Bro Lei. Please reconsider doing an updated new video on this interesting Culling subject. This video is more than 3 years ago. Hopefully a more powerful new camera with stronger Zoom close-up shot. Also, show us more examples of desirable and undesirable characteristics and factors, to keep or to cull. Thanks in advance.
📌 Just pinned your comment. Truly appreciated your suggestion. It takes efforts to creat good video. I will try another way to translate culling videos/lectures from my goldfish friends in China.
Very well done!!! A pro breeder told me to do a reverse cull whenever I get BIG spawns with lots of fry. You cull the best 100 or so out of the batch and cull down from there. It saves you a tremendous amount of time. I once culled a spawn of 3,000 Ryukin fry down and it took me FOREVER! Great video keep them coming!!!!!
They look so cute in their cups like they're show fry but really they're in trouble and reject fry hahaha, the scissor cut tail looks like a spade like they're gonna dig gravel with their tail 🤣
@@GoldfishCorner thank you. It's a Nissan GTR. I subscribed to your channel. I learned a lot from your videos. I love Ranchu so much. I love how detailed your videos are.
Thank you for the great information! What are your future plans for the BEP babies? Selling? Breeding? I currently have 4 of Gary Hater's BEP babies from an auction at a fish club. They're so cute and I love how social and interactive they are with you!
Thanks. Since I don’t have many keepers this year, I plan to exchange with some other breeders to get better spawn next year (avoid sibling spawns). Maybe sell some if any leftover. You are right, BEP is very social breed with well schooling behavior
If cull is a new concept to you, please read this article written by Jenny @SolidGold about what and why cull. Enjoy it. Thanks solidgoldaquatics.com/2014/12/11/my-thoughts-on-culling/
@@GoldfishCorner Hi Lei! After a few of your videos I think i start understand a little how to cull. Its now 10 days! A few getting huge compare to its siblings! Its good they are already big. But they start to bully the small one even killing them! Like swallow the small halfways and spit them out! I think i have over 10 deaths these last 3 days:/
Thank you Jim. Are you a goldfish breeder or keeper? goldfish breeders understand what cull means. Here is a good post about Cull. solidgoldaquatics.com/2014/12/11/my-thoughts-on-culling/
I am only a 15 year old kid so I’m not a goldfish breeder.. yet. However I have been keeping pet goldfish, particularly feeder goldfish, for a while. I have eighteen common goldfish fries that I found in my backyard koi pond. There are a few huge goldfish in there so the babies came from them. Since these baby goldfish managed to survive they are all in very good shape. I think they are about three weeks old. I have a main TH-cam channel called “The Feeder Fish Rescuer” that I will post a video of the baby goldfish on.
Might be a dumb question but why is it necessary to cull the fry? If you don't cull the 'deformed' fry then will they grow up have health problems? Or do you simply cull them because they don't look nice? I'm just curious 😂
I actually would also be interested in buying cull goldfish (with minor defects or bad color), as long as I can give them a long life. Could I buy 2 for a small fee (I will pay shipping) :)?
Should the goldfish be kept alone without disturbance while breeding? I mean “how to keep goldfish before breeding”? You seem like a professional breeder

Thank you, Donnie. “reverse cull” is the word that I am trying to say. Always easier to find the best one from the fries.
This is a sophisticated process and requires lot of knowledge and patience. Fry looks good and big 👍
Thank you Raliegh!
Great detailed tips of culling. Hidden treasure
Thank you ☺️

Thank you for the feedback. Culling is tough but will improve your goldfish quality generation by generation

Thanks to this. Now my worries are gone, because all of my keepers are around half and 1/4 split in caudal fins, that i thought earlier are cull.
I see. thank you sharing your experience
I did the same thing, every water change I culled.
thank you
What happens to the culled goldfish? Hopefully not killed...?

Hello, my friend. That is no problem. I did not have time to breed any BEP this year. maybe in the future. Enjoy goldfish keeping
Good grief…. Just started my first official eggs, oranda…not a lot, I did that on purpose,I wanted to start small.
Congrats, Trish! Perfect new year gift for yourself. I like your attitude of staring small. Good luck 🍀. Enjoy fishkeeping

Thank you, Supradeep Saiprasad Yes, separate male from female and keep each gender in separated tanks or ponds since the late Fall until Spring
Ok thanks
Culling means that ‘you are gonna sell it .....right?’
No. Jenny @SolidGold posted a nice article about what and why cull. Enjoy it. Thanks solidgoldaquatics.com/2014/12/11/my-thoughts-on-culling/
Goldfish Corner ok thnx
Because I’m not a breeder this is my first time.
