out for sure, I’m on a death metal and metal spree lately with my music choices. 🤜🤛
@@yarpyarp85 sick bro keep that going love people getting more into metal, since youre on a spree you should also check out proscriptor mc govern and dave bland, theyre also incredible metal drummer vocalists
I'm happy to read that someone in the entire universe remembers Dystopia band. Their "Human = Garbage" just destoyed my worldview when I first listened it (~2012, I was 16 years old). Masterpiece.
@@fractallightx such a good band but so sad that we cant see them live, wouldve undoubtedly been one of the best show ive been to, wish i was a teen in the 90s sometmes
Matt, I went to Flo’s drum clinic a while back. He was insanely fast. Ridiculous blast beats especially his skank blast. One thing though the bass drums are triggered. He’s fast but the triggering brings it to inhuman levels of speed. I was most impressed with he fluidly he moves from Tom’s to snare to cymbals etc. nice reaction!! ❤
Heyyyy Tim! Thanks so much for checking it out! Ya his hand speed is so unreal right but triggering seems to be so common now. I think there still are some purists like Garska and Chris Turner thankfully. It truly does make it easier to play fast and even, not taking anything away from flo of course! See you at work Tim!😌😌
Flo is one of the first ones that blew my mind with the extreme speed stuff. If you want another stupid fast one, look up Lord Marco. "SONIVINOS - "Incomprehensibly Evolved" (310bpm) DRUM POV PLAYTHROUGH by Lord Marco - 2023" is a good one. If you feel like some prog, I can recommend "Jason Rullo - Symphony X - Iconoclast - Midland Theater in KC - 2/26/2012". Pick your poison.
If you enjoyed this, I highly encourage you to check out Jamie Saint Merat, the live performance of "Ulcerate - Everything is Fire", posted by Relapse Records, for some more completely bonkers jazzy death metal drumming. And for just straight up technical insanity the Meinl cymbals playthrough of Saligia by Origin, played by John Longstreth - that one, in my books, is the one playthrough that puts all extreme metal drummers in their place. If you enjoyed Saligia, there's also a raw audio video of John Longstreth playing in San Diego, the songs Staring & Aftermath (full song titles if you wanna compare live to studio are Staring from the Abyss & The Aftermath) uploaded by cosmicj.
Dude I just reacted to him, so many people mentioned him. posting tomorrow, I think I did a different song though.
you should check out Nils "Dominator" Fjellström
For these ultra fast grindmachines go for Nils "Dominator" Fjellstrom from Dark Funeral.
But you gotta go and check out the legend Gene Hoglan.
Playthroughs of Death classics "The Philosopher" and "Overactive Imagination". Also check out Tuska Festival drum cam from 2013 on the song "True American Hate".
Ohhh dude yesss I remember reading an article about him in modern drummer back in the day where he was touting the benefits of wearing leg weights when practicing. I laughed buuuut look at me know, I bought a pair a couple of months ago. 🤣🤣
@@yarpyarp85 Blues he also plays in military boots. He also uses those weights in his hands. He is a beast!
Few things, if you wanna practice getting used to a double pedal and getting the motion, the song that helped me learn it is Stratovarius - Eagleheart, is simple, is not slow nor fast, its a great trainer for double pedal. NOW, drummers to recommned, Aric Improta from Night Verses, II from Sleep Token, Dan Presland from Black Lava and Vipassi (ex Ne-Obliviscaris), Austin Archey from Lorna Shore, Josh Manuel from Issues, Baby J from DarkoUS, Luke Holland, Nils "Dominator" Fjellstrom from Dark Funeral, Darkside from MGLA, Nic Petersen from Northlane, Matt Gartska from Animals As Leaders, Eugene Ryabchenko from Fleshgod Apocalypse. I could go on and on, on drumemrs to recommend.
Thank u dude! Seriously this is a great list! I know some of these guys but others I’ve never heard of. I seriously appreciate this!
❤❤❤
😘😘
Bro you need to cover Bryan Fajardo, guy is a power house and have not seen anyone react to him 🤯
I will!
Jamie Saint-Merat. Of Ulcerate. HIGHLY recommended
So many people mentioned him, I did a reaction and I’m gonna post tomorrow. Thanks so much for watching and recommending him.
Check out "Slaughter to Prevail" drummer
I will thanks!
Please react to Sean Reinert. He was phenomenal and groovy drummer. For example '"Human" album by Death. Wicked, groovy drummer.
Ya I’ve heard of him, so many people tell me he’s like a jazz drummer that happens to play metal. Sounds like my kinda guy!
check out Mario Duplantier from the French metal band Gojira, he is insanely good
Duuuude I frigging love that guy!
Look up Lille Gruber from Defeated Sanity
Check out Dobber Beverly from Insect warfare and Dave Witte specifically his work with Discordance axis
Also Dennis The Menace from MACABRE
Actually not lots of good videos of Dave witte with discordance axis but my favorite album he was a part of was The Inallieable Dreamless by Discordance Axis
you should check out the rev from avenged sevenfold as he is one of the best metal drummers in my opinion
I know him, ya he’s legit for sure right.
you should check out Fawn Limbs, the mathy drumming is WILD
From what I've heard he recorded this while he was sick or something 💀
What…. That’s crazy. It’s seems like he’s running at 100%
Flo Mounier kindda introduced the gravity blast. A true pioneer. Ok, wanna see something OUTRAGEOUS? John Longstreth, drummer to the technical death metal band ORIGIN. He's like all-out speed blast beast, double bass and crazy fills. A slight to behold.
That sound sick thanks dude! The more of a chance my face gets melted the better. I want the crazy stuff! Lol
Check out the godfather, one-foot-blast-master, "Commando" Pete Sandoval
Will do thanks for the recommendation!!
Okay…. I been holding out on this information my friend ☝️The most viewed video was not and is not the proper representation of his playing at all… He was like 19-20ish when this was written… I literally saw them again for the literal 9Th time 6-17-2024
Serving to say and inform you that he has a “Death Metal Instructional DVD” I’m the early 2000(s) and he IS MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE!!!
Like I wrote a 100 page paper for my Jazz History class about the comparisons between Jazz music and Death Metal and Flo literally gave me a hug when I informed him that my 60 year old Jazz teacher (That is a percussion major) after reading my paper and listening to my supplemental CD of the bands I included for the paper went and bought all their albums he was so impressed ☝️
Long story short…
Flo is the damn GOAT AND you should on your free time seek out “We Bleed” and “ Cold Blood Warm Hate” live performance featured on his DVD… insane!!!
This is great but your jaw will drop beyond comprehension if you watch those cuts!
Granted I would ask you to redo another track as I have stated for the channel but please!
I urge you to explore on your own those two tracks and let me know if I am wrong?
However if you really cared to remain a virgin then please do a reaction to “We Bleed” off his DVD🙏
Flo hits like his drums are endorsed and they owe him money….
He is one of the OG(s) of Death Metal drumming even before triggers took off…
Flo does NOT CHEAT!!!
Furthermore in conclusion if you care to read a paper upon how high meter percussion has neurological calming effects on inter- hemispherical connections of the brain on the limbic system in applications to spectrum disorders such as Tourettes?? Let me know I’ll find a way to send it to you…
Like?? I will listen to just the isolated drum track to Bleed and it will help steady my Tourettes tics…
Straight up science as my personal hypothesis I dare claim….
you should check out tomas haake from meshuggah and buster odeholm from vildhjarta and humanitys last breath
I’ve definitely checked out Thomas Haake but not buster. I’ll check him out for sure!
Some David Diepold
Thank u!
Steve Asheim from Deicide
Nice! Thank u!
Sick. I love the progression of Cattle Decapitation. Just starting to dabble in their stuff but I’m enjoying what I’m getting into.
Sick ya I wanna check it out, I’m dead set on learning some death metal buy this time next year! Thank u so much for the recommendations.
