when he's "showing off and switching hands" that's actually a technique that allows you to get a snare hit on EVERY 16th note, and it can be sustained for longer periods of time than gravity blasts. its called a "switch blast" i think

Austin is amazing but I find him in a niche which is focused highly on those speedy doubles. If you want to see some metal with dynamics and no triggers check out Chris Turner, or Matt Garstka. They both have insane speed but phenomenal pattern work and groove.

I think a song and drumming you would really appreciate would be "And Plague Flowers the Kaleidoscope by Ne Obliviscaris." Very versatile drumming on that one. More metal!!! I love your take on these songs. I've been a metal guitarist for 25 years and to hear another genres take is just so interesting. The approach is completely different and it is just fantastic!

Trey Williams from Dying Fetus(oh metal) is another to check out sometime. His drum cam from Your Treachery is insane. Gene Hoglan as others have said is another legend, pretty much any of his stuff.

The only issue I have with Meinl vids. The FPS recorded at a timing that has issues with picking up the pedal strokes. Heel/toe technique is just another style that Austin excels at. (Edited for DYAC on his name).

I'm so used to jazz musicians being super dismissive of metal, even though they do similar things. Time changes, key changes, and just super virtuoso difficult stuff. Anyway, long way of saying thanks for being both open and not a jerk. Cheers

Hi ! For you mic, it sounds nice ! You might wanna pull it a little closer and put a pop cover on it ! But there's a constant bassy sound in the back, from your feet moving around im guessing, so you might wanna check that out ! All of those things aside, i really enjoy watching your videos :D
